First United Methodist Church is a historic church at 701 E Goliad Ave in Crockett, Texas. First United Methodist Church in Crockett, Texas was organized on December 23, 1839, by the Texas Mission of the Mississippi Methodist Conference by Littleton Fowler. It is one of the oldest continuously operating Methodist congregation in Texas. The land where the church is located was purchased by the Methodist congregation in 1858. The church building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 21, 2011. The cornerstone of the current church building was laid in 1901. Several families in the church gave memorial gifts of stained-glass windows. The windows were most likely crafted in Bavaria, shipped to Galveston and then transported to Crockett via rail. They were then installed by artisans who were likely experienced in the technique of installing stained glass in 1902.There are a total of nineteen stained-glass windows in the church, with one of the most notable being a gift from two brothers who had lost their mother, wives, and children in the Galveston hurricane of 1900. The interior of the church sanctuary is in the Akron style, meaning it has curved rows and no center aisle. The bell in the church tower was salvaged from the wooden church building which burned in 1870. The bell, a 22-inch Meneely cast bronze, came from Troy, New York in 1859 and is still rung each Sunday. In 1915, a pipe organ was specifically built for the church by Estey Organ Company in Brattleboro, Vermont. It has undergone several renovations, including the installation of a computer board to open the pipes, and is used in worship services. Additions to the church building were made in 1922 to provide offices and classrooms and in 1953 to add a fellowship hall and additional classrooms. In 1968 additional classrooms were built, and in 1998 a Family Life Center with a gym and meeting rooms was added. Denominations In 1839, this church was part of the Methodist Episcopal Church of America. When the Methodist Episcopal Church South was formed in 1845, the congregation in Crockett joined with it. In 1939, the Methodist church reunited several denominations, and the church in Crockett became a part of The Methodist Church. In 1968, The Methodist Church merged with the Evangelical United Brethren Church to form the United Methodist Church. In 2022, the Crockett congregation voted to remain a part of the United Methodist Church.

Birthright, also known as Lone Star, is an unincorporated community in Hopkins County, Texas, United States. Birthright is located on Farm to Market Road 71, 10 miles (16 km) north of Sulphur Springs.

Jim Chapman Dam (originally Cooper Dam, National ID # TX08012) is a dam in Delta County and Hopkins County, Texas, United States. The earthen dam was constructed in 1991 by the Southwestern Division of the United States Army Corps of Engineers with a height of 95 feet, and a length of 28,072 feet at its crest. It impounds the south fork of the Sulphur River for municipal water supply and recreation. The dam is owned and operated by the Corps of Engineers. The reservoir it creates, Jim Chapman Lake, has a 19,305-acre (7,812 ha) water surface and a maximum capacity of 797,000 acre-feet (983,000,000 m3). The lake is known as a preferred location for fishing in the region. Species likely to be caught are blue and channel catfish, bluegill, Florida largemouth bass, crappie and hybrid striped bass. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's two separate units of Cooper Lake State Park are located on Jim Chapman Lake. The Dam was formerly known as Cooper Dam. Both lake and dam were renamed by an act of Congress in 1998 to honor Jim Chapman, a former congressman from nearby Sulphur Springs.

Jim Chapman Lake (also known as Cooper Lake) is a 19,305-acre (78.12 km2) impoundment operated by the Army Corps of Engineers and is located 75 miles (121 km) east of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in the state of Texas. The reservoir was created by the 1991 Jim Chapman Dam and impounds the South Sulphur River, a fork of the Sulphur River. It provides water supply storage for the North Texas Municipal Water District, the Sulphur River Municipal Water District. The lake is known as a preferred location for fishing in the region. Species likely to be caught are blue and channel catfish, Florida largemouth bass, crappie, and hybrid striped bass. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Cooper Lake State Park is located on Jim Chapman Lake. The lake was formerly known as Cooper Lake, but was renamed by an act of Congress in 1998 to honor Jim Chapman, a former congressman from nearby Sulphur Springs. Cooper Lake State Park retains the earlier name.

Delta County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 5,230. Its county seat and largest city is Cooper. The county was founded in 1870 and is named for its triangular shape, which resembles the Greek letter delta. Meanders of two forks of the Sulphur River formed its northern and southern boundaries and meet at its easternmost point. Delta County was one of 19 prohibition, or entirely dry, counties in the state of Texas. As of 2015, Delta County is no longer a dry county.

Cooper Lake State Park is a Texas State Park in Delta and Hopkins counties, about three miles (5 km) south of Cooper, Texas. The park is situated on Jim Chapman Lake, formerly known as Cooper Lake. There are actually two geographically separate units; the Doctors Creek unit 33°20′54″N 95°40′08″W is located on the north side of the lake, in Delta County, while the South Sulphur unit 33°17′49″N 95°39′35″W is located on the south side of the lake, in Hopkins County.

North Hopkins High School is a public high school located outside unincorporated Birthright, Texas (USA) and classified as a 2A school by the UIL. It is part of the North Hopkins Independent School District located in north central Hopkins County. The school has a Sulphur Springs, Texas address and is known in the area as Sulphur Springs North Hopkins. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

KPCO-FM (89.9 FM) is a radio station licensed to serve the community of Cooper, Texas. The station is owned by Iglesia Cristiana Ebenezer, and airs a Spanish religious format. The station was assigned the KPCO-FM call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on May 11, 2011.
