Dow's Lake

Commissioners Park is a park in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It lies within the westernmost section of The Glebe, bounded by Dow's Lake, Preston Street, Carling Avenue and Dow's Lake Road. Throughout the warmer months it is a popular place for family walks. The National Capital Commission maintains the park and manages to keep flowers blooming there throughout the growing season. During the annual Canadian Tulip Festival, it is a major tulip viewing area with the highest concentration of tulips in the region numbering as many as 300,000.

The Dominion Arboretum (French: Arboretum du Dominion) is an arboretum part of the Central Experimental Farm of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Originally begun in 1889, the Arboretum covers about 26 hectares (64 acres) of rolling land between Prince of Wales Drive, Dow's Lake and the Rideau Canal. Carleton University is located at the opposite side of the Canal. At a latitude of 45°, it can experience extremely hot and humid summers and extremely cold winters. It displays a wide range of well-established trees and shrubs with the intention of evaluating their hardiness, including 1,700 different species and varieties. The arboretum is open from dawn to dusk and the admission is free. Although the climate of the Ottawa area is Zone 5a, the topography of the Arboretum produces a microclimate and is warmer by one zone. This has allowed for a collection of magnolias, azaleas, and several other fringe trees including Metasequoia and Liriodendron. One of the favourite attractions for tourists is the Ornamental Gardens. In this area are located the annual plant display, perennial borders, lilac walks, roses and hedges. The hedge collection was planted between 1966 and 1968 and contains a variety of species suitable for use as a hedge.

The Man with Two Hats is a 4.7 m (15 ft) statue in Commissioners Park in Ottawa, Canada. The statue was created by Henk Visch and was unveiled by Princess Margriet of the Netherlands on May 11, 2002. It honours the liberation of the Netherlands. There is an identical statue in the National Canadian Liberation Monument in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands.

The Claridge Icon is a 45-storey condominium tower under construction in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located at the intersection of Carling Avenue and Preston Street in Little Italy. When the structure topped out in 2019, it became the tallest building in Ottawa since 1971 and the tallest in Ottawa-Gatineau since 1978. The building was designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects and built by Claridge Homes. It has suffered lengthy delays. When first announced in 2012, Claridge aimed for opening in late 2016. Once construction had begun in 2015, it was planned to be ready for occupancy in 2018.Early during construction in March 2016, a worker was struck and killed by a 12-metre (39 ft) chunk of ice that fell from the side of the construction pit. This resulted in a year-long delay and charges against the developer and main contractor (which were fined $325,000 each in May 2019). Construction work was halted again in March 2018 when a worker fell 3 metres (10 ft) from a platform and suffered a head injury.

The Ornamental Gardens are located at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Once used as a test facility for the development of winter hardy roses, weigela and peonies, it now acts as the steward to several large collections of ornamentals. Several notable collections include the Explorer rose collection, the Arthur Percy Saunders peonies and the Isabella Preston lilac series. To provide a proper environment for the many plant collections the Ornamental Gardens has been subdivided into several features. These include the Macoun Memorial Garden, the Lilac Walk, the Rock Garden, the Perennial Border and the Explorer Rose Garden. As a display garden for the AAS (All American Selection) the Ornamental Gardens also presents a yearly, dynamic display of the choicest annuals and perennials.

Dow's Lake (formerly known as Carling) is an O-Train station on the Trillium Line, one block west of the intersection of Carling Avenue and Preston Street in Ottawa, Ontario. It is near Dow's Lake the western terminal of the Rideau Canal skating rink (in winters only) and a key site during the Canadian Tulip Festival in May. The station is also near government offices at the area of Carling Avenue and Booth Street. South of Carling, the train enters a tunnel to pass under the Rideau Canal. The station was originally named for nearby Carling Avenue and Sir John Carling.

Glebe Collegiate Institute (GCI) is a high school in the Glebe neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Administered by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), Glebe Collegiate Institute has approximately 1,700 students and is the district's largest school. Students and sports teams are referred to as "Gryphons." Glebe was selected as one of Canada's best schools in the August 23, 2004, edition of Maclean's news magazine.The school offers specialized programs, such as French immersion, English as a second language, bilingual, gifted, and a learning disability and special education learning centre. It has a percussion group called Offbeat, which uses things like trash cans, brooms, chalk dusters, and water barrels as instruments. The Improv Teams, have twice placed within the Canadian Improv Games national finals. Glebe's robotics program participates in US FIRST international robotics competition, and won the SKILLS Canada STEM and Controls competition in 2015. Glebe's Reach for the Top trivia team has won the national championships twice, during the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.In 2008 and 2010, a group of four science teachers (Andrew Cumberland, Dan Lajoie, Colin Harris, and Masato Kachi) from Glebe placed second in Canada in the Discovery Channel's Iron Science Competition.Notable former students include NHL hockey players, including Hall of Famer Syd Howe, singer Alanis Morissette, Royal Canadian Air Farce member Luba Goy, and CBC news icon Peter Mansbridge.

The Sir John Carling Building was located along Carling Avenue at the Central Experimental Farm, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Until 2010, it was the headquarters of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, containing administration facilities and the offices of the Minister and Deputy Minister of Agriculture. Named after John Carling, it was an 11-storey building accommodating some 1,200 employees, with a 3-storey east wing for shipping and receiving and a single-storey cafeteria wing with an arched roof. It was demolished July 13, 2014, but the cafeteria wing is the only part of the building to remain.

TAAG Park is a FieldTurf stadium located at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on the north-eastern edge of the university campus, where Bronson Avenue meets University Road. The stadium was renamed TAAG Park in August 2022.Known as Raven Field until 1998 when it became known as Keith Harris Stadium. Keith Harris served as the Director of Carleton Athletics for over 30 years and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2000. In 2011, the Carleton Board of Governors approved a plan for the expansion and renovation of the stadium.The stadium is home to Carleton University Ravens varsity football team, men's and women's varsity soccer teams and women's rugby team. The stadium, supplied and installed by Sport Systems Canada Inc, has a seating capacity of 3,044, plus room for approximately 500 spectators on the "Perch", a hill on the east side of the stadium often used by students, for a total capacity of 3,500. Also, there are three state of the art press boxes complete with viewing platforms.

Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church is a Catholic church in the Glebe neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The parish was founded on March 25, 1913, with the first building being a simple chapel. The current building at 194 Fourth Avenue, was built in 1931.
