Chinatown East and West Gates

The Chinatown East Gate (also known as the Gate of Maternal Virtues) is installed in Los Angeles' Chinatown neighborhood, in the U.S. state of California. The structure was installed in 1939, one year after the dedication of Central Plaza and the installation of the Chinatown West Gate. It was commissioned by Y.C. Hong to commemorate his mother. The East Gate has been designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.

The Hong Kong Café was a Los Angeles restaurant and music venue that was a part of the Los Angeles punk rock scene during the late 1970s and early 1980s followed by a resurgence from 1992 to 1995. Located at 425 Gin Ling Way in the Chinatown district of Downtown Los Angeles, California and across the way from sometimes rival Esther Wong's Madame Wong's, the former Chinese restaurant was open to audiences of all ages. It can briefly be seen in the 1974 movie, Chinatown.

The Chinatown West Gate is installed in Los Angeles' Chinatown neighborhood, in the U.S. state of California. Installed in 1938, the structure exhibits traditional Chinese design and displays characters which translate to "Cooperate to Achieve". The gate has 150-year-old camphor wood from China. After being nominated by the Los Angeles Conservancy, the West Gate was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.

Little Joe's Italian American Restaurant was a historic Italian restaurant which once stood in the Chinatown district of Los Angeles, California USA at the corner of Broadway and College Street. The area was once part of the city's Italian American enclave, which preceded Chinatown.

Materials & Applications is a Los Angeles-based art and architecture exhibition space. M&A's exhibitions typically take the form of outdoor, public installations and one-to-one architecture. The organization is one of dozens of small non-profit artist run spaces that have been called "feral" in their relationship to larger, more established organizations and museums in Los Angeles. Jeremy Rosenberg, a Los Angeles based writer, has likened it to other "feral" artist-run organizations such as The Museum of Jurassic Technology, Center for Land Use Interpretation, and Echo Park Film Center.

Chung King Road, along with Chung King Court containing a water fountain in its center, is a pedestrian street complex in the northwest corner of Chinatown, Los Angeles. This street is a part of "New Chinatown," built in the 1930s and 1940s, and was the location of mostly Chinese specialty shops, importers of Chinese art objects, and Chinese benevolent associations. In the late 1990s many of the storefronts were sitting unused, and several of them were converted into art galleries and art studios. With its nearly weekly schedule of art gallery exhibition openings, Chung King Road is now one of the centers of art and nightlife in Downtown Los Angeles. Annual events include Chinese New Year and the Golden Dragon Parade, The Moon Festival, KCRW's Chinatown Summer Nights, the closing party of LA's Design Week and the Perform! Now! Festival.

Coagula Curatorial is a contemporary art gallery founded in April 2012 by Mat Gleason, Los Angeles art critic & curator. From 1992-2011, Gleason published Coagula Art Journal, a free zine-style publication on contemporary art, which gained notoriety for its "no holds barred" critique of the contemporary art world. Following the same spirit as the magazine, the gallery opened on Los Angeles' historic Chung King Road and has hosted solo shows by contemporary artists such as Karen Finley, Kim Dingle, Gronk (artist), Llyn Foulkes, Sheree Rose and others. The gallery also utilizes guest curators, who have included other prominent artists in Coagula exhibitions such as: John Fleck, Diane Gamboa, Germs, Peter Shelton, Gajin Fujita, Sue de Beer, Rafael Reyes (artist) and others. Coagula Curatorial's inaugural exhibit in April 2012 for artist Tim Youd garnered press for being "sexually explicit".In July 2012, legendary performance artist Karen Finley performed her first Los Angeles performance in 14 years at the gallery.In October 2012, TimeOut LA called Coagula Curatorial one of LA's "Most Stylish Galleries".In December 2013, artist Kim Dingle was quoted by the Los Angeles Times as calling Coagula Curatorial "edgy" and "free", as well as describing gallerist Mat Gleason as "an artist's gallerist".

Charlie James Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in the Chinatown neighborhood of Los Angeles. The gallery’s focus leans toward political work that in some way questions or comments on issues of contemporary cultural significance. The gallery has invested in culture jammers of international reputation like Steve Lambert, art world provocateurs like William Powhida, and mid-career conceptual artists like Ray Beldner and Walter Robinson. The gallery also cares about work that addresses issues of contemporary identity, exhibiting Iranian-American artists Ala Ebtekar and Taravat Talepasand and feminist artist Orly Cogan.

Chinatown station is an elevated light rail station on the L Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located along Spring Street above College Street in the Chinatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, just north of Downtown Los Angeles. This station opened on July 26, 2003, as part of the original Gold Line, then known as the "Pasadena Metro Blue Line" project. The Chinatown station is a short walk from North Broadway, a bustling street of Chinese-American restaurants and stores.This station and all the other original and Foothill Extension stations will be part of the A Line upon completion of the Regional Connector project in 2022.

Chinatown is a neighborhood in Downtown Los Angeles, California, that became a commercial center for Chinese and other Asian businesses in Central Los Angeles in 1938. The area includes restaurants, shops, and art galleries, but also has a residential neighborhood with a low-income, aging population of about 20,000 residents. The original Chinatown developed in the late 19th century, but it was demolished to make room for Union Station, the city's major ground-transportation center. A separate commercial center, known as "New Chinatown," opened for business in 1938.
