Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport (IATA: SLR, ICAO: KSLR, FAA LID: SLR) is a city-owned, public-use airport located two nautical miles (4 km) northwest of the central business district of Sulphur Springs, a city in Hopkins County, Texas, United States. It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.It was named Texas Airport of the Year for 2003 by the Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division.

The Southwest Dairy Museum, located in Sulphur Springs, Texas, showcases the importance of the dairy industry and its role in Hopkins County. The Southwest Dairy Museum is funded by the dairy checkoff program. The idea for the museum came in 1982 when several in the dairy industry came up with the idea of preserving artifacts and historical documents related to the dairy industry in the United States, and specifically in rural areas. The museum followed in 1991.The museum, which consists of a 10,000-square-foot (930 m2) facility, serves as the headquarters for the many activities sponsored by the Southwest Dairy Farmers. The museum's exhibits include the life of a dairy farm before electricity came to rural areas and demonstrations on separating cream, the first step in dairy production. The museum's Mobile Dairy Classroom Program travels to schools, livestock shows, fairs and other special events to educate the public about dairy.

Sulphur Springs High School is a public high school located in Sulphur Springs, Texas, United States and classified as a 4A school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). It is part of the Sulphur Springs Independent School District located in central Hopkins County. In 2013, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

The Hopkins County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located in Sulphur Springs, Texas, the seat of Hopkins County. It was designed by San Antonio-based architect James Riely Gordon and constructed in 1894 and 1895. The courthouse was built in the Romanesque Revival architectural style with red sandstone and pink granite, and its design includes a number of unusual features, such as a double-helix staircase, a clockless tower, and entrances that are located on its northwest and southwest corners, instead of on its sides. The building was restored in 2001 and 2002 at a cost of $3.66 million to the State of Texas and $1.3 million to Hopkins County, and it continues to serve as an operating courthouse that is open to the public on a daily basis. The courthouse has also received numerous awards and accolades, including its designation as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1975 and its addition to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Gafford is an unincorporated community in Hopkins County, Texas, United States. It is also known as Gafford (or Gafford's) Chapel. It was named for Thomas Mayfield Gafford (1849-1927), who deeded land for a church there in 1881. The Gafford Chapel Cemetery is the burial place of many of the pioneers of Hopkins County. The coordinates of Gafford are 33.165 N, 95.695 W. It is located just off State Highway 11, a few miles northwest of Sulphur Springs.

Jim Chapman Lake (also known as Cooper Lake) is a 19,305-acre (78.12 km2) impoundment operated by the Army Corps of Engineers and is located 75 miles (121 km) east of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in the state of Texas. The reservoir was created by the 1991 Jim Chapman Dam and impounds the South Sulphur River, a fork of the Sulphur River. It provides water supply storage for the North Texas Municipal Water District, the Sulphur River Municipal Water District. The lake is known as a preferred location for fishing in the region. Species likely to be caught are blue and channel catfish, Florida largemouth bass, crappie, and hybrid striped bass. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Cooper Lake State Park is located on Jim Chapman Lake. The lake was formerly known as Cooper Lake, but was renamed by an act of Congress in 1998 to honor Jim Chapman, a former congressman from nearby Sulphur Springs. Cooper Lake State Park retains the earlier name.

Jim Chapman Dam (originally Cooper Dam, National ID # TX08012) is a dam in Delta County and Hopkins County, Texas, United States. The earthen dam was constructed in 1991 by the Southwestern Division of the United States Army Corps of Engineers with a height of 95 feet, and a length of 28,072 feet at its crest. It impounds the south fork of the Sulphur River for municipal water supply and recreation. The dam is owned and operated by the Corps of Engineers. The reservoir it creates, Jim Chapman Lake, has a 19,305-acre (7,812 ha) water surface and a maximum capacity of 797,000 acre-feet (983,000,000 m3). The lake is known as a preferred location for fishing in the region. Species likely to be caught are blue and channel catfish, bluegill, Florida largemouth bass, crappie and hybrid striped bass. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's two separate units of Cooper Lake State Park are located on Jim Chapman Lake. The Dam was formerly known as Cooper Dam. Both lake and dam were renamed by an act of Congress in 1998 to honor Jim Chapman, a former congressman from nearby Sulphur Springs.

Liberty Grove is a ghost town in Delta County, Texas, United States. The community was settled by 1854, the year its school opened. The farming community included the school and a cemetery as of 1936. In 1966, the community had about 25 residents. The community's cemetery was relocated in 1989, and the community was subsequently abandoned and flooded by Cooper Lake. A campsite in Cooper Lake State Park bears the community's name.
