Snapdragon Stadium, known during its planning and early construction phases as Aztec Stadium, is an under-construction American football stadium in San Diego, California on the campus of San Diego State University at SDSU Mission Valley, a 166-acre (67 ha) non-contiguous expansion parcel of the university campus. The 35,000-seat stadium will serve as the home of the San Diego State Aztecs football team, which represents San Diego State University in collegiate football (NCAA). It will also be the home of the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), and the San Diego Legion of Major League Rugby (MLR). Snapdragon Stadium broke ground on August 17, 2020 and is scheduled to open on September 3, 2022 for the Aztecs' season opener versus the Arizona Wildcats. Snapdragon Stadium is being built at the site of San Diego Stadium, which had been the home of the school's football program since the stadium opened in 1967. San Diego Stadium, also known as Jack Murphy Stadium, Qualcomm Stadium and SDCCU Stadium during its existence, also served as the home of the former San Diego Chargers of the National Football League (NFL) from 1967 through 2016, the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) for four home games during the canceled 2019 season, and the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1969 through 2003.

The 2013 San Diego State Aztecs football team represented San Diego State University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Aztecs were led by third-year head coach Rocky Long and played their home games at Qualcomm Stadium. They were members of the West Division of the Mountain West Conference. They finished the season 8–5, 6–2 in Mountain West play to finish in second place in the West Division. They were invited to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl where they defeated Buffalo.

San Diego Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in San Diego, California. The stadium opened in 1967 as San Diego Stadium and was known as Jack Murphy Stadium from 1981 to 1997. From 1997 to 2017, the stadium's naming rights were owned by San Diego-based telecommunications equipment company Qualcomm, and the stadium was known as Qualcomm Stadium. The naming rights expired on June 14, 2017, and were purchased by San Diego County Credit Union, renaming the facility as SDCCU Stadium on September 19, 2017; those naming rights expired in December 2020. Demolition of San Diego Stadium began in December 2020 with the last freestanding section of the stadium's superstructure felled by March 22, 2021. Following the demolition of San Diego Stadium, the site became the location of the San Diego State Aztecs football team's new Snapdragon Stadium. San Diego Stadium was the home of the Aztecs team from San Diego State University from 1967 until 2019. One college football bowl game, the Holiday Bowl, was held in the stadium every December. It was also briefly the home of the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football in early 2019. The stadium was the longtime home of two professional franchises: the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League (NFL) and the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Chargers played at the stadium from 1967 through the 2016 season, after which they moved to Los Angeles to become the Los Angeles Chargers. The Padres played home games at the stadium from their founding in 1969 through the 2003 season, when they moved to Petco Park in downtown San Diego. The stadium was also home to a second college bowl game, the Poinsettia Bowl, from 2005 until its discontinuation following the 2016 edition. The stadium hosted three Super Bowls: Super Bowl XXII in 1988, Super Bowl XXXII in 1998, and Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003. It also hosted the 1978 and 1992 Major League Baseball All-Star Games, as well as games of the 1996 and 1998 National League Division Series, the 1984 and 1998 National League Championship Series, and the 1984 and 1998 World Series. It was the only stadium ever to host both the Super Bowl and the World Series in the same year (1998), and it was one of three stadiums to host the World Series, the MLB All-Star Game, and the Super Bowl, along with the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis and Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles. The stadium was located immediately northwest of the interchange of Interstates 8 and 15. The neighborhood surrounding the stadium is known as Mission Valley, in reference to the Mission San Diego de Alcalá, which is located to the east, and its placement in the valley of the San Diego River. The stadium was served by the Stadium station of the San Diego Trolley, accessible via the Green Line running toward Downtown San Diego to the west, and Santee to the east.

The Holiday Bowl is a post-season NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football bowl game that has been played annually since 1978. San Diego County Credit Union has been the game's title sponsor since 2017, and the bowl has been officially known as the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl. Past editions of the bowl were played at San Diego Stadium. Future editions are planned to be played at Petco Park in San Diego, under a five-year arrangement reached in 2021. Petco Park, the baseball park of the San Diego Padres, will be reconfigured to accommodate a football field. San Diego Stadium was demolished beginning in the autumn of 2020. The bowl has not been played since December 2019, due to impact from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Poinsettia Bowl was a post-season NCAA-sanctioned Football Bowl Subdivision college football bowl game played in San Diego, California, United States from 2005 to 2016. The game was originally played from 1952 to 1955 between military services teams; in 2005 it was re-created by the organizers of the Holiday Bowl. The new Poinsettia Bowls were played in late December each year at SDCCU Stadium in San Diego, California. The game's last sponsor was the San Diego County Credit Union, and it was named the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

Stadium station is a temporarily closed San Diego Trolley stop on the Green Line. The elevated station has an island platform as well as side platforms. It is located in the under-construction San Diego State University Mission Valley campus. It was originally built in the parking lot of the former SDCCU Stadium. When the stadium was in operation the station was frequently used during major stadium event days. The large parking lots around the former stadium served as a massive park and ride facility. Previously known as the Qualcomm Stadium station, it was renamed after Qualcomm's naming rights to the stadium expired in June 2017. The area around the station is undergoing re-development into part of San Diego State University's campus and Snapdragon Stadium for the San Diego State Aztecs football team. Prior to July 2005, this station was served by the Blue Line until service between Old Town Transit Center and Mission San Diego was replaced by the Green Line upon its introduction in conjunction with the opening of the Mission Valley East extension. The station was closed on November 1, 2020, for 2 years until the new SDSU Snapdragon Stadium opens in 2022.

California Miramar University (CMU) is a private for-profit university in San Diego, California. The university offers degree programs through distance education and a combination of on-line and classroom (hybrid) delivery. It is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission.

Fenton Parkway is a station on San Diego Trolley's Green Line. This street-level station has side platforms. It is located near Fenton Parkway and the San Diego River. The station is near a large apartment complex, several office parks, and Fenton Marketplace in the Mission Valley East neighborhood. This station opened on September 19, 2000, as an 'infill' station (i.e. it was not an original station when the line opened in 1997). As such, Fenton Parkway is the only infill station on the current Green Line. It was served by Blue Line trolleys until July 2005, when service between Old Town Transit Center and Mission San Diego (and points eastward) was replaced by Green Line upon its introduction in conjunction with the opening of the Mission Valley East extension.

Mission San Diego is a station on San Diego Trolley's Green Line. The street-level station has side platforms. It is located in the Grantville neighborhood near the Mission San Diego de Alcalá and National University's San Diego campus. From the station's opening in late 1997, this station was the former terminus for the Blue Line trolleys until the July 2005 introduction of the Green Line service, in conjunction with the opening of the Mission Valley East extension, pushed the Blue Line's terminus back to Old Town Transit Center.With the Blue Line's truncation, all Green Line trolleys now serve the former portion of the Blue Line from Old Town to this station and points eastward. (A system redesign on September 2, 2012, truncated the Blue Line's terminus farther to the America Plaza station and extended the Green Line's terminus from Old Town to 12th & Imperial Transit Center.)

Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá (Spanish: Misión San Diego de Alcalá) was the first Franciscan mission in The Californias, a province of New Spain. Located in present-day San Diego, California, it was founded on July 16, 1769, by Spanish friar Junípero Serra in an area long inhabited by the Kumeyaay people. The mission and the surrounding area were named for the Catholic saint Didacus of Alcalá, a Spaniard more commonly known as San Diego. The mission was the site of the first Christian burial in Alta California. The original mission burned in 1775 during an uprising by local natives San Diego is also generally regarded as the site of the region's first public execution, in 1778. Father Luis Jayme, California's first Christian martyr who was among those killed during the 1775 uprising against the mission, lies entombed beneath the chancel floor. The current church, built in the early 19th century, is the fifth to stand on this location. The mission site is a National Historic Landmark.

Its ecclesiastical territory includes all of San Diego and Imperial Counties in Southern California, with a Catholic population of approximately 1.4 million. The diocese is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Rio Vista is a station on the San Diego Trolley's Green Line. The street-level station has side platforms. It is located near Qualcomm Way and the San Diego River. The station is a part of the Rio Vista development, which includes apartments and office parks in the Mission Valley East neighborhood. Before July 2005, this station was served by the Blue Line until service between Old Town Transit Center and Mission San Diego was replaced by the Green Line upon its introduction in conjunction with the opening of the Mission Valley East extension.
