The New Town Rivulet (commonly known as Newtown Creek) is a permanently flowing creek in Hobart, Tasmania, that has as its headwaters the springs and snow water run-offs of Mount Wellington.

Moonah is a residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Glenorchy in the Hobart LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south-east of the town of Glenorchy. The 2016 census recorded a population of 5421 for the state suburb of Moonah. It is a suburb in the city of Hobart, located approximately 5 km north of the central business district of Hobart, and lying directly north of the inner city suburb New Town.

Derwent Park Road is a major link road that connects the Brooker Highway to the Main Road, in the northern suburbs of Hobart, Tasmania. The Road starts at Main Road, Derwent Park and continues East across the Brooker Highway, ending at the Hobart Zinc Works. The road serves in excess of 14,000 vehicles per day.

Risdon Zinc Works (trading as Nyrstar Hobart) is a major zinc refinery located in Lutana, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The smelter is one of the world’s largest in terms of production volume, producing over 280,000 tonnes (280,000 long tons; 310,000 short tons) annually of high-grade zinc, primarily as die-cast alloys and continuous galvanising-grade alloys. These products are exported for global markets and utilised in a wide range of industries and products, from building and infrastructure to transportation, business equipment, communications, electronics, and consumer goods. The facility produces zinc using the Roast, Leach, Electrowinning (RLE) method, creating leach byproducts, including cadmium, gypsum, copper sulphate, lead sulphate, sulphuric acid, paragoethite and leach concentrate. The refinery has been owned and operated by the global multi-metals business Nyrstar since 2007. Nyrstar Hobart works closely with the Nyrstar Port Pirie multi-metals smelter in South Australia. The facility is Tasmania's largest exporter, contributing 25% of the state's overall export value in 2013.

New Town High School was a government comprehensive junior secondary school for boys (in Years 7 and 8) and co-educational (from Years 9 to 12). The school is located in New Town, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Established in 1919, the school caters for approximately 700 students from Years 7 to 12. The school is administered by the Tasmanian Department of Education. In 2019 student enrolments were 698. The school principal is Shane Fuller. It was merged with Ogilvie High School to form Hobart City High School from the 2022 school year. The New Town High School site is referred to as the New Town Campus of the new school.

The Tasmanian Hockey Centre, is a government owned outdoor field hockey stadium located in New Town, a northern suburb of Hobart. It offers three international standard water-based hockey pitches which are used for both international and domestic competition, as well as training activities.The stadium is home to the Tassie Tigers men's and women's hockey teams in Hockey Australia's premier domestic league, the Sultana Bran Hockey One League.

Cornelian Bay Cemetery is a cemetery in Cornelian Bay, Tasmania, Australia. It is the oldest cemetery in Tasmania that remains in use.

Moonah Arts Centre (MAC) is a publicly funded multi-arts hub in Moonah, Tasmania, a northern suburb of Hobart. Since opening on 6 March 2015 at a cost of AU$4 million, the centre stages exhibitions, live music, theatre, workshops and community festivals year-round. MAC is owned and operated by the Glenorchy City Council.

Prince of Wales Bay is located on the western shore of the River Derwent in southern Tasmania, Australia. It is located between the suburbs of Dowsing Point, Goodwood and Lutana. The area is home to two public parks, Giblin Reserve and Prince of Wales Bay Reserve. It is also home to a softball/baseball ground and hockey courts. It was the site of the first military encampment in Hobart.Like its neighbouring suburb, Derwent Park, Prince of Wales Bay is home to light industry, and contains few houses. It is administered by the Tasmanian Department of Education. Hobart City High School has two main campuses called Oglivie and New Town to recognize the previous schools. As of 2022, the school's lead principal is Deb Day.
