The Mission Bay Yacht Club is a private yacht club located in San Diego, California, on the west side of Mission Bay.The club hosted the Snipe World Championships in 1997 and the club's Snipe fleet won the Commodore Hub E. Isaacks Trophy in 1969, 1971 and 1981.

Mission Beach is a community built on a sandbar between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay. It is part of the city of San Diego, California. Mission Beach spans nearly two miles of ocean front. It is bounded by the San Diego River estuary on the south, Mission Bay Park on the east, and the community of Pacific Beach on the north. A boardwalk runs along the beaches on both the ocean and bay sides of the community. The main artery through Mission Beach is Mission Boulevard. The community is divided into South Mission, a peninsula, and North Mission. At the south end of the beach a jetty, with grass, parking and a walk, extends into the ocean.

Mission Bay is a human-made saltwater bay located south of the Pacific Beach community of San Diego, California created from approximately 2,000 acres (810 ha) of historical wetland, marsh, and saltwater bay habitat. The bay is part of the recreational Mission Bay Park, the largest man-made aquatic park in the United States, consisting of 4,235 acres (17.14 km2), approximately 46% land and 54% water. The combined area makes Mission Bay Park the ninth largest municipally-owned park in the United States. The bay was created to enhance recreational opportunities in San Diego, but doing so has fundamentally altered the ecology of San Diego county by removing all but 40 acres (16 ha), or approximately 5%, of wetland habitat. Wakeboarding, jet skiing, sailing, camping, cycling, jogging, roller skating and skateboarding, or sunbathing are all popular around the bay. Mission Bay Yacht Club, on the west side of the bay, conducts sailing races year-round in the bay and the nearby Pacific Ocean and has produced national sailing champions in many classes. Also on the west side of Mission Bay lies Mission Bay Sportcenter, which offers not only boat rentals in Mission Bay, but has the largest aquatic Youth Camp in San Diego. Fiesta Island, a large peninsular park located within Mission Bay, has a large off-leash dog park and is a popular location for charity walks and runs, bicycle races, time trials and other special events like an over-the-line tournament. It is also home to an impressive diversity of rare, threatened, and endangered bird and plant species, despite the popularity of the area for people and dogs.Mission Bay is also host to the annual Bayfair Cup, which is a hydroplane boat race that takes place on the H1 Unlimited circuit.

Tourmaline Surfing Park is a beach access point and a surf spot in North Pacific Beach, San Diego, California, USA. The park is situated at the northern end of Pacific Beach, a short distance south of where the sand beach ends and the rocky promontory of La Jolla begins. There are cliffs to the north and south of Tourmaline Surfing Park, but the park itself lies in Tourmaline Canyon, which cuts down through those cliffs to the beach. Tourmaline Surfing Park is less than 1000 feet west of the point where Tourmaline Street crosses La Jolla Boulevard. Reaching the park involves a steep, palm-lined descent through Tourmaline Canyon to a fairly large parking lot, which is slightly elevated but situated right beside the beach. There are showers and restrooms, as well as railings and places to sit.

The Giant Dipper, also known as the Mission Beach Roller Coaster and historically by other names, is a historical wooden roller coaster located in Belmont Park, a small amusement park in the Mission Beach area of San Diego, California. Built in 1925, it and its namesake at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk are the only remaining wooden roller coasters on the West Coast designed by noted roller coaster designers Frank Prior and Frederick Church, and the only one whose construction they supervised. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

Belmont Park is a historic amusement park located on Ocean Front at Surfrider Square in the Mission Bay area of San Diego, California. The park was developed by sugar magnate John D. Spreckels and opened on July 4, 1925 as the Mission Beach Amusement Center. In addition to providing recreation and amusement, it also was intended as a way to help Spreckels sell land in Mission Beach. Located on the beach, it attracts millions of people each year. The park's most iconic attraction is the historic Giant Dipper roller coaster, which is considered a local landmark.

Kate Sessions Memorial Park is large park on Mount Soledad, in San Diego, California in San Diego County. The parks is named after Kate Sessions, Sessions was a botanist, horticulturalist, and landscape architect who lived and worked in San Diego. Sessions is known as the "Mother of Balboa Park." Sessions started as school teacher and worked in a flower shop before becoming San Diego's head botanist.The park as many walking trails, picnic tables, BBQ, natural habitat, rest rooms, a seasonal creek and the Kate Sessions Park playground. The park also as dog friendly places. From the park there are views of Mission Bay, the Pacific Ocean and the city. The park was make at Sessions request and was orgainally called the Soledad Terrace Park in 1957 the park was renamed Kate Sessions Memorial Park on Sessions 100th birthday.The address of the park is 5115 Soledad Road, San Diego, California.Sessions has a California Historical Landmark No. 764 listed on April 28, 1961, at the corner of Garnet Ave and Pico Street in San Diego, where her Nursery was.

The Real World: San Diego is the twenty-sixth season of MTV's reality television series The Real World, which focuses on a group of diverse strangers living together for several months in a different city each season, as cameras follow their lives and interpersonal relationships. It is the sixth season of The Real World to be filmed in the Pacific States region of the United States, specifically in California after The Real World: Hollywood. The season featured a cast of seven people who lived in a house located in the San Diego suburb of La Jolla. It is the sixth season to take place in a city that had hosted a previous season, as the show's fourteenth season was set in San Diego in 2004. It is also the fifth season to be located in California. San Diego was first reported as the location for the 26th season by the website Vevmo on June 7, 2011. Production began from June to September 9, 2011 and the season premiered on September 28 of that year, consisting of 12 episodes.

Mission Bay High School (MBHS), is a public high school located in the San Diego, California community of Pacific Beach. It is a magnet school with emphasis on Academic Studies. In Fall 2006, Mission Bay introduced International Baccalaureate courses that students could take to help them get their I.B. diploma. The Mission Bay High jazz program is home to the Award-winning and touring Mission Bay Preservationists, as well as the Mission Bay Mambo Orchestra, the only youth-Latin big band in California. The music program also includes a concert band, string orchestra, full-size symphonic orchestra, swing and concert choirs, and the aforementioned 2 jazz-bands. The music program has been taught by Jean-Paul Balmat since 2006, becoming Mission Bay High's music educator after a 2-year hiatus from 2004-2006. The racial make-up of Mission Bay High is American Indian - 13 (1%), Asian - 174 (10%), Black - 242 (14%,) Hispanic - 876 (52%), White - 369 (22%). Approximately 83% of the school is bused from other parts of San Diego such as Logan Heights, Sherman, Shell Town, Mount Hope, Lincoln Park, Valencia Park, Encanto, Skyline, Paradise Hills, City Heights, and Scripps Ranch.

Bird Rock is a seaside neighborhood within the larger community of La Jolla in San Diego, California. It lies on the Pacific Ocean at the southernmost end of La Jolla, just north of Pacific Beach. The mostly residential neighborhood includes homes for 1,400 to 1,500 families, with a commercial district along the main street, La Jolla Boulevard. The shore is rocky and has no beach, but offshore reefs are used for surfing.

Katherine Olivia Sessions (November 8, 1857 – March 24, 1940) was an American botanist, horticulturalist, and landscape architect closely associated with San Diego, California, and known as the "Mother of Balboa Park."

HMCS Yukon was a Mackenzie-class destroyer that served in the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and later the Canadian Forces. She was the first Canadian naval unit to carry the name. She was named for the Yukon River that runs from British Columbia through Yukon and into Alaska in the United States. Entering service in 1963, she was primarily used as a training ship on the west coast. She was decommissioned in 1993 and sold for use as an artificial reef and sunk as such at Sunken Harbor off San Diego, California in 2000.
