Sunset is a town in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,897 at the 2010 census, up from 2,352 in 2000. It is part of the Opelousas–Eunice Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The Sunset High School in Sunset, Louisiana, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. Located at 223 Marie Street, it was designed by architect Herman J. Duncan and was built in 1926.It is a two-story masonry building. Its National Register nomination stated "Although the building's exterior does exhibit a few low-key decorative features, the school should be classified as having 'no style' for the purposes of this nomination." It was, however, deemed "significant in the area of education because its 1926 construction represents the 'coming of age' of public education in southwestern St. Landry Parish."

KNEK-FM (104.7 MHz, "Magic 104.7 KNEK") is a radio station playing an urban AC format in the Lafayette area. It broadcasts under ownership of Cumulus Media. Its studios are located on Galbert Road in Lafayette, and its transmitter is located south of Opelousas, Louisiana. The station used to be owned by Citadel Broadcasting. In 2007, Citadel transferred 11 of its radio stations (including KNEK-FM) to The Last Bastion Station Trust, LLC upon merger of many ABC Radio stations. However, in January 2008, Last Bastion Station Trust transferred KNEK-FM back to Citadel Broadcasting, effectively placing it back into the Lafayette cluster. In exchange for KNEK-FM, the trust received KRDJ. Citadel merged with Cumulus Media on September 16, 2011.

Chretien Point Plantation is a pre-Civil War twelve room red brick mansion, located on twenty acres on the banks of Bayou Bourbeaux, two miles southwest of Sunset, Louisiana in St. Landry Parish. A Civil War battle was fought on the plantation grounds and Jean Lafitte was a tenant. The mansion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Grand Coteau is a town in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 947 at the 2010 census. Grand Coteau is on Interstate 49 south of Opelousas and is part of the Opelousas–Eunice Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town is a center for local farming. As of 2018, the mayor is Patrick Richard.

Schools of the Sacred Heart is a complex of two Catholic single-sex private schools for grades Pre-Kindergarten-3 through grade 12 in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. The Academy of the Sacred Heart, is a PK3–12 girls' school founded in 1821 with residential accommodations for students in grades 9 through 12. It is operated independently within the Diocese of Lafayette. Its brother school, Berchmans Academy, is a PK3–12 boys' school founded in 2006.

St. Charles College was a private Jesuit college in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. Founded in 1837 by Jesuits from France and Kentucky, the school was the first Jesuit college established in the American South. It initially educated lay students exclusively until 1890, when it began functioning as a Jesuit scholasticate as well. In 1922, the college closed, and the campus was used only to train Jesuit novices. Today, the campus continues to be used for the training of Jesuits, as well as a retreat center and a home for elderly Jesuits. The surviving structures date to 1909 and are contributing properties of the Grand Coteau Historic District.

Cankton is a village in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 484 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Opelousas–Eunice Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Beau Chêne High School is a public secondary school located in southeastern St. Landry Parish between the communities of Grand Coteau and Arnaudville in the state of Louisiana, United States. The school was founded in 1991 when Sunset, Leonville, and Arnaudville High Schools were consolidated to form one centralized high school. The school serves the communities of Arnaudville, Cankton, Grand Coteau, Leonville, and Sunset. It is located at 7076 Highway 93, Arnaudville, Louisiana. Beau Chene High School has been cited for demonstrating inclusion among all their students.Beau Chêne is accredited by the State of Louisiana's Department of Education.

The Frozard Plantation House, near Grand Coteau, Louisiana, was built around 1842 and was expanded in 1901. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It has also been known as the Olivier Plantation.It is located about 3 miles (4.8 km) south or east of Grand Coteau off Louisiana Highway 93.

The Our Lady of the Assumption School is a historic Black Catholic school complex located at 410 North Michaud Street in Carencro, Louisiana. The school complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 29, 2001.

Vatican is an unincorporated community in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, United States.The community is named after Vatican City with street names such as Vatican Road, Vatican Square Drive, Pope Drive, and Bishop Street. It is located near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 93 and Vatican Road.
