Church of the Annunciation (Minneapolis)

On the morning of August 27, 2025, a mass shooting occurred at the Church of the Annunciation in the Windom neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. The attack took place during a scheduled school-wide Mass attended by the students and faculty of Annunciation Catholic School. Two children, Fletcher Merkel and Harper Moyski, died in the shooting. Twenty-one other people were injured, including eighteen schoolchildren and three senior citizens. The perpetrator was identified as Robin M. Westman.

Washburn Library, formerly Washburn Community Library, is a public library in the Hennepin County Library system. Opened in September 1970, Washburn Library, located at 5244 Lyndale Avenue South in Minneapolis, began with a footprint of 14,451 square feet (1,342.5 m2) and approximately 18,000 books. Designed by Brooks Cavin, an architect who studied under Walter Gropius and Eero Saarinen, Washburn reflected mid-century modernism. Set near Minnehaha Creek, Washburn meets the needs of Southwest Minneapolis in a picturesque neighborhood. Patron traffic quickly rose and broke all records: to meet demand, library staff requested other branches to share their materials. Phonograph albums and children's books were particularly popular. In the first year of service, Washburn circulated 273,000 books, higher than any other Minneapolis Public Library (MPL) branch at the time. Named for William D. Washburn, who was a founder of Washburn-Crosby Milling Company, and a United States Senator, Washburn Library's public art includes a millstone, honoring Minneapolis' heritage as a grain milling center in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Washburn-Crosby Milling Company is now known as General Mills.

The Washburn Park Water Tower is a landmark in the Tangle town neighborhood of south Minneapolis, Minnesota, built in 1931. It is located on top of one of the highest points of south Minneapolis. The tower is considered an unofficial "beacon" for incoming planes landing at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport; however, it is not as visible to passers-by at the base of the hill due to the large homes and tall oak trees scattered on the hillside.The Washburn Park Water Tower is one of three stone water towers built in Minneapolis during the early 20th century. The other two are Kenwood Park Water Tower, just west of downtown, and Prospect Park Water Tower, in northeast Minneapolis.

Tangletown is a neighborhood in the Southwest community of Minneapolis. The neighborhood was officially known as Fuller until 1996 when it was changed to the present name, which reflects the winding streets in the neighborhood that do not conform to the regular street grid of South Minneapolis. The neighborhood boundaries are 46th Street to the north, Interstate 35W to the east, Diamond Lake Road to the south, and Lyndale Avenue South to the west. The Washburn Park Water Tower is located at the highest point in the neighborhood, while Minnehaha Creek runs through the south side of the neighborhood. Washburn High School and Justice Page Middle School are located in this neighborhood.

Washburn High School is a four-year public high school serving grades 9–12 in the Tangletown neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. By enrollment, Washburn is the second-largest high school in Minneapolis Public Schools.

Lynnhurst is a neighborhood in the Southwest community in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its boundaries are 46th Street to the north, Lyndale Avenue to the east, 54th Street to the south, and Penn Avenue to the west. It is located along the southeastern shore of Lake Harriet. Outflows from the lake run through a parkway for several city blocks to reach Minnehaha Creek. Public schools in the neighborhood include Burroughs Community School. The Lynnhurst Recreation Center, part of the Minneapolis parks system, includes a gymnasium, meeting rooms, and other facilities; nearby Lynnhurst Park includes baseball and softball fields, a playground, and tennis courts. Washburn Library, a branch of the Hennepin County Library system, stands next to Minnehaha Creek near the southeast corner of the district. Houses of worship include Shir Tikvah and Mount Olivet Lutheran Church. Shops and restaurants are clustered near the eastern edge of the district. Metro Transit provides bus service on neighborhood thoroughfares. The Lynnhurst Neighborhood Association holds meetings each month at the Lynnhurst Recreation Center.

The Harry W. Jones House is a historic house in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, in the Tangletown neighborhood. Harry Wild Jones was one of the most notable architects in Minneapolis, with a career spanning nearly 50 years. His designs included the Butler Brothers Warehouse, the chapel in Lakewood Cemetery, and the Washburn Park Water Tower. His own home, built in 1887, was one of the first homes in the Washburn Park area and influenced the design of other homes in the area. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Museum of Russian Art (TMORA), a nonprofit museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, is the only major institution in North America devoted entirely to Russian art and culture from the entire scope of Russia's history. The Museum was founded by prominent art collectors Raymond and Susan Johnson, owners of the largest collection of Russian Realist paintings outside the borders of the former Soviet Union. TMORA was incorporated as a nonprofit in 2002 and opened at its present location in 2005. The museum shows 8-10 exhibitions per year, and hosts over 50 annual events ranging from notable lecturers to classical concerts to theatrical readings. TMORA is open daily, located between Downtown Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Saint Paul Airport.

The Charles and Grace Parker House is a house in the Lynnhurst neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota southeast of Lake Harriet. It was designed by notable local architects Purcell, Feick & Elmslie in the Prairie School style. Architecture critic Larry Millett calls it one of Purcell and Elmslie's greatest houses, citing the broad gabled roof, the groupings of windows, the side porch, and the detail surrounding the entry. The entrance includes a fretsawn arch and a frieze above the door, with beams and a pair of pendants on either side. George Grant Elmslie designed the leaded glass windows. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Kenny is a neighborhood in the Southwest community in Minneapolis. Its boundaries are West 54th Street to the north, Lyndale Avenue South and Highway 121 to the east, West 62nd Street (Highway 62) to the south, and Logan Avenue South to the west. Kenny contains one body of water, called Grass Lake. It has one elementary school called Kenny Elementary School, and has one middle school called Susan B. Anthony Middle School.

Page is a neighborhood in the Nokomis community in Minneapolis. Its boundaries are the Minnehaha Creek to the north, Chicago Avenue to the east, Diamond Lake Road and East 55th Street to the south, and Interstate 35W to the west. Page shares a neighborhood organization with the Hale and Diamond Lake neighborhoods. The neighborhood is named after the now demolished Page Elementary School, which was in turn named in honor of author and diplomat Walter Hines Page.
