Sunnyside Cemetery

Long Beach Municipal Cemetery, is a cemetery established as early as 1901 and located at the northwest corner of Willow Street and Orange Avenue in Signal Hill, California. It is located next door, and east of Sunnyside Cemetery. It was formerly known as Long Beach Signal Hill Cemetery, and also known as Long Beach Cemetery.Many of the early pioneer families of the city are buried here. Burials include the first Long Beach city health official, W.L. Cuthbert; and the founder of Willmore City, William Erwin Willmore.

The Long Beach Oil Field is a large oil field underneath the cities of Long Beach and Signal Hill, California, in the United States. Discovered in 1921, the field was enormously productive in the 1920s, with hundreds of oil derricks covering Signal Hill and adjacent parts of Long Beach; largely due to the huge output of this field, the Los Angeles Basin produced one-fifth of the nation's oil supply during the early 1920s. In 1923 alone the field produced over 68 million barrels of oil, and in barrels produced by surface area, the field was the world's richest. The field is eighth-largest by cumulative production in California, and although now largely depleted, still officially retains around 5 million barrels of recoverable oil out of its original 950 million. 294 wells remained in operation as of the beginning of 2008, and in 2008 the field reported production of over 1.5 million barrels of oil. The field is currently run entirely by small independent oil companies, with the largest operator in 2009 being Signal Hill Petroleum, Inc.

Sunrise, also known as Sunrise Boulevard, is a neighborhood in the city of Long Beach, California. In 1990, the City of Long Beach by Ordinance C-6834 designated this neighborhood as the "Sunrise Boulevard Historic Landmark District."

Miller Children's and Women's Hospital Long Beach is a non-profit children's hospital located on the campus of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in Long Beach, California. Miller Children's and Women's provides specialized pediatric care for infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21. The hospital also houses MemorialCare's women's services, providing maternity care to women across Southern California. The hospital has 357 beds.

It is the flagship hospital of the MemorialCare Health System. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission.Long Beach Memorial is one of only 3 hospitals in California with a 320 Slice CT Scanner and preventive technology and programs such as the Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscope (ENB) and the Division of Interventional Neuroradiology. The hospital includes facilities such as the MemorialCare Heart and Vascular Institute, the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute, the MemorialCare Rehabilitation Institute, the MemorialCare Orthopedic Institute, the MemorialCare Neuroscience Institute, MemorialCare Joint Replacement Center, Stroke Program and the Emergency Department and Trauma Center.Miller Children's Hospital is located on the campus of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.

Willow Street station is an at-grade light rail station on the A Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located adjacent to Long Beach Boulevard its intersection with Willow Street, after which the station is named, in the Wrigley neighborhood of Long Beach, California.South of this station, A Line trains exit the exclusive right-of-way (the historic route of the Pacific Electric Railway) and start their street running portion in the median of Long Beach Boulevard. Willow is a park and ride station with 920 parking spaces (including a multi-story parking facility) and 10 bike lockers. The Willow Street and Wardlow stations, both in Wrigley, are the two A Line stations closest to the Long Beach Municipal Airport.

College Medical Center, is a community-based teaching hospital located in Long Beach, California. It is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. It was purchased by Santa Fe Springs-based healthcare management company College Health Enterprises Inc., in October 2013 and renamed College Medical Center. This purchase joined the hospital with College Hospital Cerritos and College Hospital Costa Mesa as affiliates of College Health Enterprises.Since implementing infection control measures, the hospital has nearly eliminated methicillin resistant strains of staphylococcus (MRSA). Measures include an air ventilation system that uses ultraviolet light to kill germs, more time for maintenance staff to clean rooms, and more frequent hand washing by staff members.

Signal Hill is a city 2.2 sq mi (5.7 km2) in area in Los Angeles County, California. Located high on a hill, the city is an enclave completely surrounded by the city of Long Beach. Signal Hill was incorporated on April 22, 1924, roughly three years after oil was discovered there. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 11,016.

Chittick Field is a sports complex in Long Beach, California. Originally constructed (and still used) as a stormwater detention basin named Hamilton Bowl (after Hamilton Junior High School, which was located nearby), it is also known under multiple other names: Dee Andrews Sports Complex, "The Hole", "El Hoyo", and as a result of its deterioration in the 2000s, "The Dust Bowl". The complex includes a football field, an all-weather running track, and three lighted soccer fields.Located along Walnut Avenue, to the north of Pacific Coast Highway, the basin was built in 1936 to capture stormwater runoff from the Signal Hill area, as well as oil from an occasional oil gusher from one of the oil wells that dotted the neighborhood at the time. The basin still slows the peak flow of water downstream to the Los Angeles River during major storms; restoration of submerged playing fields after such occurrences takes about 90 days. The bowl overflowed during the 1939 California tropical storm.The baseball diamonds were originally built in the detention basin in 1950, with major expansions that included a soccer field and parking in the 1960s and the 1970s. Hamilton Bowl was renamed in 1983 in honor of Brian Chittick, a creator of the Kid Baseball Association, and in 2021 was again renamed to Dee Andrews Sports Complex at Chittick Field after a former city council member.

Eastside or East Side has had two different meanings in the city of Long Beach, California. The first, and more current meaning, refers to an area roughly comprising the eastern half of the city, usually excluding areas south of the east–west line made by Pacific Coast Highway/Atherton Street. This area is also called East Long Beach. The second meaning was the area east of the Los Angeles River and north of downtown Long Beach and became notable in the hip-hop gangsta rap of the 1990s. The neighborhood has a large Jamaican and Lebanese population. Cambodia Town is located in the neighborhood.

Southern California Military Academy (SCMA) was a private, all male military academy from 1924 to 1987, for both daily and resident students, located in Signal Hill, California at the corner of Cherry Avenue and 21st Street, In greater Long Beach, California. It had classes from kindergarten through 9th grades. The school was known for a highly educated teaching staff and a cadre of experienced former military officers. SCMA stressed high educational standards with military discipline and religious values. The school was not a facility for troubled students, but rather provided an advanced and diverse educational environment for those seeking greater achievement, while grooming them for future leadership. The local hallmark of SCMA was its World War I field artillery pieces displayed out on Cherry Avenue in the then oil town of Signal Hill, overlooking the Port of Long Beach.

KKJZ (88.1 MHz FM, "K-Jazz 88.1") is a non-commercial public radio station in Southern California broadcasting from the Long Beach State campus. The station is one of several public radio stations in Southern California presenting jazz and blues. The California State University Long Beach Foundation owns the non-commercial broadcast license for KKJZ; as a public radio station, it is funded by contributions from listener-members and other donors, with 75% of the station's funding coming from station memberships. Global Jazz, Inc., an affiliate of Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters, Inc., programs and manages the radio station.The station's antenna is located on the top of Signal Hill in the Long Beach area, and its studios are located on campus at the Foundation Building. KKJZ is also available through internet streaming audio and in Japan via direct broadcast satellite on MBCO (Mobile Broadcasting Corporation). According to U.S. Federal Communications Commission rules for a Class B station, KKJZ could broadcast with a maximum power of 50,000 watts using the same antenna height of 137 meters.
