WHHS (99.9 FM) is a non-commercial educational FM radio station licensed to the School District of Haverford Township in Havertown, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Philadelphia), and run by the students of Haverford High School. Studios are located within the school, and the transmitter is located on top of the building. Typical show formats include rock, Top 40, classic rock, rap/hip-hop, sports talk, political talk, and sometimes more eclectic genres like classical or jazz. Occasionally, shows feature live performances from local or school-based bands. Students apply for a radio show (usually 90 minutes long), and a typical show has 2-4 hosts. On the basis of interviews and previous experience with the station, students are chosen to fill several positions, including general manager, technical director, programming director, promotions director, music director, and sports director. The radio station provides an introduction into the radio or communications industries for students interested in careers in these fields.

The school serves the entirety of Haverford Township, including all of the unincorporated community of "Havertown" (a place name created by the US Postal Service to designate ZIP Code 19083, which is wholly within Haverford Township), and the Haverford Township portions of the unincorporated communities of Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, Drexel Hill, and Wynnewood. Approximately 90% of Haverford's graduates continue their formal education at colleges, universities and technical schools. Haverford students traditionally are well-placed in the National Merit Scholar Program and other academic award competitions in mathematics, science, foreign languages, writing, art and music. All five elementary schools in the School District of Haverford Township feed into the middle school, which then feeds into Haverford High School. Haverford High operates WHHS, the first FM broadcast high school radio station in the United States. The High School also has an award-winning newspaper that is almost over 80 years old The Fordian.

Havertown Superfund is a 13-acre polluted groundwater site in Havertown, Pennsylvania contaminated by the dumping of industrial waste by National Wood Preservers from 1947 to 1991. The state first became aware of the pollution in 1962 and initiated legal action against the owners in 1973 to force them to cleanup the site. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ranked the site the eighth worst cleanup project in the United States. The site was added to the National Priorities List in 1983 and designated as a Superfund cleanup site in the early 1990s. Remediation and monitoring efforts are ongoing and the EPA transferred control of the site to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection in 2013. The site was deemed to be "short-term protective of human health and the environment" in the sixth five-year report conducted by the EPA in 2020.

Oakmont is an unincorporated community in Haverford Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. The Oakmont neighborhood is generally bounded by Campbell Avenue, Winton Avenue, East Marthart Avenue and Darby Road. It borders the unincorporated communities of Merion Golf Manor, Merwood, Paddock Farms, Woodmere Park, Brookline, Lynnewood, and Manoa.

Old Haverford Friends Meetinghouse is a historic Quaker meeting house at 235 East Eagle Road in Havertown, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. The burial ground attached to Old Haverford Friends Meetinghouse was laid out in 1684. In 1688, the log meetinghouse was built. Later, a stone meetinghouse was subsequently completed in 1700. It is believed that the southern portion of the meetinghouse, with its rougher masonry, is the original stone building. William Penn preached here soon after construction was complete and often attended worship. The northern portion of the building was expanded in 1800. Old Haverford Friends Meeting is an active faith community and center for worship.

The Llanerch Country Club is a private club in Haverford Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USA (postal address Havertown, Pennsylvania). The Llanerch Country Club has been operating under its present name since 1919 and under other names since 1901. It has hosted numerous championships, including the first PGA Championship to be conducted in its modern stroke play format, won by Dow Finsterwald in 1958. World Golf Hall of Fame member Denny Shute was the head pro there from 1933 until 1936 when he resigned to become a full-time touring pro.

The 1958 PGA Championship was the 40th PGA Championship, played July 17–20 at Llanerch Country Club in Havertown, Pennsylvania, a suburb west of Philadelphia. It was the first PGA Championship held in its current stroke play format, 72 holes over four days, ending on Sunday. The previous editions were at match play, with the two most recent ones at seven rounds over five days, the final two rounds at 36 holes per match. The announcement of the change was made eight months earlier in November.Dow Finsterwald, the runner-up in 1957, shot a final round 67 to win his only major title, two shots ahead of runner-up Billy Casper. Finsterwald's round-by-round scores were 67-72-70-67=276, 4-under-par on the par-70 course. Sam Snead led after 54 holes in pursuit of a fourth title, but faded to third with a final round 73 (+3). The winner's share was $5,500, down from the previous year's $8,000. The Open Championship was held two weeks earlier in England at Royal Lytham & St Annes, with only two Americans in the field; Gene Sarazen finished 16th, but missed the first cut at the PGA Championship.
