Kilcoo Owen Roes (Irish: Eoghan Rúa Cill Chua) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Kilcoo, County Down, Northern Ireland. They are the most successful club in the Down Senior Football Championship having won it 21 times. The club has also won the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship twice and the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship once.

Kilcoo (from Irish Cill Chua, meaning 'church of mourning' – from the legend that Saint Patrick's body stayed there while on its way to Downpatrick to be buried) is a small village and civil parish in County Down, Northern Ireland. It lies between Rathfriland and Castlewellan and is within the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area. The village is on the A25 Dublin Road 6 kilometres (4 mi) south-west of Castlewellan. Kilcoo had a population 1415 people in the 2001 Census.

Lough Island Reavy is a small man-made lough in Kilcoo, County Down, Northern Ireland. It is a fishing spot, which is controlled by the Kilcoo Angling Club. The lake contains pike and perch, as well as small numbers of wild brown trout and eels.

Ballyward railway station was on the Great Northern Railway (Ireland) which ran from Banbridge to Castlewellan in Northern Ireland.

The Dolly's Brae conflict occurred near Castlewellan in County Down, Ulster, on 12 July 1849. A large group of Orangemen had elected to march from Ballyward Church to Tollymore Park and back again. The outward journey proceeded without incident, but as the Orangemen were returning, they were confronted at Dolly's Brae by a group of Catholic Ribbonmen intent on blocking their progress. The Ribbonmen were ultimately dispersed with the help of the army and police. At least five people died, one an Orangeman and the others Catholic civilians who were killed in retaliation for the attack. It has been claimed that as many as 30 Ribbonmen may have fallen, but this is unconfirmed. The violence led directly to the Party Processions Act of 1850, curtailing activities perceived to be sectarian in Ireland. Nevertheless, the conflict entered Ulster Protestant folk memory as the Battle of Dolly's Brae.

Derryneill (from Irish Doire Néill, meaning 'Niall's oak-wood') is a townland of 1,049 acres in County Down, Northern Ireland, near to Leitrim, County Down. It is situated in the civil parish of Drumgooland and the historic barony of Iveagh Upper, Lower Half. Derryneill is mainly made up of small rocky drumlins.

Cabra is a large townland in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is in the parish of Clonduff and is situated approximately two miles from Hilltown, Rathfriland and Kilcoo. Cabra has a tradition of farming, with the three most common farming methods in Cabra being: sheep farming/breeding, crop growing (corn and barley) and cow farming/breeding."Townland stones" have been erected to keep Cabra in touch with its local heritage. Cabra has one primary school, St.Pauls; which has around 90 children attending. All together Cabra has around 150 residents living within its boundaries, with a small post office, one church, and a community hall.

Annahunshigo (from Irish Eanach Uinseogach 'ash-tree marsh') is a rural townland in County Down, Northern Ireland. It has an area of 555.9 acres (2.2495 km2). It is situated in the civil parish of Drumballyroney and the historic barony of Iveagh Upper, Lower Half, located 4 miles east of Rathfriland. It lies within the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.

Leitrim (from Irish Liatroim 'grey ridge'), is a small village in County Down, Northern Ireland, approximately 3 miles from Castlewellan, near Dromara, in the parish of Drumgooland. It is set between the Dromara Hills (Slieve Croob) and the Mourne Mountains. It is claimed to be home to the MacCartan clan of Kinelarty. Within the centre of Leitrim village there is a Catholic Church, a shop and a bar. Along the Backaderry road there is also a pre-school, an animal feed factory and the local Gaelic club. Leitrim’s Gaelic club (Liatroim Fontenoys GAC) is disputed to be the oldest in Down – being founded in 1888. Leitrim has developed friendly rivalrys with Kilcoo GAC and Castlewellan GAC. Most years Leitrim will hold a festival in and around the club grounds. Although there is only one village named Leitrim in south down, near Hilltown there is a small forest area and camping site named Leitrim lodge.

Liatroim Fontenoys is a Gaelic Athletic Association Club in County Down, Northern Ireland. The club promotes hurling, Gaelic football, and camogie.
