Commonweal Lodge was an independent school for girls aged between eleven and nineteen, located on the Webb Estate in Purley operating between 1916 and 2010.

The John Fisher School is a Roman Catholic voluntary-aided boys' faith school based at Peaks Hill, Purley, Croydon, Surrey, England. The school is located in and funded by the London Borough of Sutton. It occupies the former site of the 19th-century prep school Falconbury School. The school operates as a faith (Roman Catholic) comprehensive School, educating boys mainly from south and central Croydon. It has a history of selection, and (as a selective entry grant-maintained school, and before that as a fee-paying boys’ grammar school) has drawn pupils from across London and South East England. The school has operated selective admissions policies twice in its history, from when it was founded in 1929 until 1977, and more recently from 1991 to 2008. It was, alongside the London Oratory School, one of the last selective entry Catholic comprehensive schools to defy the Schools' Admissions Code by continuing to interview prospective pupils and their parents. There have been no parental interviews since 2008, with the final cohort of boys selected by interview leaving the school in the Summer of 2014. The school has grown since the end of its selection policy from 700 pupils to over 1000, and was set to grow even more beginning in 2016 (30 additional places).

Laleham Lea is a co-educational private primary school in located Peaks Hill, Purley, Greater London. The school prepares pupils for entrance to selective and independent schools. In the past, many of the school's male cohort would be prepared for the entrance tests and interviews for The John Fisher School (across the road) and The London Oratory School which were selective Catholic schools for much of the 1990s and mid-late 2000s. Today some pupils still transfer to London and Surrey faith schools but a considerable number now go onto local independent schools, and grammar schools in neighbouring Sutton.

Falconbury School was a prep-school based in Peaks Hill, now in the London Borough of Croydon. Falconbury's buildings became home to The John Fisher School in 1931; a former Catholic Public and Boarding School, latterly (in the 1990s) a highly selective Catholic day school and now a non-selective Catholic comprehensive school for boys.

Purley Council Offices, also known as Purley Town Hall, is a former municipal building in Brighton Road, Purley, London. The structure, which was the headquarters of Coulsdon and Purley Urban District Council, is a Grade II listed building.

Coulsdon West was a ward in the London Borough of Croydon, covering part of the Coulsdon area of London in the United Kingdom. The ward formed part of Chris Philp MP's Croydon South constituency, which has one of the highest majority's for the Conservative Party in London. At the 2011 Census the population of the ward was 13,449.The ward returned three councillors every four years to Croydon Council. At the 2006 Croydon Council election, Gavin Barwell, Brian Cakebread and David Osland were elected to the council. All of them were running as Conservative Party candidates. In the ward the Labour Party's highest ranking candidate got only 481 votes, one of the lowest for them in London.

Coulsdon Town is a ward in the London Borough of Croydon, covering part of the Coulsdon area of London in the United Kingdom. The ward currently forms part of Chris Philp MP's Croydon South constituency, which has one of the highest majority's for the Conservative Party in London. The ward largely replaced the Coulsdon West ward following boundary changes for the 2018 election.

Reedham railway station is in the south of Purley in the London Borough of Croydon on the Tattenham Corner line. The local area is residential and the station is near the A23 Brighton Road. It is 15 miles 65 chains (25.4 km) measured from London Charing Cross. The Brighton Main Line is adjacent, but is not served by this station. Although occasionally referred to as Reedham (London), it is most commonly suffixed as Reedham (Surrey) (despite not officially being part of Surrey county since the creation of the London borough of Croydon in 1965) in order to distinguish it from the station of the same name in Norfolk. Its three-letter station code is RHM.

Coulsdon Town railway station serves the northern part of Coulsdon, in the London Borough of Croydon. It is on the Tattenham Corner line 16 miles 46 chains (26.7 km) from Charing Cross and opened on 1 January 1904. Until 22 May 2011 it was called Smitham.
