Palazzo del Governatore, Piacenza

Piazza Cavalli is one of the oldest and main public squares in the historic center of the city of Piacenza, Italy. Once called Piazza Grande, it competes with the Piazza del Duomo, located some 4 blocks southeast for prominence. This square, unlike the latter, is mainly ringed by secular buildings relating to the political and business community. The piazza spaces here are irregular, lined to the northwest by the former city hall, the Palazzo Gotico, which is flanked to the south in a recessed fashion by the present city hall, the Palazzo del Collegio dei Mercanti. Along the east of the recess are two modern buildings, till one arrives to the contiguous open space east of the piazza before the church of San Francesco. To the north of the piazza rises the large neoclassic-style Palazzo del Governatore. The two equestrian statues that give the piazza its name are astride of facade of the Palazzo Gotico. The statues were designed by Francesco Mochi and commissioned on occasion of the arrival to Piacenza of Margherita Aldobrandini, the wife of Ranuccio I Farnese. The cost of the bronze statues was then 44,107 Roman scudi (presumably 7200 lira reggiana). The statue of Ranuccio was erected in 1620, and the statue of his father Alessandro Farnese, Duke of Parma (1545-1592) in 1624. The steed of the former horseman, who acquired a reputation as a brutal tyrant, appears tamed relative to that of Alessandro. The bas-reliefs at Alessandro's base depict military service of the Duke performed with Catholic armies: the [[ Fall of Antwerp|capture of Antwerp]] in 1585 and relieving the Siege of Paris (1590). The base of Alessandro's statue has an allegory of good government.

The Palazzo del Collegio dei Mercanti (Palace of the College of Merchants) is a baroque-style palace located recessed and to the left of the Palazzo Gotico facing Piazza del Cavalli in the historic center of Piacenza, northern Italy. It now houses the offices of the town hall and council.

San Donnino or San Donnino Martire is a Romanesque style Catholic church located at the intersection of Largo Cesare Battisti and Vicolo San Donnino in the historic center of Piacenza, Region of Emilia Romagna, Italy. Little is known of San Donnino (St Domninus), to whom the church is dedicated, as are other churches elsewhere, including Pisa. A St Domninus appears in early Church sources and some identify him with St Domninus of Fidenza, to whom Fidenza Cathedral is also dedicated. For some the Piacenza Domninus was a deacon of Piacenza in the early Christian period.

Palazzo Mandelli is a Baroque architecture-style palace located at the corner of Vie Bernardino Mandelli and San Marco in central Piacenza, region of Emilia-Romagna in Italy. The main portal rises in front of the church of San Dalmazio. The palace is presently home to the Banca d'Italia in Piacenza.

The Palazzo Ferrari Sacchini is a Baroque architecture-style aristocratic palace located at Via Giosuè Carducci #11 in central Piacenza, region of Emilia-Romagna in Italy. The palace also is referred to as the Palazzo Ferrari-Sacchini-Calciati-Costa referring to subsequent owners. The palace is now home to the local ministry of the treasury.

San Pietro is a Roman Catholic church in central Piacenza, Emilia Romagna, Italy. The church was built over the site of an ancient church titled San Pietro in Foro (St Peter of the Roman Forum).

The Biblioteca Passerini-Landi is the main library of the comune of Piacenza, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. A Royal Library was established in 1774 by Ferdinand, Duke of Parma, and sited at the former home of the Jesuit Seminary of San Pietro. In 1768, the Jesuit order had been expelled from the Duchy, and their collections had been confiscated. The library was placed under the guidance of the priest Cristoforo Poggiali and began functions by 1778. In 1791, the library was joined with the Biblioteca Passerini, established by Count Pier Francesco Passerini and owned by the Collegio of Theologians, and their collections were moved to San Pietro. The library was secularized during the Napoleonic administration. In 1878, the library acquired its present name to commemorate the donation, earlier in the century, of his library by Marchese Ferdinando Landi. The library was expanded with duplicates from the library of Parma and the contents of the Libreria Cardani of Modena. In 1799, the collection gained books from the suppression of the Augustinian monastery. In the early 19th century, Giuseppe Poggi donated his collection, including the 9th-century psalter of the empress Ermengarde of Hesbaye. The Pallastrelli endowment included troves of documents of local history. The Landi endowment includes a 1336 manuscript of the Divine Comedy.

The former Chiesa del Carmine (Church of the Carmine Order) is a Baroque style, now deconsecrated Roman Catholic church, located at Piazza Cassali #10, adjacent to the Casa del Mutilato in Piacenza, Region of Emilia Romagna, Italy. The space is now used for communal use administered by Laboratorio Aperto Piacenza.

The Casa del Mutilato is a government office located on Piazza Alessandro #11, adjacent to the former Chiesa del Carmine, in Piacenza, region of Reggio-Emilia, Italy. The building, erected during 1939–1941 to house offices of the Associazione Nazionale fra Mutilati ed Invalidi di Guerra (ANMIG), which aided men wounded in Italian wars. It also serves as a chapel or monument. The building designed by Alfredo Soressi, and is peppered with fascist imagery and reliefs honoring patriotic sacrifice.The entrance consists of a cylindrical projection with a portal flanked by two severe columns topped by eagles, recalling the Aquila atop some Ancient Roman standards. Above the door is a heraldic shield with three swords. The metal gate at the entrance has relief panels of soldiers leaving their family, and being rescued in battle. The walls and columns are given detail by rusticated surfaces.

San Giorgio in Sopramuro is a Baroque style, Roman Catholic oratory, located at via Sopramuro #61, in Piacenza, Region of Emilia Romagna, Italy. The church is also called San Giorgino to distinguish the temple from the church of San Giorgio in via Calzolai.

Santa Maria in Cortina is a small, Roman Catholic but now deconsecrated church located on Via Verdi, across from the Teatro Municipale and near the church of Sant'Antonino in the city of Piacenza in Italy. The name Cortina putatively derives from being nearby the offices of the ducal court in Piacenza.
