Main Street Square is a station on the METRORail Red Line in Houston, Texas (USA). This originally was the 3rd station heading south along the rail line and is in the heart of downtown. There are many shopping areas and offices nearby. The station is located on Main Street in Downtown Houston and has two separate platforms. The northbound platform is located between the Walker and McKinney Streets, while the southbound platform is located between Lamar and Dallas Streets. These two platforms are divided by the Main Street Square fountain.

The City National Bank Building, located at 1001 McKinney Avenue in Houston, Texas, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 3, 2000.

The Bender Hotel was a ten-story building in Downtown Houston on Main Street at the corner of Walker. It was later known as the San Jacinto Hotel, and later repurposed as an office building before it was demolished.

The Stowers Building is located at 820 Fannin Street in downtown Houston. The building was constructed in 1913 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The building is named for George Arthur Stowers and his furniture company, which had moved into the new "skyscraper" after a fire at his Main Street store. The local firm of Green & Finger designed the ten-story building which was constructed out of reinforced steel by Pearson & Co. The building was representative of a period of skyscraper construction in Houston between 1908 and 1913. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Downtown is the largest central business district in the city of Houston and the largest in the state of Texas, located near the geographic center of the metropolitan area at the confluence of Interstate 10, Interstate 45, and Interstate 69. The 1.84-square-mile (4.8 km2) district, enclosed by the aforementioned highways, contains the original townsite of Houston at the confluence of Buffalo Bayou and White Oak Bayou, a point known as Allen's Landing. Downtown has been the city's preeminent commercial district since its founding in 1836. Downtown is also a major destination for entertainment and recreation. Nine major performing arts organizations are located within the 13,000-seat Theater District at prominent venues including Alley Theatre, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, Jones Hall, and the Wortham Theater Center. Two major professional sports venues, Minute Maid Park and the Toyota Center, are home to the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets, respectively. Discovery Green, an urban park located on the east side of the district adjacent to the George R. Brown Convention Center, anchors the city's convention district. Downtown is Houston's civic center, containing Houston City Hall, the jails, criminal, and civil courthouses of Harris County, and a federal prison and courthouse. Downtown is also a major public transportation hub, lying at the center of the light rail system, park and ride system, and the metropolitan freeway network; the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) is headquartered in the district. Over 100,000 people commute through Downtown daily. An extensive network of pedestrian tunnels and skywalks connects a large number of buildings in the district; this system also serves as a subterranean mall. Geographically, Downtown is bordered by East Downtown to the east, Third Ward to the south, Midtown to the southwest, Fourth Ward to the west, Sixth Ward to the northwest, and Near Northside to the north. The district's streets form a strict grid plan of approximately 400 square blocks, oriented at a southwest to northeast angle. The northern end of the district is crossed by Buffalo Bayou, the banks of which function as a linear park with a grade-separated system of hike-and-bike trails.

One City Centre is a 410 ft (125 m) tall skyscraper in Houston, Texas, United States, made from glass, steel, and concrete It was completed in 1960. It has 32 floors and is the 46th tallest building in the city. Originally called the First City National Bank Building, One City Centre is the first high modern office building built in downtown Houston. Along the parking garage a message sign made of hundreds of lights flashes animations to coordinate with the evening shows of water and light along the Main Street Square fountain and light rail area.

811 Main (formerly BG Group Place and MainPlace) is a 630 ft (192 m) tall skyscraper in Downtown Houston, Texas. It was completed in February 2011 and has 46 floors. It is LEED Platinum Certified. When it was completed, BG Group Place became the 15th tallest building in Houston and features a skygarden on the 39th floor. It is the tallest building built in Houston in 23 years, after the Heritage Plaza was completed in 1987. The naming was done when BG Group Plc became an anchor tenant and leased 164,000sq ft of space. The primary monument & all core signage for the facility was built by Ad Display Sign Systems. Battelstein's is a commercial skyscraper located on Main Street in downtown Houston, Texas, United States. From 1924 until 1980, it housed an eponymous department store founded by Philip Battelstein. Originally only two floors, it was expanded to its present ten-story form between 1934 and 1950 by architects Joseph Finger and George Rustay. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 6, 2020.

1000 Main, formerly Reliant Energy Plaza, is a 518-foot (158 m) tall skyscraper in Downtown Houston, Texas managed by Transwestern. It houses the headquarters of GenOn Energy, and the building has around 800,000 square feet (74,000 m2) of space.1000 Main was constructed from 2001 to 2003 and has 36 floors. It is the 25th tallest building in Houston. It is made out of glass, steel, and concrete. Lights atop the building and on the main street side flash in patterns of various colors at night. This building occupies the site where the Lamar Hotel stood before it was demolished in 1985. A two-level trading floor with 30 ft high ceilings, currently leased by the trading arm of Shell plc, is located on the 10th and 11th floors. It is squeezed between the garage and the office tower. Century development built the Reliant Energy Plaza. In 2003 Reliant Energy occupied more than 500,000 square feet (46,000 m2) of space in the building. During the same year two subsidiaries of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Marsh USA and Mercer Human Resource Consulting, had a combined 105,000 square feet (9,800 m2) of space in the building. The Reliant Energy Plaza was 86% leased in 2003.

The Consulate-General of Japan in Houston (在ヒューストン日本国総領事館, Zai Hyūsuton Nippon-koku Sōryōjikan) is Japan's diplomatic facility in Houston, Texas, United States. It is located in Suite 3000 at 2 Houston Center, which is located at 900 Fannin Street in Downtown Houston. The consulate serves Texas and Oklahoma.As of 2020 the consul general is Hideo Fukushima (福島 秀夫, Fukushima Hideo).

Houston Center is a retail and office complex in Downtown Houston, Texas, United States. It is owned by Brookfield Property Partners and Spear Street Capital, LLC, and operated separately by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) and Brookfield Property Management. The three towers in Houston Center have almost 3,400,000 square feet (320,000 m2) of Class A office space. First City Tower, located at 1001 Fannin, is a skyscraper in downtown Houston, Texas. The building rises 662 feet (202 m) in height. Completed in 1981, it contains 49 floors. First City Tower currently stands as the 14th-tallest building in the city. The architectural firm who designed the building was Morris-Aubry, and was built by W. S. Bellows Construction Corporation. The structure is an example of late-modernist architecture. The tower, which formerly housed the headquarters of the now-defunct First City National Bank, now serves as the global headquarters of Waste Management, Inc, and the headquarters of Vinson & Elkins. It also houses the U.S. headquarters of Campus Living Villages.The building, with Class A office space, has 1,300,000 square feet (120,000 m2) of office space. The building is noted for its distinctive "staircase cuts" on the north and south facades, and is composed mostly of aluminum and green-tinted glass. These designs were designed to represent the letter "F" for the building's developer and first major tenant, First City Bank, which was itself founded by attorneys of the international law firm Vinson & Elkins. First City Tower was constructed in a diagonal rotation away from Houston's main north–south street grid, which gives the impression that the structure has a larger footprint than it actually does.
