St Mary's Church is the parish church of Cloughton, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. There was a Mediaeval church in Cloughton, which consisted of a nave, chancel, north aisle, south porch, and bellcote at the west end. It was demolished in 1831, and a replacement was built, to a design by J. Thompson and G. Taylor. It was restored and extended from 1889 to 1890, by Smith, Brodrick and Lowther. The building was Grade II listed in 1951. The church is built of sandstone on a chamfered plinth, and has a slate roof. It consists of a nave and a chancel under a continuous roof, a north chapel and organ chamber, and a south vestry. On the west gable is a three-light bellcote with Tudor arched corbelled hood moulds. There are Tudor arched doorways in the north and west walls, and the east window has five lights with Perpendicular tracery. A window in the south aisle commemorates Frank Lockwood. On the south wall of the chancel is a marble monument to William and Priscilla Bower, dates 1704, and there is a war memorial tablet designed by Eric Gill.

Cloughton railway station was a railway station on the Scarborough & Whitby Railway. It opened on 16 July 1885, and served the North Yorkshire village of Cloughton, and to a lesser extent the village of Burniston.The station had a canopied goods shed, and the '1904 Handbook of Stations', listed it as being able to handle general goods, livestock, horse boxes and prize cattle vans. it also had a 1-ton 10 cwt permanent crane.The station was host to a LNER camping coach in 1935, possibly one for some of 1934 and three coaches from 1936 to 1939. Two coaches were positioned here by North Eastern Region of British Railways from 1954 and three from 1959 to 1964.The station closed on 8 March 1965.The station has been restored and is currently used as a private house, with guest accommodation provided in a converted railway carriage, a converted goods shed, and two B&B suites. A tea room formerly operated in the station building, but that closed in September 2019.

Burniston is a village and civil parish in the Scarborough borough of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated about four miles north of Scarborough itself, on the A171 road. According to the 2011 UK census Burniston parish had a population of 1,523, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 1,389. With all the new houses at River Meadows, the population is now roughly 1,500. The parish council is Burniston Parish Council.

Hayburn Wyke railway station was a railway station on the Scarborough & Whitby Railway, 7 miles from Scarborough. It opened on 16 July 1885, and served the popular local beauty spot of Hayburn Wyke, and the Hayburn Wyke Hotel. The platform was originally on the up side of the line, but was moved to the down side on request of the NER.The station was rebuilt in 1893, and closed temporarily on 1 March 1917. Reopening took place on 2 May 1921 before final, permanent closure on 8 March 1965. From 1955 the station was reduced to an unstaffed halt. The former stationmaster's house dating back to 1892, which stands parallel to the former line, survives as a private residence.

Newby and Scalby is a civil parish in the Scarborough district of North Yorkshire, England, formed by the smaller southern area of Newby and the larger, northern, area of Scalby.

Scalby, a village on the north edge of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England, is part of the civil parish of Newby and Scalby. From 1902 to 1974, Scalby was an urban district in the North Riding of Yorkshire. Scalby is 2.5 miles (4 km) north of Scarborough, and is separated from the town's suburbs by the Scalby Beck, which flows to the North Sea at Scalby Mills. Scalby is a village which is bisected by the A171 Scarborough to Whitby road. The older part of the village is west of the main crossroads and is focused around a small but busy High Street.

Staintondale railway station, also known as Stainton Dale railway station, was 8 miles (13 km) north of Scarborough and served the hamlet of Staintondale in North Yorkshire, England. Staintondale railway station opened on 16 July 1885 when the Scarborough & Whitby Railway opened the full line.It had two platforms either side of a passing loop and a small goods yard to the west. It was listed in 1904 as being able to handle general goods, livestock, horse boxes and prize cattle vans. There was no permanent crane, although one is shown on the 1893 Ordnance survey map.In 1937 the station was renamed as Stainton Dale (written as two separate words).A camping coach was positioned here by the North Eastern Region from 1954 to 1958 and two coaches were here from 1959 to 1964.On 4 May 1964 the goods service was withdrawn from the station, which closed completely on 8 March 1965. During the station's final year of operation its average weekly taking was £15 but the wages bill for the station came to £180.The platforms and the main station buildings (used for residential purposes) are still in place.

Crowdon is a village in the Scarborough district of North Yorkshire, England.

The Sea Cut (Scalby Beck) is a small river that enters the North Sea at Scalby Mills, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. The beck is fed from local streams in Scalby, Newby and Burniston and other watercourses draining off the nearby hills. It is also a bypass channel for the upper reaches of the River Derwent when it is under flood conditions.

Scalby Manor near Scarborough, North Yorkshire was built in 1885 by Edwin Brough. He was the leading breeder and trainer in England of bloodhounds at his time and when the Whitechapel murders occurred several years later he was invited by the Commissioner of Police to help track the killer. The house which was then called Wyndyate remained a private residence until the late 1930s when it was used as a guest house and then became a hotel. Today it is a restaurant and a pub.
