Højby Sjælland railway station

Højby Church is located in the village of Højby in Odsherred, northwestern Zealand, Denmark. Dating back to the beginning of the 12th century, it is constructed in granite. Several modifications have taken place since the original construction including a porch in the 13th century, Gothic cross-vaulting in the nave and chancel in the 14th century, a tower around the year 1400 as well as a vestry, a chapel and a new entrance porch towards the end of the Middle Ages.

Højby is a Danish town, seat of the Odsherred Municipality, in the Region Sjælland. Its population on 1 January 2023 was 1,409.

Odsherred is a peninsula in the north-western part of the island Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark. Odsherred stretches from the Sjællands Odde in the north-west to the now drained Lammefjord in the south, covering an area with a wide range of the most typical Danish landscapes: long sandy beaches, small rolling hills and farming. The peninsula is served by the railway Odsherredsbanen, which runs through the most important towns, including Nykøbing Sjælland, Asnæs and Hørve.

Annebjerggaard, also known as Anneberg, is a former manor house situated on the southern outskirts of Nykøbing Sjælland, Odsherred Municipality, some 90 km (56 mi) northwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is now operated as a cultural centre. The building is currently home to the administration of Odsherred Museum.

Odsherred Municipality (Danish: Odsherred Kommune) is a kommune in Odsherred, Region Sjælland in Denmark. It covers an area of 355 km2 with a total population of 32,225 (2025). Its seat is the town of Højby.

Until 1 January 2007 Nykøbing-Rørvig municipality was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in the former West Zealand County on the northwest coast of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark, at the mouth of the Isefjord. The municipality covered an area of 40 km², and had a total population of 7,610 (2005). Its last mayor was Vagn Ytte Larsen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The site of its municipal council is the town of Nykøbing Sjælland. To the northwest of the former municipality is Nyrup Bay (Nyrup Bugt) and Hesselø Bay (Hesselø Bugt), to the east is the Isefjord, and to the southeast is Nykøbing Bay (Nykøbing Bugt). Nykøbing-Rørvig municipality ceased to exist, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with existing Dragsholm and Trundholm municipalities to form the new Odsherred municipality. This create a municipality with an area of 355 km² and a total population of 32,739 (2005). The new municipality belongs to Region Sjælland ("Zealand Region").

Nykøbing, often referred to as Nykøbing Sjælland or Nykøbing Sj to distinguish it from Nykøbing F and Nykøbing M, is a seaside town in Denmark, located in Odsherred on the northwestern part of Zealand. Located on the Isefjord, it has a population of 5,016 (1 January 2025). It is located in Odsherred municipality which is part of Region Sjælland. The town is a popular seaside resort.

Nykøbing Sjælland railway station (Danish: Nykøbing Sjælland Station or Nykøbing Sjælland Banegård) is the main railway station serving the town of Nykøbing Sjælland on the Odsherred peninsula in northwestern Zealand, Denmark. The station is situated in the centre of the town on the southeastern edge of the historic town centre, and lies immediately adjacent to Nykøbing Sjælland's bus station. Nykøbing Sjælland station is the northern terminus of the Odsherredsbanen branch line from Holbæk to Nykøbing Sjælland. The station opened in 1899 with the opening of the Odsherredsbanen railway line. Its station building was built to designs by the Danish architect Heinrich Wenck. It offers frequent local train services to Holbæk operated by the regional railway company Lokaltog with onward connections from Holbæk to the rest of the Danish rail network.

The 1982 Harpoon missile misfire incident, in Danish dubbed hovsa-missilet ('The Whoops Missile'), was an unintentional discharge of a live Harpoon missile by Danish frigate HDMS Peder Skram during a training maneuver in the Kattegat on 6 September 1982. The missile traveled 34 kilometers at low altitude, severing several power lines before eventually striking a group of trees and exploding. The fireball and subsequent shockwave destroyed four nearby unoccupied summer cottages and caused minor damage to a further 130 buildings in the area. There were no injuries.

Malergården, situated at Plejstrup, Odsherred Municipality, is the former home of painter Sigurd Swane. It is now operated as a historic house museum.

Høve is a village in northwest Zealand with fewer than 200 inhabitants (2011). Høve is located near Sejerø Bay, five kilometers north of Asnæs, 17 kilometers southwest of Nykøbing Sjælland, and 25 kilometers northwest of Holbæk. The village is part of Odsherred Municipality and is in Asnæs Parish.

Sjællands Odde is a 15-kilometre-long (9.3 mi) peninsula on the northwest coast of Zealand between the Kattegat and Sejerø Bay. From the outermost point of the peninsula, Gniben, a reef juts some 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) out into the Kattegat.
