Kilmaine (barony)

Kilmaine or Kilmain (Irish: Cill Mheáin) is a barony and village in County Mayo, Ireland.

Roundfort (Irish: Lois na Maol) is a parish in County Mayo, Ireland with a church (Church of the Immaculate Conception), school (Roundfort National School), a playschool and a local pub (Delia Murphy's). Farming is the main provider within the parish for those who do not work in neighbouring towns and cities such as Ballinrobe, Claremorris, Castlebar and Galway and further afield.

Hollymount railway station was a branch on the Ballinrobe to Claremorris branch line of the Midland Great Western Railway in Hollymount, County Mayo. The line was developed by the Ballinrobe and Claremorris Light Railway Company which had been founded in 1884 and the stop opened in 1892. The company was absorbed into the Midland Great Western Railway in 1924. The station closed for passenger traffic on 1 June 1930 and closed entirely in 1960. It was the only stop on the branch line from Claremorris to Ballinrobe.

Hollymount (Irish: Maolla) is a village on the R331 regional road in County Mayo, Ireland. It lies midway between the towns of Ballinrobe and Claremorris in the plains of south Mayo. It has a post office, a mini-mart, a community centre (Cois Abhainn), a small fuel/petrol station, and various public houses. It also has a Gaelic Athletic Association pitch and health clinic. It has a population of approximately 60 residents.It was named after the nearby Hollymount Estate, although the village lies within the townland of Kilush.

Robeen is a parish in County Mayo, Ireland with a church (Our Lady of Sorrows), school (Robeen National School), crèche (Robeen Rascals) and pub (Trenches). Although the parish has a parochial house and priest based there, the parish priest is based in the neighbouring parish of Roundfort. There are also some bed and breakfasts and holiday homes in the parish. Shrule (Irish: Sruthair, also anglicised to Shruel, usage deprecated) is a village on the N84 road in County Mayo in Ireland. The county boundary between Mayo and County Galway follows the course of the Black River on the south side of the village. The ruin of Shrule Castle, a fortification built by the Norman de Burgo family, dominates the view of the village as approached from the Galway side. Although there is a gate to get into it, the ruin is unsafe and closed to the public.

Shrule Castle (Irish: Caislen Sruthair, meaning 'Castle of the River') is a ruined tower house near Shrule in County Mayo, Ireland. The castle was built c.1238, near the Black River at the County Mayo and County Galway border by the de Burgh family. It was given to John de Burgh in 1308 by his father Richard Óg de Burgh, 2nd Earl of Ulster.

Neale, also known as the Neale (Irish: An Éill), is a small village in the south of County Mayo in Ireland. It is located near the villages of Cong 4 km to the south-west, Cross 4 km to the south and the town of Ballinrobe about 5 km to the north.

Ballinrobe (Irish: Baile an Róba, meaning 'town of the (river) Robe') is a town in County Mayo in Ireland. It is located on the River Robe, which empties into Lough Mask two kilometres to the west. As of the 2016 census, the population was 2,786.
