Gilley's Dallas

Gilley's Complex, known as Gilley's Dallas, is a multi-purpose entertainment and dining complex located in Dallas, Texas. The complex offers nine venues with capacities ranging from 350 to 4,000. These venues are: South Side Ballroom, South Side Music Hall, the Loft, Bonnie & Clyde’s, the Lone Star Room, the Brazos Room, the Saloon, the Pasadena Room, and the Federal Reserve Room. The complex was named for country music singer-songwriter Mickey Gilley, who performed at the club. On July 7, 2019, Impact Wrestling held Slammiversary XVII in the venue.

On the night of September 6, 2018, off-duty Dallas Police Department patrol officer Amber Guyger entered the Dallas, Texas, apartment of 26-year-old accountant Botham Jean and fatally shot him. Guyger, who said that she had entered the apartment believing it was her own and believed Jean to be a burglar, was initially charged with manslaughter. The absence of a murder charge led to protests and accusations of racial bias, since Jean was black and unarmed and was killed in his home by a white off-duty officer who had apparently disregarded police protocols. On November 30, 2018, Guyger was indicted on a charge of murder. On October 1, 2019, she was found guilty of murder, and was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment the following day. The ruling was upheld on appeal in 2021.

The Cedars is a district in south Dallas Texas (U.S.). It is adjacent to and south of downtown and Interstate 30, east of Austin Street, north of Corinth Street, and west of the 75 & 345 Overpasses just east of South Good Latimer Expy.

On June 13, 2015, James Boulware shot at the Dallas Police Department from an armored van with what appeared to be a semi-automatic rifle. The shooting occurred at the department's headquarters in the Cedars neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. He then led the police in a chase to nearby Hutchins, where he remained in the van in a standoff with police. The standoff ended when a police sniper fired a round from a .50-caliber rifle, disabling the engine block, as well as additional rounds into the vehicle to kill the driver. After sending in robots to confirm the shooting and attempt to make entry into the vehicle, water charges were used to breach the windshield. Police then verified that the suspect was the only person in the vehicle and that he was dead. Police also found four bags outside of the police headquarters containing pipe bombs.

Cedars is a DART Light Rail station in Dallas, Texas. It is located at Belleview and Wall Streets in the Cedars neighborhood of South Dallas. It opened on June 14, 1996, and is on the Red and Blue lines, serving Old City Park with connecting service to Fair Park, as well as the Dallas Police Department headquarters.

Dallas CBD Vertiport (IATA: JDB, FAA LID: 49T) is a city-owned public heliport/vertiport in the city of Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, United States. The facility is located at the south end of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in the Dallas Central Business District, and is claimed to be the world's largest elevated heliport/vertiport.Most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but Dallas CBD Vertiport is assigned 49T by the FAA and JDB by the IATA.The facility is used solely for general aviation purposes.

It is located at Memorial Drive and Lamar Street, underneath the Dallas Convention Center in the Convention Center District. It opened on June 14, 1996, and is a station on the Red and Blue lines, serving the Dallas Convention Center, the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, Dallas City Hall and Pioneer Park.

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center (KBHCCD) (formerly Dallas Convention Center) is a convention center in the Convention Center District of downtown Dallas, Texas. The "Dallas Memorial Auditorium" was a standalone multipurpose arena, designed by George Dahl in 1957. Dahl was responsible for the renowned Art Deco buildings at the Dallas Fair Park, as well as many other Texas landmarks. The Convention Center additions were designed by Larry Oltmanns, who was a Design Partner with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill at the time. On February 9, 2022, the Dallas City Council voted to take steps toward demolishing the convention center and replacing it with a new one.

Bowler Hat (sometimes called the Cedars Bowler Hat) is an outdoor sculpture by artist Keith Turman in the Cedars neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, United States. The oversized hat was commissioned for a Timothy Oulton furniture store but, following permission issues, was instead installed in 2013 as a freestanding roadside landmark along the 1500 block of Griffin Street.

The Confederate War Memorial was a 65 foot (20 m)-high monument that pays tribute to soldiers and sailors from Texas who served with the Confederate States of America (CSA) during the American Civil War. The monument was dedicated in 1897, following the laying of its cornerstone the previous year. Originally located in Sullivan Park (later renamed Old City Park) near downtown Dallas, Texas, United States, the monument was relocated in 1961 to the nearby Pioneer Park Cemetery in the Convention Center District, next to the Dallas Convention Center and Pioneer Plaza. After the wave of removal of Confederate monuments in 2017, the City of Dallas convened a task force to decide what to do with the memorial and the statue of Robert E. Lee in Lee Park. In February 2019, the Dallas City Council approved removal of the Confederate War Memorial, but the planned removal was later blocked by the Fifth Court of Appeals of Texas. In June 2020, amid widespread George Floyd protests and destruction and removal of other Confederate monuments, the court granted an order allowing the city to remove the monument and place it in storage. The monument was removed later the same month.

The Convention Center District is an area in southern downtown Dallas, Texas (USA). It lies south of the Government District, north of the Cedars, west of the Farmers Market District, and east of the Reunion District. Visitdallas is contracted by the City to attract conventions, although an audit released in January 2019 cast doubts on its effectiveness.

Dallas City Hall is the seat of municipal government of the city of Dallas, Texas, United States. It is located at 1500 Marilla in the Government District of downtown Dallas. The current building, the city's fifth city hall, was completed in 1978 and replaced the Dallas Municipal Building.
