Electronics City, Kochi, also known as NeST Electronic City is an under construction Special Economic Zone targeting electronics hardware manufacturing, promoted by NeST group located at Kochi, India. The SEZ will be built over a land area of 30 acres (12.1 ha) in Kalamassery on a budget of ₹2500 Crores.The notified processing area will extend to 2,000,000 sq ft (185,800 m2), dedicated to Electronics Hardware Manufacturing, Software Development and IT Enabled services. It also accommodates a non processing area of 1,500,000 sq ft (139,400 m2) occupied by a shopping mall with multiplex and an international convention centre, as well as residential apartments and condominiums.

Government Medical College, Ernakulam (previously Cochin Medical College) is one of the medical colleges in the state of Kerala situated at Kalamassery, Kochi. It was a government-owned institution established by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education under the Department of Co-operation, Govt. of Kerala, established in the year 1999. The college has an intake capacity of 110 students (100 students till 2019) for the MBBS course each year. It was taken over by the Government of Kerala as a pure government institution on 11 December 2013. Cyber City, Kochi, also known as Adani Cyber City, is a proposed Special Economic Zone information technology park in the city of Kochi, Kerala, India. It is promoted by Adani and is located near HMT at Kalamassery. The SEZ will be built over a land area of 70 acres (28.3 ha). Construction was expected to start on 17 February 2011, and the first phase was scheduled to be within two years. The current status of the project is uncertain as the work never commenced as planned. According to the rules governing a Special Economic Zone, 70% of the built-up area will be processing area for IT and ITES business, primarily for export. The remaining 30 per cent is categorised as a non-processing zone and will feature shopping malls, convention centres, apartment complexes and other lifestyle needs, developing it into a full-fledged township.The first phase consists of a built-up space of 1,000,000 sq ft (92,900 m2), to be built in two years. Once completed, it will house a built-up space of 10,000,000 sq ft (929,000 m2).

The School of Engineering is a college under Cochin University of Science and Technology, in Kochi (Cochin), Kerala, India. Established in 1979 for offering part-time M.Tech programmes. The school was the first in the country to introduce Information Technology as an engineering stream and is one among very few colleges in the country with a B. Tech course in Safety and Fire Engineering. The school is a Research Centre and major Consultancy Centre. A number of research projects of national importance have been sanctioned to the school by agencies like DRDO, ISRO, DST, AICTE, UGC, Coir Board, and the Coconut Development Board. B.Tech programmes offered by the school have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation under the Tier-I system. The board has been accorded permanent signatory status to the Washington Accord on 13 June 2014. As per the Washington Accord agreement, recognition of programmes by other signatories applies only to programmes accredited by the National Board of Accreditation that are offered by education providers accepted by the board as Tier-1 institutions.
