Norfolk International Airport (IATA: ORF, ICAO: KORF, FAA LID: ORF) is seven miles (11 km) northeast of downtown Norfolk, an independent city in Virginia, United States. It is owned and operated by the Norfolk Airport Authority: a bureau under the municipal government. The airport serves the Hampton Roads metropolitan area of southeast Virginia (along with Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport in Newport News) as well as northeast North Carolina. Despite its name, the airport does not have any international destinations nonstop.The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 2021 categorized it as a medium hub airport.As of 2021, with a passenger count of 1,658,000 people, Norfolk International was ranked as the 65th-busiest airport in the United States and the third-busiest in Virginia in terms of passengers served annually, behind Dulles International Airport and Reagan National Airport, but just ahead of Richmond International. Delta Air Lines has the largest share of passenger traffic, followed by Southwest Airlines and American Airlines.

Tidewater Arboretum (5 acres), sometimes also called Hampton Roads Arboretum, is an arboretum maintained by Virginia Tech's Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center. It is located at 1444 Diamond Springs Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia, and open daily without charge. The arboretum was established in 1975, and features small, woody plants suitable for urban gardens in the Southeastern Virginia climate. Each plant is identified by family, scientific name, and common name. The site also contains 12 theme gardens.

Norfolk Premium Outlets is an American outlet shopping complex located in Norfolk, Virginia on U.S. Route 13 near the interchange with Interstate 64. Developed by Simon Property Group (who also owns and manages nearby Williamsburg Premium Outlets) and built by Cleveland Construction, the facility opened June 29, 2017, at the site of the old Lake Wright Golf Course, after one year of construction. Currently, about 50 stores are open with more to be added in the near future.

The Norfolk Botanical Garden (158 acres) is a botanical garden with arboretum located at 6700 Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, Virginia.

Norfolk Academy (NA) is an independent co-educational day school in Norfolk, Virginia. Chartered in 1728, it is the oldest private school in Virginia and the eighth oldest school in the United States. In 1966, Norfolk Academy merged with Country Day School for Girls in Virginia Beach, Virginia to create the current co-educational school. It serves students in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, and Suffolk. In sports, NA competes in the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools (TCIS) as well as in the Virginia Preparatory League (males) and the League of Independent Schools (females).

Metropolitan Memorial Park aka Met Park was a baseball stadium in Norfolk, Virginia. Built in 1969, it was the home to the Norfolk Tides (known at that time as the Tidewater Tides) until the construction of Harbor Park was completed for the Tides to play the 1993 season there. Met Park sat 6,200, and was located near the end of the primary runway of the Norfolk International Airport. This often proved distracting to fans and players when aircraft flew overhead, but inadvertently proved strategic – as the AAA franchise of the New York Mets, players for the Tides could hope to someday be called to play in Shea Stadium, the location of which endures similar noise from nearby LaGuardia Airport. After Met Park was demolished following the Tides' move to Harbor Park, the city built the Lake Wright Executive Center on the former Met Park land.

Virginia Wesleyan University (VWU) is a private university in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The university is nonsectarian but historically affiliated with The United Methodist Church. It enrolls 1,607 students annually in undergraduate and graduate programs, 355 students at LUJ/VWU Global (Japan), and 1,403 in VWU Online (Continuing Education). Virginia Wesleyan transitioned from a college to a university in 2017.The Virginia Wesleyan University campus is also home to the Chesapeake Bay Academy, an educational institution that educates and guides students with learning disabilities, including attention disorders (ADHD), dyslexia, and dysgraphia, and the Tidewater Collegiate Academy, an innovative laboratory for teaching and learning that extends from the primary grades through high school. Through academic collaboration with local arts and sciences partners, on-site learning experiences are also provided at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center and Brock Environmental Center in Virginia Beach; The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk; Sentara College of Health Sciences in Chesapeake; and the Norfolk Botanical Garden.VWU collaborates with Virginia Beach Economic Development for a work development center, The Hive, in Virginia Beach. Approximately 3,000 continuing education learners benefit from joint programs at The Hive.

Lake Taylor High School is a public high school located in Norfolk, Virginia and is the "Home of the Mighty Titans". It is administered by Norfolk City Public Schools. The school colors are red and black and its mascot is the Titans. Lake Taylor High is also the home to a NJROTC program and is called The Academy of Leadership and Military Science.

Chesapeake Bay Academy (founded in 1989) in Virginia Beach, Virginia is an educational institution that educates and guides students with learning disabilities, including attention disorders (ADHD), dyslexia, and dysgraphia.

Weblin House is a historic home located at Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was built in 1653, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, three-bay, Colonial era vernacular brick farmhouse. It is topped by a gambrel roof (the original gable roof was replaced after a fire) and has two massive exterior-end chimneys with a T-shaped stack and cap. A modern two-story brick wing is attached to the south end.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Norvella Heights is a neighborhood in the eastern portion of the Norview district of Norfolk, Virginia. Many of the homes that reside in this area were built in the 1950s and are, for the most part, one floor homes with crawlspaces. During the construction of I-64 in Norfolk, the neighborhood was split in two, and I-64 now forms the border between East Norview and West Norview. The neighborhood is also bound by Military Highway, Azalea Garden Road, and Norview Avenue. Currently, this subdivision is home to a high concentration of military personnel, primarily due to its proximity to the Norview Avenue interchange with I-64, therefore facilitating easy access to Naval Station Norfolk. At a previous time, there was a large warehouse-type building located in the neighborhood, a blight on Norvella Avenue and on Vivian Street. During the mid-2000s, the warehouse was razed, and new, larger homes were built in the area. In addition, this neighborhood is prone to flooding along Norvella Avenue, and, more frequently, along Texas Avenue and towards the part of the subdivision that is bounded by Azalea Garden Road.

Joint Expeditionary Base–Little Creek (JEB–LC), formerly known as Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek and commonly called simply Little Creek, is the major operating base for the Amphibious Forces in the United States Navy's Atlantic Fleet. The base comprises four locations in three states, including almost 12,000 acres (4,900 ha) of real estate. Its Little Creek location in Virginia Beach, Virginia, totals 2,120 acres (860 ha) of land. Outlying facilities include 350 acres (140 ha) located just north of Training Support Center Hampton Roads in Virginia Beach and 21 acres (8.5 ha) known as Radio Island at Morehead City, North Carolina, used for U.S. Coast Guard ships and personnel as well as serves as an amphibious embarkation/debarkation area for U.S. Marine Corps units at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. It is also home to the Naval School of Music. The mission of the Naval Amphibious Base is to provide required support services to over 15,000 personnel of the 27 homeported ships and 78 resident and/or supported activities. The base's combination of operational, support, and training facilities are geared predominantly to amphibious operations, making the base unique among bases of the United States and Allied Navies. The Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek is the largest base of its kind in the world. On October 1, 2009, Little Creek and the U.S. Army's Fort Story finished a two-year merge into one joint base, officially named Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek–Fort Story.
