Nemours Estate

Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware is a pediatric hospital located in Wilmington, Delaware. It is controlled by the Nemours Foundation, a non-profit organization created by philanthropist Alfred I. du Pont in 1936 and dedicated to improving the health of children. Historically, it was referred to as the A. I. duPont Institute for Crippled Children or more simply, the DuPont Institute and provides pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, teens, and young adults up to age 21.

Alapocas Run State Park is a state park, located in Wilmington, Delaware, United States, along the Brandywine Creek and its Alapocas Run tributary. Open year-round, it is 415 acres (168 ha) in area. Much of the state park was created from land originally preserved by William Poole Bancroft in the early 1900s to be used as open space parkland by the city of Wilmington as it expanded. The park also includes the Blue Ball Barn, a dairy barn built by Alfred I. du Pont as part of his Nemours estate in 1914. In addition to walking trails, athletic fields, and playgrounds for children, one of the park's primary features is a rock climbing wall. The rock climbing wall is part of an old quarry across from historic Bancroft Mills on the Brandywine, and the quarry is also used for school educational programs centered on earth sciences.

Husbands Run is a 1.71 mi (2.75 km) long tributary to Brandywine Creek in New Castle County, Delaware north of Wilmington, Delaware. It rises in Woodley Park between the Tavistock Woodbrook, Sharpley and Edenridge neighborhoods. It flows through DuPont Country Club, where it is joined by the Willow Run and mouths north of Delaware Route 141. The Husbands were early settlers to the region.

Blue Ball is an unincorporated community in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. Blue Ball is located at the junction of U.S. Route 202, Delaware Route 141, and Delaware Route 261, north of Wilmington. It takes it name from eponymous tavern. The area was originally developed by the Weldin family. Many of the structures in the area has since been demolished.

The Delaware Art Museum is an art museum located on the Kentmere Parkway in Wilmington, Delaware, which holds a collection of more than 12,000 objects. The museum was founded in 1912 as the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts in honor of the artist Howard Pyle. The collection focuses on American art and illustration from the 19th to the 21st century, and on the English Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood movement of the mid-19th century. The museum building was expanded and renovated in 2005 and includes a 9-acre (36,000 m2) Sculpture Park, the Helen Farr Sloan Library and Archives, studio art classes, a children's learning area, as well as a cafe and museum store.

Lombardy Hall is a historic house at 1611 Concord Pike in Fairfax, Delaware. Probably built about 1750, this stone house is notable as the home of Gunning Bedford Jr. (1747-1812), a delegate to the Constitutional Convention and a signer of the U. S. Constitution. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974.

The 1995 LPGA Championship was the 41st LPGA Championship, played May 11–14 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. Kelly Robbins won her only major title, one stroke ahead of defending champion Laura Davies. Robbins had led after each of the first two rounds, but fell a stroke behind leader Davies after 54 holes. In a cool rain on Sunday, Robbins birdied three of the final seven holes to pass Davies for the win.This was the second of eleven consecutive LPGA Championships at DuPont Country Club. It was the richest major on tour from 1990 through this year, passed by the U.S. Women's Open in 1996.

The 1998 LPGA Championship was the 44th LPGA Championship, played May 14–17 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. This was the second of four major championships on the LPGA Tour in 1998. Twenty-year-old rookie Se Ri Pak led wire-to-wire to win the first of her five majors, three strokes ahead of runners-up Donna Andrews and Lisa Hackney. Less than two months later, Pak won the next major, the U.S. Women's Open. The DuPont Country Club hosted this championship for eleven consecutive seasons, from 1994 through 2004.
