Højby Church (Odsherred)

Højby is a Danish town, seat of the Odsherred Municipality, in the Region Sjælland. Its population on 1 January 2023 was 1,409.

Odsherred is a peninsula in the north-western part of the island Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark. Odsherred stretches from the Sjællands Odde in the north-west to the now drained Lammefjord in the south, covering an area with a wide range of the most typical Danish landscapes: long sandy beaches, small rolling hills and farming. The peninsula is served by the railway Odsherredsbanen, which runs through the most important towns, including Nykøbing Sjælland, Asnæs and Hørve.

The 1982 Harpoon missile misfire incident, in Danish dubbed hovsa-missilet ('The Whoops Missile'), was an unintentional discharge of a live Harpoon missile by Danish frigate HDMS Peder Skram during a training maneuver in the Kattegat on 6 September 1982. The missile traveled 34 kilometers at low altitude, severing several power lines before eventually striking a group of trees and exploding. The fireball and subsequent shockwave destroyed four nearby unoccupied summer cottages and caused minor damage to a further 130 buildings in the area. There were no injuries.

Malergården, situated at Plejstrup, Odsherred Municipality, is the former home of painter Sigurd Swane. It is now operated as a historic house museum.

Høve is a village in northwest Zealand with fewer than 200 inhabitants (2011). Høve is located near Sejerø Bay, five kilometers north of Asnæs, 17 kilometers southwest of Nykøbing Sjælland, and 25 kilometers northwest of Holbæk. The village is part of Odsherred Municipality and is in Asnæs Parish.

Sjællands Odde is a 15-kilometre-long (9.3 mi) peninsula on the northwest coast of Zealand between the Kattegat and Sejerø Bay. From the outermost point of the peninsula, Gniben, a reef juts some 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) out into the Kattegat.

Asnæs is a town in Odsherred Municipality in northwestern Zealand in Denmark. It is situated approximately 90 kilometres west of Copenhagen and has a population of 3,109 (1. January 2023).The town is home to a swimming hall, a sports hall, Asnæs Skole folkeskole, Asnæs Centret shopping center, Odsherred Gymnasium, and a large production site for NKT Cables.

Hagestedgaard is a manor house and estate located at the village of Hagested, near Holbæk, Holbæk Municipality, some 60 kilometres west of Copenhagen, Denmark. The estate traces its history back to the 13th century but the current asymmetrical complex of single-storey, white-washed buildings surrounding a central courtyard was constructed for Hans Didrik Brinck-Seidelin in 1747 with the exception of the remains of a tower built by Johan Friis in 1555. The estate has been owned by members of the Castenskiold family since 1769.

Hagested Church (Danish: Hagested Kirke) is a Church of Denmark parish church situated in the little village of Hagested, adjacent to Hagestedgård, between Holbæk and Nykøbing Sjælland, some 80 kilometres (50 mi) west of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Lammefjord is a polder in Denmark at the base of the Odsherred peninsula. Previously a deeply branched arm of the sea leading west from the Isefjord, most of it is now reclaimed as agricultural land. The eastern third, outside the dyke at Avdebo, is still sea, but the name Lammefjorden now usually refers only to the dry part west of the dyke. The sandy former sea bed is excellent agricultural land, especially for crops such as carrots and potatoes. The draining project began in 1873, but it took until 1943 before the lowest elevations were pumped dry. Large parts of the fjord were shallow enough to be dry early on. In 1899 the Odsherred Railway opened across the western end of the fjord. The town of Fårevejle Stationsby grew up where the railway intersects that main road across the seabed; it serves as the administrative and mercantile center for much of the Lammefjord. The Lammefjord contains Denmark's lowest dry elevation, at 7.0 metres (23 feet 0 inches) below sea level. It is also in running for the lowest in the European Union (shared with Zuidplaspolder in the Netherlands).

Hærbygaard is a manor house and estate located on Tuse Næs, Holbæk Municipality, some 80 kilometres west of Copenhagen, Denmark. The current main building was constructed for Melchior Grevenkop-Castenskiold in 1861-62 and later expanded with a new north wing by Gotfred Tvede in 1900-1901.

Until 1 January 2007 Dragsholm municipality was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in West Zealand County on the northwest coast of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark, in a region known as Lammefjord, named after the inlet to the east of the municipality . The municipality covered an area of 152 km², and had a total population of 13,820 (2005). Its last mayor was Finn Madsen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The area is a popular summer home and beach area. Many people travel through the area on their way to Zealand's Point (Sjællands Odde), a long spit of land north of the municipality from where ferry service via Mols-linien connects Zealand to the Danish mainland, the Jutland peninsula, at Århus and Ebeltoft. Dragsholm municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Nykøbing-Rørvig and Trundholm municipalities to form the new Odsherred municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 355 km² and a total population of 32,739 (2005). The new municipality belong to Region Sjælland ("Zealand Region").
