San Luis Rey AVA

Rancho Monserate was a 13,323-acre (53.92 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day San Diego County, California given in 1846 by Governor Pío Pico to Ysidro María Alvarado. The grant extended south and east of the present day Fallbrook down to the San Luis Rey River. The grant was bounded on the west by Pico's Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores.

Fallbrook is a census-designated place in northern San Diego County, California. Fallbrook had a population of 32,267 at the 2020 census.Fallbrook is immediately east of the U.S. Marine Corps' Camp Pendleton. Fallbrook is known for its avocado groves and calls itself the "Avocado Capital of the World".

Pala Mesa is an unincorporated community in San Diego County, California, United States. The community is at the junction of Interstate 15 and California State Route 76, 11.1 miles (17.9 km) south of Temecula. It sits adjacent to the town of Fallbrook.

The Lilac Fire was a fire that burned in northern San Diego County, California, United States, and the second-costliest one of multiple wildfires that erupted in Southern California in December 2017. The fire was first reported on December 7, 2017, burned 4,100 acres (1,659 ha), and destroyed 157 structures, before it was fully contained on December 16. The fire cost at least $8.9 million (2018 USD), including $5 million in firefighting expenses and property damage, and an additional $3.9 million in cleanup and erosion control costs. The fire threatened the communities of Bonsall, Oceanside, Vista, Fallbrook, and Camp Pendleton. During the fire, an estimated 10,000 residents were forced to evacuate, while a total of over 100,000 residents were forced to or advised to evacuate. On December 7, the Lilac Fire also cut the power to 20,000 people.

Bonsall is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Diego County, California. The population was 3,982 at the 2010 census, up from 3,401 at the 2000 census. The Bonsall area was heavily affected by the Lilac Fire in December 2017, which burned 4,100 acres.

The Lilac Road Bridge is a reinforced concrete arch bridge in Bonsall, California, built in 1978 at a cost of $1,500,000. Its main span is 455 feet (139 m), with a total length of 745 feet (227 m). It was designed by Fred G. Michaels and John Suwada, with architecture consulting by William Wells. This bridge is one of the two overcrossings in San Diego County with this unique arch design, the other being the Eastgate Mall Bridge. When traveling northbound on I-15 it is the noticeably high bridge before the SR 76 exit.

Rainbow is a census designated place (CDP) in northern San Diego County in the U.S. state of California. The population was 1,832 at the 2010 census, down from 2,026 at the 2000 census.

The Tomahawk Fire was the second-largest wildfire of the May 2014 San Diego County wildfires, behind the Pulgas Fire. The fire, which started on May 14 around 9:45 AM, on the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach Detachment Fallbrook (also known as Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station), scorched 5,367 acres (21.72 km2). The Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station is on the eastern side of, and provides an entry point to, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and is adjacent to the community of Fallbrook. Evacuation orders were issued for several schools and housing areas, as well as the Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station and the closed San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. By 8 PM PDT on May 14, the Tomahawk Fire had reached a size of 6,000 acres (2,400 ha). On May 16, the fire had burned 6,300 acres (2,500 ha), and it was 23% contained. By May 17, it had burned 6,500 acres (2,600 ha) and was 65% contained. During the evening of May 18, the fire was reported to be 100% contained.

Rainbow Valley is a small valley in Riverside County and San Diego County in the U.S. state of California. It is the site of the settlement named Rainbow. The area was previously known as Vallecitos ("little valley") and was renamed Rainbow Valley in the late 1880s after James Peebles Marshall Rainbow, who bought a homestead there.

Margarita Lookout, also known as Santa Margarita Lookout, is a lookout point in the Santa Margarita Mountains, part of the larger Santa Ana Mountains in San Diego County, California. The original fire lookout tower, built in 1935 by the CCC, was later replaced by a new lookout tower and cabin in 1965. In 1986, the tower and cabin were both burned in a wildfire. In 1988, the burnt tower was destroyed in a collision with a Marine Corps CH-46E helicopter. The lookout tower was badly damaged as a result and was promptly removed. Only a concrete foundation remains today, however the site is still accessible via trail (Margarita Road/Truck Trail). The lookout is approximately one mile north of Margarita Peak, and is located in the Cleveland National Forest.

California's 49th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California. The district is represented by Mike Levin. The district currently covers the northern coastal areas of San Diego County, including Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad, and Encinitas, as well as a portion of southern Orange County, including San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Ladera Ranch, and Coto de Caza. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is in the district. In the 2016 election, Darrell Issa won by a margin of less than 1%. In the 2018 election, this district was considered to be a major battleground. Rep. Issa announced that he would not seek reelection. Following the November 6, 2018 election, Democrat Mike Levin became the district's congressman.

Mission Vista High School is a public, comprehensive, dual-magnet high school that is part of the Vista Unified School District and is located in Oceanside, California; it currently serves 1,725 students and has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) through 2025.. The school was established in 2009 on the former Washington Middle School campus (now Vista Innovation and Design Academy), but was officialized at its new dedicated campus in early 2011.Mission Vista High School operates on a “4x4” block schedule, in which students are enrolled in eight classes per school year. The year is split into two terms (Fall and Spring), and students take four classes per term. By utilizing this schedule, students can quickly take multiple classes per school year without having to take all six to eight classes every day as is the case with other traditional high schools. In 2017, the school received the California Gold Ribbon Schools Award and in 2019, the school received the distinction award from the Magnet Schools of America. The founding principal for this school is Rodney Goldenberg, and its current leadership consists of Jeremy Walden (Interim Principal), Genevieve Clark (Assistant Principal) and Amy Zilk (Assistant Principal).
