Alvin High School

Alvin Community College (ACC) is a public community college in Alvin, Texas. Alvin Community College provides educational opportunities in workforce training, academics, technical fields, adult basic education, and personal development.As defined by the Texas Legislature, the official service area of ACC is the following: all territory within the Alvin, Danbury, and Pearland school districts, and that portion of the Angleton Independent School District annexed by ACC prior to September 1, 1995.Areas within the ACC taxation zone include: Alvin, Hillcrest, Iowa Colony, Manvel, and portions of Pearland.

Alvin's claim to fame is Baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, who moved with his family to the city in 1947 as an infant and lived there until he moved to Round Rock in 2003. The Nolan Ryan Museum is in the Nolan Ryan Foundation and Exhibit Center on the campus of Alvin Community College. Alvin is also the home town of professional pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and professional football quarterback Joe Ferguson.

Friendswood High School is a public secondary school located in Friendswood, Texas, United States. The school serves grades 9 through 12, and is a part of the Friendswood Independent School District (ISD). The school district was established on December 21, 1948, and covers 15 square miles (39 km2). It borders the Alvin, Pearland and Clear Creek school districts. Most of the city of Friendswood is within Friendswood ISD and is zoned to Friendswood High School. All students in Friendswood ISD public schools attend Friendswood High School.

On May 18, 2018, a school shooting occurred at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas, United States, in the Houston metropolitan area. Ten people – eight students and two teachers – were fatally shot, and thirteen others were wounded. Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old student at the school, was taken into custody. The shooting is the eighth-deadliest high school shooting in the United States.

Santa Fe High School is a high school in Santa Fe, Texas in the Houston metropolitan area. It is part of the Santa Fe Independent School District. In addition to Santa Fe, its district serves parts of League City, La Marque, Hitchcock, and Dickinson.In 2018, the school became the scene of the third deadliest high school shooting in United States history when a 17 year old junior of the school killed 10 people - 8 students and 2 teachers- before being taken into custody.

The Sri Meenakshi Temple (also called the Sri Meenakshi Devasthanam) is a Hindu temple located in Pearland, Brazoria County, Texas, in the Houston metropolitan area. The temple's presiding deity is Meenakshi Devi, an aspect of Parvati whose consort is Sundareswarar, an aspect of Shiva. Meenakshi Devi is also the presiding deity of the famous Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. The Sri Meenakshi Temple in Pearland is the only temple outside India dedicated to Meenakshi Devi. Built in 1982 and designed by Indian architect S. M. Ganapathy Sthapathi in the South Indian Dravidian style of Hindu temple architecture, it is the third-oldest Hindu temple in the United States.The temple's main shrine is dedicated to Meenakshi Devi, Sundareswarar, Venkateshwara (a form of Vishnu), and Lakshmi. Other shrines within the temple complex are dedicated to Ganesha, Rama, Ayappa, Durga, Nandi, and Garuda. In addition to the main shrine, the temple has four additional corner shrines – one at each corner. The temple also has sculptures of the Tamil Alwar and Nayanar poet-saints and gurus of Vedanta philosophy (Adi Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya, and Madhvacharya).The Sri Meenakshi Temple attracts Hindu devotees and visitors from across the Houston metropolitan area. It is considered one of Greater Houston's most prominent religious landmarks as well as a major visitor attraction in Pearland.

Manvel is a city in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. As of the July 2022 census estimates the population was 14,803, up from 9,908 at the 2020 census.
