Maido (restaurant)

The Tarata bombing, known also as the Miraflores bombing or Lima bombing, was a terrorist attack carried out in Tarata Street, located in Miraflores District of Lima, Peru, on 16 July 1992, by the Shining Path terrorist group. The blast was the deadliest Shining Path bombing during the Internal conflict in Peru and was part of a larger bombing campaign in the city. The explosions happened next to the important Avenida Larco, in the business area of Miraflores, an upscale district of the city. Two trucks, each packed with 1,000 kg of explosives, exploded on the street at 9:15 pm next to the Banco de Crédito del Perú Bank located in Larco Avenue, killing 25 and wounding 155. The blast destroyed or damaged 183 homes, 400 businesses and 63 parked cars. The bombings were the beginning of a week-long Shining Path strike against the Peruvian government, a strike which caused 40 deaths and shut down much of the capital.In the wake of the incident, galvanized by public outrage, President Alberto Fujimori intensified his crackdown on Peruvian insurgent groups, culminating in the capture on September of the same year of Shining Path leader, Abimael Guzmán, itself leading to the beginning of the end of the insurgency for the group and a decrease in terrorist activities, with fewer attacks happening after the capture of Guzmán.

The Municipal Palace of Miraflores (Spanish: Palacio Municipal de Miraflores) is the current headquarters of the municipal corporation of the Lima district of Miraflores in Peru. It is located at number 400 Larco Avenue, in front of Miraflores Central Park. It was declared a national monument in 1999.

Miraflores Central Park (Spanish: Parque Central de Miraflores), also known as Miraflores Park (Spanish: Parque de Miraflores), is a public park located in Miraflores, Lima, Peru. It is divided into two parks: John F. Kennedy Park (Spanish: Parque John F. Kennedy) and 7 June Park (Spanish: Parque 7 de Junio). The former gives the entire park complex its popular name, Kennedy Park.The park is known for its large presence of street cats, and is commonly used for events such as book fairs and marathons, as well as Fiestas Patrias celebrations such as the Corso Wong, and political and social protests.

Eduardo Villena Rey Bridge (Spanish: Puente Eduardo Villena Rey) is an arch bridge in Miraflores, Lima, Peru. It joins the Malecón de Miraflores and crosses the Bajada Balta.

The Larcomar is a shopping center in the Miraflores district of Lima, Peru owned by Chilean company Parque Arauco S.A. It was opened on 27 November 1998. It is frequently visited by international tourists, as well as by locals from Miraflores and other parts of Lima. It is located on Avenida Jose Larco, and it is along the cliff next to the ocean (mar means 'sea' in Spanish) thus the name Larcomar. The Larcomar has indoor and outdoor areas, includes a cinema, bowling lanes, a food court, museum, tourist shops, Tony Roma's, T.G.I. Friday's, and Chili's restaurants, book stores, clothing stores, and electronics stores. It is directly across the street from the Marriott hotel.

The JW Marriott Hotel Lima, known locally as the Marriott Hotel (Spanish: Hotel Marriott), is a modern building complex and five-star high-rise hotel located next to Larcomar, at the intersection of José Larco Avenue and the Malecón de Miraflores in Miraflores District, Lima, Peru. Belonging to the Marriott Hotels & Resorts hotel chain, the two-tower complex houses the hotel, a casino, restaurants and an office building known as the Torre Parque Mar, which houses the embassies of the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

The Quinta Leuro is an estate located in the district of Miraflores, Lima, Peru.

El Beso (The Kiss) is a large sculpture in the "Parque del Amor" (Love Park) by the Pacific Ocean in the Miraflores district of Lima, Peru. It depicts the sculptor, Victor Delfín, and his wife kissing. According to local accounts, the mayor of the district holds (or used to hold) a competition for the couple who could sustain the longest kiss, and this sculpture celebrates this. The park is supposedly inspired by Antoni Gaudí's Parc Guell in Barcelona.

Central Restaurante is a restaurant located in the Barranco District, Lima, Peru. Central Restaurante is the flagship restaurant of Peruvian chef, Virgilio Martínez Véliz, and serves as his workshop in the investigation and integration of indigenous Peruvian ingredients into the restaurant's menu. The restaurant is known for its contemporary interpretation and presentation of Peruvian cuisine. GQ Latinoamérica calls Central Restaurante "the heart of his Virgilio Martínez Véliz gastronomic philosophy." In 2012, Central Restaurante was named Best Restaurant of Peru by the Peruvian dining guide, SUMMUM. In 2013, Central Restaurante entered as number 50 in The World's 50 Best Restaurants as awarded by the British magazine Restaurant., and in 2014 jumped 35 places receiving "Highest Climber" recognition and ranking as number 15 in the world. On August 21, 2014, Central Restaurante for the third consecutive year was awarded Best Restaurant of Peru by the Peruvian Dining Guide, SUMMUM, and additionally received awards for Best Contemporary Peruvian cuisine and Best Sommelier.Central has been named the best restaurant in Latin America for 3 consecutive years (2014, 2015, and 2016) and ranked 2nd in 2017, and again at number 1 in 2022. It is also ranked among the World's 50 Best Restaurants ranking 4th in the world in 2015 and 2016, 5th in 2017, 6th in 2018, and 2nd in 2022.

The Malecón de Miraflores is an esplanade in the coast of Lima, Peru. It's a major tourist attraction in the city.

The Raúl Porras Barrenechea Institute of the National University of San Marcos (IRPB-UNMSM) was founded in 1964 by the University of San Marcos in honor of the distinguished alum, Peruvian historian and diplomat Raúl Porras Barrenechea. The institute acts as a Center for Higher Studies and Peruvian Research, developing and promoting research mainly related to the areas of humanities, arts and social sciences. To this end, the institute offers researchers and the general public a library specialized in the mentioned fields.The institute also is responsible for the Historic house museum Raúl Porras Barrenechea, a building declared a "Historical and Artistic Monument" and "Cultural heritage of Peru" in 1980. The location preserves and permanently exhibits works of art, furniture, paintings, sculptures, photographs, family and personal memories of Porras Barrenechea; the Archivo Porras; and the museum of Peruvian writers. It is located in the Miraflores district and is a neighbor of the historic house museum Ricardo Palma, which allows it to develop fully the purpose for which it was founded, being one of the centers of the cultural activity in the country. The house-museum is also the final and most important point of the Literary Route "Mario Vargas Llosa", one of the winners of the international competition Walking Visionaires Awards organized by Walk21Vienna in 2015.The building of the current institute has been for decades one of the leading intellectual lights of Lima, both during the life and after the death of professor Porras Barrenechea. Among the Peruvian intellectuals who have had a significant connection with the house of Porras Barrenechea are: Mario Vargas Llosa, Pablo Macera, Carlos Araníbar, Luis Jaime Cisneros, Hugo Neira, Jorge Basadre, Raúl Ferrero Rebagliati, Félix Álvarez Brun, Jorge Puccinelli, Carlos Alzamora, Miguel Maticorena, René Hooper, Antonio Garrido Aranda, Emilio Vásquez, Luis Loayza, María Rostworowski, and Waldemar Espinoza.
