The Ancient House, Walthamstow

St. Mary's Church, Walthamstow, is a Church of England parish church in Walthamstow Village, a conservation area in Walthamstow, East London. It was founded in the 12th century and is still a working church. It retains over one hundred and fifty brasses and monuments, the oldest dating from 1436, though all that now remains of the original Norman church is some pillar bases and the chisel marks on them.

Walthamstow Village is the oldest part of Walthamstow, east London. It was designated a Conservation Area by the London Borough of Waltham Forest in 1967, and another Conservation Area on nearby Orford Road was subsequently added. The area centres on St. Mary's Church, which was founded in the 12th century. Across the road from this is a 15th-century timber-framed hall house called "The Ancient House", which was restored in 1934 and 2002. Nearby are almshouses dating from the 16th and 18th centuries, and the Vestry House Museum, which has been used as a workhouse and police station, but has been a museum since 1931. It also holds the archives of the borough and a local studies library.Orford Road, the ancient road leading up to St Mary's church, has in recent years developed as a street of small restaurants, cafes and a local supermarket. There are also several pubs in the area.

The Connaught Hospital was a health facility in Walthamstow, London. The building which was used as the main entrance block remains a Grade II listed building.

Vestry House Museum is a history museum in Walthamstow, focusing on the heritage of the local area. The collection includes various artifacts dating from the Victorian Era to the 20th Century including numerous archived documents and photographs.Vestry House was originally built as a workhouse and was later used as a police station and also as private housing (amongst the exhibits is a replica police cell demonstrating one of the building's previous uses). The building became a museum in 1931.On permanent display in the museum is the Bremer Car, the first British motor car with an internal combustion engine, which was built by Frederick Bremer (1872–1941) in a workshop at the back of his family home in Connaught Road, Walthamstow. The car first ran in 1892 and was donated to the museum by Bremer in 1933.

Walthamstow School for Girls is single sex girls' secondary school situated in Walthamstow, London. It currently educates 900 girls between the ages of 11–16.Locally, the school is known as 'Green School'. It is close to Walthamstow Central and the Prime Meridian.

Holy Family Catholic School (formerly Holy Family Technology College) is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school and sixth form in the Walthamstow area of East London, England.

Shern Hall Street was a railway station on the Chingford branch line located in Walthamstow. The station was opened on 26 April 1870 as the terminus of a new single-track branch line from Lea Bridge junction on the Northern and Eastern Railway's original line from Stratford. This section is today referred to as the Temple Mills branch. The station had a short operational life and was closed on 17 November 1873 when the line was extended northwards to Chingford with a new station opening at Wood Street to the east as its replacement.

Hoe Street Ward is a political division of the London Borough of Waltham Forest and is one of the eight wards of the Walthamstow constituency represented by Stella Creasy MP. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 13,912.The ward is represented by three councillors with elections every four years. Walthamstow was a local government district in southwest Essex, England from 1873 to 1965, around the town of Walthamstow. It was within the London suburbs, forming part of the London postal district and Metropolitan Police District. Its former area now corresponds to the central part of the London Borough of Waltham Forest in Greater London.

Walthamstow College of Art was an art school based in Walthamstow, north-east London. In the 1970s, it was merged into North East London Polytechnic and is now part of the University of East London (UEL). UEL's School of Architecture and the Visual Arts, is based at its Docklands Campus.In 2017, The William Morris Gallery hosted an exhibition, 'Be Magnificent', documenting some of its most famous alumni.

Waltham Forest Town Hall (formerly Walthamstow Town Hall) is a municipal building located in Walthamstow, East London. The town hall, which is the headquarters of Waltham Forest London Borough Council, is a Grade II Listed Building.
