The Odessa massacre was the mass murder of the Jewish population of Odessa and surrounding towns in the Transnistria Governorate during the autumn of 1941 and the winter of 1942 while it was under Romanian control. It was one of the worst massacres in the Ukrainian territory.Depending on the accepted terms of reference and scope, the Odessa massacre refers either to the events of October 22–24, 1941 in which some 25,000 to 34,000 Jews were shot or burned, or to the murder of well over 100,000 Ukrainian Jews in the town and the areas between the Dniester and Bug rivers, during the Romanian and German occupation which took place following the massacre. As of 2018, it was estimated that up to 30,000 people, mostly Ukrainian Jews, were murdered in the actual massacre, which occurred October 22–23, 1941. The primary perpetrators were Romanian soldiers, Einsatzgruppe SS and local ethnic Germans.

The Ukrainian Catholic Archiepiscopal Exarchate of Krym (Latin: Archiepiscopi Exarchatus Crimenses) was established on 13 February 2014 from the Ukrainian Catholic Archiepiscopal Exarchate of Odesa – Crimea. Because of the Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation in March 2014 some part of faithful and clergy left the Exarchate and Exarch was not appointed. Currently Exarchate is governing by Archiepiscopal Administrator from Odesa. This is one from the only five Archiepiscopal Exarchates which exist in the world, all part of the particular Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and following the Byzantine Ukrainian Rite.

The Ukrainian Catholic Archiepiscopal Exarchate of Odesa – Crimea was established on 11 January 2002 from the Archiepiscopal Exarchate of Kyiv – Vyshhorod (which has now become the Ukrainian Catholic Major Archeparchy of Kyiv–Galicia). It has been divided on 13 February 2014, in Ukrainian Catholic Archiepiscopal Exarchate of Odesa (Latin: Archiepiscopi Exarchatus Odessana) and Ukrainian Catholic Archiepiscopal Exarchate of Crimea. The only archiepiscopal exarch was Archbishop Vasyl Ivasiuk, now transferred transfer to the see of the eparchy of Kolomyia-Chernivtsi of the Ukrainians. They are two of the only five archiepiscopal exarchates which exist in the world, all part of the particular Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and following the Byzantine Ukrainian Rite.

The Odesa Zoo has the status of a nature reserve of nationwide value, which was granted in 1992. The collection of the zoo is about 1,600 animals (243 types), a part from which are mentioned in International Red Book, red book of Ukraine and European Red List. The Odesa Zoo is located in downtown Odesa, opposite Odesa's Pryvoz Market, 25 Novoshepnoy Ryad Street.

The Odesa Military Academy is a modern higher military institution of the inter-services Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is one of the oldest military academies in the former Russian Empire, having been active for more than a century. has deep historical traditions and more than a century of history. The academy conducts language training for servicemen and employees of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, advanced training of military personnel and scientific and pedagogical workers, and the preparation of students in the training of reserve officers.

The famous Pryvoz Market, located at 14 Pryvozna Street, is the largest food market in Odesa, Ukraine.

Museum of the Holocaust – victims of fascism, Odesa (Ukrainian: Музей "Голокосту – жертв фашизму", Одеса) – the first Museum in Ukraine, which is based on the events of the genocide of the Jewish population in Transnistria Governorate (the territories which were from 1941 to 1943 under jurisdiction of Romania and occupied Odesa, Mykolaiv and part of Vinnytsia Oblast).

Odesa-Holovna railway station (Ukrainian: Одеса-Головна) is the main train station in Odesa in southern Ukraine. It was built in the second half of the 19th century. It was damaged in 1944 during World War II and was rebuilt in 1952. It is situated in the city center of Odesa.

Kartamyshevska Street (Ukrainian: Вулиця Картамишевська) is a street in the historical district of Moldavanka in Odesa, Ukraine. Residents of Odesa refer to the street as Kartamyshevska, omitting the word "street". It is in postal code 65091.

Kulykove Pole (Ukrainian: Куликове поле, lit. 'Wader Field') is a garden square and necropolis located in the Prymorskyi raion of Odesa, in a historical centre of the city. It is located near Odesa railway station. Over the years the square has been known for various festivities. In times of the Russian Empire, it was the site of Easter, Christmas and military parades, the 1909 celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Muscovy victory in the Battle of Poltava, the 100th Anniversary of the end of the French invasion of Russia, and other events. During the Soviet times, it was the site of military parades and 1 May demonstrations. In Ukraine, Kulykove Pole is known as a place of the annual Humorina celebration on April Fools' Day. The etymology of the place's name is uncertain and still under discussion. One hypothesis links the name to a family called Kulikowski who had their estate on the site. Another suggests it was named after the Battle of Kulikovo.

Army Sports Club Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Odesa, Ukraine. The stadium holds 15,000 people. The stadium is located close to the Kulykove Pole in Odesa, between Seminarska vulytsia and Pyrohovska vulytsia. The stadium was built in 1966 in place of the old wooden Kharchovyk Stadium that existed in its place since 1927. The initiative to rebuilt the stadium belonged to the Soviet general Hamazasp Babadzhanian. The stadium was a home stadium of SKA Odesa and its successor municipal SC Odesa.
