Shaker Mountain, 1,835 feet (559 m), is a prominent peak in the Taconic Mountains of western Massachusetts. The mountain is located in Pittsfield State Forest and is named after the nearby Hancock Shaker Village, a former Shaker religious colony and now a historic site. The summit is wooded and is traversed by the 5 mi (8.0 km) Shaker Trail, a loop trail that begins at the historic site. The mountain is wooded with northern hardwood tree species. Shaker Mountain is located within Hancock, Massachusetts. The Taconic ridgeline continues north from Shaker Mountain as Doll Mountain and west as Holy Mount The mountain drains into Shaker Brook and Lily Brook, thence to the Housatonic River and Long Island Sound.

Pittsfield State Forest is an 11,000-acre (4,500 ha) Massachusetts state forest located in the town of Pittsfield and managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation. The forest is the location of Berry Pond, which sitting atop Berry Mountain at an elevation of 2,150 feet (660 m) is the highest natural body of water in the state.

WUPE (1110 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. It is owned by Townsquare Media and it simulcasts the classic hits format of 100.1 WUPE-FM. WUPE serves the Berkshire Mountains area. The station is a daytimer and must sign off the air at sunset, according to Federal Communications Commission rules. By day, WUPE transmits with 5,000 watts, using a directional antenna, but because 1110 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for KFAB Omaha and WBT Charlotte, WUPE must be off the air at night, when radio waves travel further. Programming is also heard in Pittsfield on FM translator W277CJ at 103.3 MHz. That gives listeners three spots on the dial to hear WUPE, AM 1110, FM 100.1 and FM 103.3.

Hillcrest Hospital is a 77-bed general hospital located at 165 Tor Court, Pittsfield, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1908 by Dr. Charles Harper Richardson, who saw the need for a surgical hospital in the community. This was the 2nd hospital in Pittsfield at the time.Hillcrest moved to its current location in 1951. In 1996 Hillcrest Hospital merged with Berkshire Medical Center, and is now (2021) the Hillcrest Campus of BMC.

Hancock Shaker Village is a former Shaker commune in Hancock and Pittsfield, Massachusetts. It emerged in the towns of Hancock, Pittsfield, and Richmond in the 1780s, organized in 1790, and was active until 1960. It was the third of nineteen major Shaker villages established between 1774 and 1836 in New York, New England, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. From 1790 until 1893, Hancock was the seat of the Hancock Bishopric, which oversaw two additional Shaker communes in Tyringham, Massachusetts, and Enfield, Connecticut. The village was closed by the Shakers in 1960, and sold to a local group who formed an independent non-profit. This organization now operates the property as an open-air museum. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places and declared a National Historic Landmark District in 1968.

WRRS-LP (104.3 FM) is a radio station licensed to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, United States. The station serves the Pittsfield area and is currently a program of United Cerebral Palsy of Berkshire County.

WBEC (1420 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a talk and sports radio format. It is licensed to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and is owned by Townsquare Media.WBEC is powered at 1,000 watts. By day, it uses a non-directional antenna. But at night, to protect other stations on 1420 AM, it uses a directional antenna with a two-tower array. Programming is also heard on FM translator W230CP at 93.9 MHz.

Pittsfield Municipal Airport (IATA: PSF, ICAO: KPSF, FAA LID: PSF) is two miles west of Pittsfield, in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a general aviation facility.The first airline flights were Mohawk DC-3s, 1953 to 1958; Northeast DC-3s stopped at Pittsfield 1953-54 to 1962. Flights on commuter airlines like Command Airways and Precision Airlines lasted until 1983-84; Precision flew to Rutland, Vermont and New York City LaGuardia Airport.

Taconic Vocational High School is a vocational high school in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, United States. Taconic was built in 1968 and opened in 1969, which serves as a high school of choice for students in Pittsfield. The school's primary focus is on vocational training and it offers such courses as auto mechanics, printing, drafting, electronics, carpentry, and others. In May 2016, J. H. Maxymillian Inc. broke ground on a $120.8 million plan to construct a new Taconic High School at the same location. The new building was completed in time for the start of the 2018 school year and the old school was demolished upon completion of the new one. An expanded parking lot and soccer field were built where the old school stood in 2019. The new building covers 246,520 square feet. Along with Pittsfield High School, it is one of two high schools in the Pittsfield Public School system. In March 2022, the Taconic Braves were renamed as the Thunder.

WBRK-FM (101.7 MHz, "Star 101.7") is a commercial FM radio station in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. It is owned by WBRK, Inc. and broadcasts a hot adult contemporary radio format.

The Taconic Skyline Trail is a 12.1 mi (19.5 km) multi-use trail in the Taconic Mountains of Berkshire County, Massachusetts. The trail extends from U.S. Route 20 in Hancock, Massachusetts, less than 1 mi (1.6 km) east of the New York border, north along the ridgecrest of the Taconic Range within Pittsfield State Forest and officially ending at Brodie Mountain Road on the Hancock/ Lanesborough town line. Originally built as a hiking trail, the Taconic Skyline Trail sees heavy use by all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles and is now officially maintained for primarily motorized use. The trail is used less frequently for mountain biking but is no longer recommended for hikers, who are encouraged to use the parallel, non-motorized Taconic Crest Trail. However, the trail is still open to hikers. Recent grants through the Massachusetts DCR's Commonwealth Connections project have provided 40,000 dollars to ATV clubs for trail surface rehabilitation. Forest types the Taconic Skyline Trail are mixed oak-hickory forest and northern hardwood forest with alkaline-loving plant communities, and red spruce/ balsam fir stands on the higher summits. The geology is thrust faulted metamorphic rock over younger sedimentary rock.

Berkshire Downs was an American horse racing track located in Hancock, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. The track opened for its first season of racing on 19 September 1960 and in 1962 counted Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin as investors. The track struggled from outset due to poor weather, corruption, and proximity to other nearby tracks including Green Mountain Race Track, a much larger track that opened in 1963 only 30 miles due north. The track ownership included many infamous names in mafia circles such as Angelo Bruno and Raymond L.S. Patriarca. In the early 1970s, the track made national headlines when the owners were compelled to appear before a Senate Sub Committee investigating racketeering, but Sinatra and Martin were cleared of wrongdoing. The facility closed in 1976 and is now used as a private horse breeding and training business, Sebring Stables.
