St Michael's Church, Hudswell

Hudswell is a village and civil parish on the border of the Yorkshire Dales, in North Yorkshire, England. The population at the ONS Census 2011 was 353.It lies approximately 2 miles west of Richmond, its nearest town, 3 miles north-west of Catterick Garrison and 12+1⁄2 miles south-west of Darlington. The village public house, George & Dragon, closed in 2008 and re-opened in 2010 as a "community-owned" public house. The premises now also house a small shop and a library. Hudswell lies just south of the River Swale and the A6108, which runs through nearby Richmond. It takes the form of a 'Roadside Village', described as "...merely a string of buildings – houses, shops, inns and others – standing more or less indiscriminately." in The Anatomy of the village by Thomas Wilfred Sharp.According to the 2011 census, Hudswell has a population of 353 and 152 households. The civil parish of Hudswell contains the hamlet of Brokes, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the south.

Applegarth is a historic settlement located north of the River Swale in Yorkshire, England. It lies about three-quarters of a mile north-east of the village of Marske.

The Scott Trial is a British motorcycle trials competition dating from 1914 run over an off-road course of approximately 70 miles. One of the most challenging trials events in the UK, its appeal is to clubman riders as well as international professional riders. The Scott raises money for the "Scott charities", a range of local non-profit making organisations.

Hipswell Moor is an area used for military training, near Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, England. It includes parts of the civil parishes of Barden and Hipswell as well as Barden Fell hill (315 metres (1,033 ft) a.s.l.).

Richmond Racecourse was a British horse racing track situated at Richmond, North Yorkshire at first High Moor, then Low Moor, from 1765 to 1776. It was last used for horse racing in 1891. The grandstand, believed to have been designed by John Carr, is now the oldest surviving stone-built public grandstand in the world.

St Joseph and St Francis Xavier Church is a Roman Catholic Parish church in Richmond, North Yorkshire. It is situated between Newbiggin and Victoria Road to the south of Richmondshire Cricket Club. The church was built in 1868 and was designed by George Goldie. It was founded by the Society of Jesus and it is a Grade II listed building.

Green Bridge (also known as Richmond Bridge) is a road bridge crossing the River Swale in Richmond, North Yorkshire, England. Until the building of Mercury Bridge adjacent to the railway station in 1846, it was the only crossing over the River Swale from Richmond. Historically, the bridge carried the Richmond to Lancaster Turnpike, and is now a grade II* listed structure.

The Friary Community Hospital is a health facility in Queen's Road, Richmond, North Yorkshire, England. It is managed by South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The main frontage, facing east, is 19th century, while the adjacent block, facing south, is 18th century and is a Grade II listed building.

The Georgian Theatre Royal is a theatre and historic Georgian playhouse in the market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire, England. It is among the oldest of Britain's extant theatres.It was built in 1788 by the actor-manager Samuel Butler (1750–1812), and his first wife Tryphosa Butler (nee Brockhill) and was one of his circuit of theatres, the others being located in Beverley, Harrogate, Kendal, Northallerton, Ripon, Ulverston and Whitby, though none of these are now open. After Tryphosa's death in 1797 he married Francis Maria Jefferson. After Samuel's death the theatre was run by his widow and later their son, Samuel William Butler. Regular performances at the theatre continued until 1830, when performances became less frequent and in 1848 it was let as an auction house. The Georgian Theatre Royal was reopened by a non-profit trust in 1963, it was expanded in 1996 and had major restoration works, including the addition of a museum, costing £1.6 million in 2002, reopening once again in 2003. August 2016 saw the opening of The Georgian Theatre Royal Experience, a museum detailing the history of the theatre and displaying artefacts from the theatre's collection, as well as The Woodland Scene, reported to be the oldest surviving stage scenery in the world. In addition, the Paul Iles Learning Centre was reopened following extensive renovation, and now houses The Georgian Theatre Royal Youth Theatre as well as many events including volunteer open days, book groups and costume making sessions.

Greyfriars, Richmond was a friary in North Yorkshire, England. Its bell tower still survives and dates from the 15th century. Its establishment as a friary is attributed to Ralph Fitz Randall in 1258. His heart was buried there in 1270. During the Crusades, Archbishop Romanus requested that two priests be sent from the friary, one there and one to Copeland (Cumberland). In 1304, an "apostate friar", Arthur of Hartlepool, upon being arrested, was sent to the friary for punishment. It was surrendered 19 January 1538, after it had accumulated five and a half acres of land from William de Huddeswell (in 1364) and John de Nevill (in 1383).

Richmond Castle in Richmond, North Yorkshire, England, stands in a commanding position above the River Swale, close to the centre of the town of Richmond. It was originally called Riche Mount, 'the strong hill'. The castle was constructed by Alan Rufus from 1071 onwards following the Norman Conquest of England, and the Domesday Book of 1086 refers to 'a castlery' at Richmond. In the 12th century, his great-nephew Conan expanded the castle and built the keep. Although it was derelict by 1540, it was restored centuries later. The property is the best-preserved early Norman castle in England and an important tourist attraction.
