It was built circa 1700 and is a 1+1⁄2-story, round log structure measuring 21 feet 9 inches by 25 feet. The building is a house rather than a cabin because log cabins are only one floor. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

General Washington Inn is a historic inn and tavern located at Downingtown, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1761, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, fieldstone and limestone structure measuring 62 feet, 6 inches, by 35 feet. The front facade features a one-story, full width verandah. Its design details reflect a mix of Georgian and Federal styles. It was the site of the first post office in Chester County, established in 1796.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Shanahan, the third bishop of Harrisburg, the school is the only archdiocesan high school in Chester County. Construction of the current building began in 1996. It opened in 1998, and the first class graduated from it in 1999. The school had previously been located in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Students in the eleventh and twelfth grade can participate in the IB Diploma Programme to achieve an IB diploma, in addition to their diploma from the Downingtown Area School District. The school's enrollment is approximately 800 students. Being a smaller school, students are engaged in a more personalized learning environment. Admission into the school is required to attend. The school's laptop initiative provides each student with a computer. Technology is utilized as a tool that enhances learning.The former Downingtown Educational Center/Ninth Grade Center was renovated to become the Downingtown STEM Academy in Fall of 2011.As of December 11, 2013, the Downingtown STEM Academy was ranked as the top public high school in Pennsylvania, achieving a School Performance Profile score of 101.4, and in 2017 received a 104.0. In 2018, U.S. News & World Report ranked the Downingtown STEM Academy as the number one public high school in the state of Pennsylvania, and number thirty-four in the United States.

Gibson's Covered Bridge, also known as Harmony Hill Bridge, is an historic, wooden, covered bridge which is located in East Bradford Township and West Bradford Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

East Caln Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,380 at the 2020 census. The township wraps around the eastern half of Downingtown and is mostly indistinguishable from it. East Caln Township is very developed, containing several shopping centers, including the regionally important Brandywine Square Center, several recently constructed housing developments varying from condominiums to large single family homes, and some industry in the southern fringe of the township.
