SIGMA Clermont is a French graduate engineering school and is a public institution under the authority of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. It is located in Aubière, Clermont-Ferrand metropolitan area, France. It was created on 01.01.2016 following the merger of the French Institute for Advanced Mechanics (IFMA) and the National Graduate School of Chemistry (ENSCCF). SIGMA Clermont is a member of the French Conference of graduate engineering schools, and the Gay-Lussac Federation, which comprises 20 French chemistry schools. It is also an associated member of the Mines-Télécom network. SIGMA Clermont offers two degrees in engineering, recognized by the national engineering commission: engineer in chemistry and engineer in advanced mechanics. These degrees are equivalent to a Master of Science. Furthermore, SIGMA Clermont, situated in the Les Cézeaux science campus, is a member of Clermont University and Associates, the local higher education association.

2008 World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships is the third in a series of World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships (also called World Masters Athletics Championships Indoor, or WMACi). This third edition took place in Clermont-Ferrand, France, from 17 to 22 March 2008. The main venue was Jean-Pellez Stadium, which has a banked indoor track where the turns are raised to neutralize the centrifugal force of athletes running the curves. Supplemental venues included Clermont-Ferrand Sports Hall for opening ceremonies, Les Gravanches for Half Marathon and 10K Race Walk, and Stade Marcel-Michelin for Cross Country. This Championships was organized by World Masters Athletics (WMA) in coordination with a Local Organising Committee (LOC): Annie Laurent, Jean Gracia. The WMA is the global governing body of the sport of athletics for athletes 35 years of age or older, setting rules for masters athletics competition. A full range of indoor track and field events were held. In addition to indoor competition, non-stadia events included Half Marathon, 8K Cross Country, 10K Race Walk, Weight Throw, Hammer Throw, Discus Throw and Javelin Throw.

Aubière (French pronunciation: ​[objɛʁ]; Auvergnat: Aubèira) is a commune located in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in southeast France. As of 2017 its population was 10,061.The town is home to the Cézeaux campus of the University of Clermont Auvergne, a substantial number of sports teams, and a large commercial area.

The University of Auvergne (Université d'Auvergne), also known as “Universite d'Auvergne Clermont-Ferrand I” or Clermont-Ferrand I, was a French public university, based in Clermont-Ferrand, in the region of Auvergne. It was under the Academy of Clermont-Ferrand. It was the head of PRES Clermont Université consortium; PRES being the league of elite universities of France. On 1 January 2017, the university merged with Blaise Pascal University to form the University Clermont Auvergne. The Université d’Auvergne was founded in 1519 and as such in 1806 as a medical school.
