Fultondale High School

Fultondale High School is a combined middle school and high school in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Fultondale. It is one of fourteen high schools in the Jefferson County School System. School colors are navy blue and Burnt orange, and the athletic teams are called the Wildcats. Fultondale competes in AHSAA Class 4A athletics.

THS competes in AHSAA Class 3A athletics.THS was established in 1917 as Jefferson County High School and was administered by the Jefferson County School System. It became part of the Tarrant City School System in 1948, at which point its name was changed to Tarrant High School.

Gardendale High School (GHS) is a public high school located in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Gardendale. It is currently operated by the Jefferson County Board of Education. GHS was established in 1956 as a result of population growth in the area. Until this time, local students mostly attended Mortimer Jordan High School in nearby Morris. The school mascot/nickname is "Rockets." The name was chosen by vote of the first student body in school history and was chosen to honor the U.S. Space and Rocket program, which at the time was actively pursuing the goal of placing a man on the moon. The school colors are maroon and gray.

UPS Airlines Flight 1354 (5X1354/UPS1354) was a scheduled cargo flight from Louisville, Kentucky, to Birmingham, Alabama. On August 14, 2013, the Airbus A300 flying the route crashed and burst into flames short of the runway on approach to Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport. Both pilots were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. They were the only people aboard the aircraft. It was the second fatal air crash for UPS Airlines.
