Gotna Vas (pronounced [ˈɡoːtna ˈʋaːs], Slovene: Gotna vas, German: Gothendorf) is a former village in southeastern Slovenia in the Municipality of Novo Mesto. It is now part of the city of Novo Mesto. It is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.

Kandija (pronounced [ˈkaːndija], German: Kandia) is a former village in southeastern Slovenia in the Municipality of Novo Mesto, now part of the city of Novo Mesto. It is also part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.

The Kandija Bridge (Slovene: Kandijski most) or the Old Bridge (Stari most) is an iron bridge in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. It connects the old city core on the left side of the Krka River with Kandija, a historical suburb of Novo Mesto, on its right side. The bridge stands at the lower part of Main Square. It was built in 1898 to replace the old wooden bridge from 1600, located a few dozen metres upstream. The opening took place on 23 November 1898. The riveted structure bridging the Krka with a single 75-metre (246 ft) arch is a unique structure in Slovenia. Since 1992, it has been protected as a cultural monument. It was renovated in 1977, 1996, and 2009.

Novo Mesto Cathedral (Slovene: novomeška stolnica, novomeška stolna cerkev) or St Nicholas's Cathedral (stolnica sv. Nikolaja) in Novo Mesto is the seat of the Diocese of Novo Mesto and a landmark of the town. The stone church is located on a hill above the Krka River. Until 7 April 2006, when the Diocese of Novo Mesto was established, it was a capitular church. It is therefore sometimes referred to as the Capitular Church of St Nicholas (kapiteljska cerkev or simply Kapitelj). It is distinguished by a combination of Gothic and Baroque architecture and a broken longitudinal axis because the chancel is higher than the nave.

Smolenja Vas (pronounced [smɔˈleːnja ˈʋaːs]; Slovene: Smolenja vas) is a village in the hills northeast of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.The local church, built on the northern outskirts of the village, is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and belongs to the Parish of Novo Mesto–Sveti Lenart. It was a medieval building that was extensively restyled in the Baroque style in 1644.

The Faculty of Organisation Studies in Novo Mesto (FOS; Slovene: Fakulteta za organizacijske študije v Novem mestu) is an independent (private) faculty, in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. The Faculty of Organisation Studies in Novo Mesto holds ISO standards ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001. In 2015, the Faculty was recognised by the Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia for its efforts in the field of personal data protection. The current dean is Boris Bukovec.

The Novo Mesto Grammar School (Slovene: Gimnazija Novo mesto) is a public secondary school for both, boys and girls, located in Novo Mesto in the region of Lower Carniola, Slovenia. It was founded in 1746 by the Habsburg ruler Maria Theresa of Austria and initially run by Franciscan friars. In 1870, the school became a state school and the current school building was built in 1912. The school, the oldest in Slovenia, is the largest of the four grammar schools in Novo Mesto. It has a long list of distinguished alumni, among them many scientists and artists. The school charges no tuition.
