Sacramento Valley Station is an Amtrak railway station in the city of Sacramento, California, at 401 I Street on the corner of Fifth Street. It is the seventh busiest Amtrak station in the country, and the second busiest in the Western United States with thousands of riders a day and over a million passengers per year. Today, it is served by 38 daily Amtrak and Amtrak California trains and many Amtrak Thruway Motorcoaches. It is also the western terminus of the Sacramento RT Gold Line light rail system and the Route 30 bus serving Sacramento State University.

The Robert T. Matsui United States Courthouse is home to the Sacramento Division of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. It is located at 500 I Street, Sacramento, CA. The building is named for the late congressman Bob Matsui.

The Squatters' riot was an uprising and conflict that took place between squatting settlers and the government of Sacramento, California (then an unorganized territory annexed after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo) in August 1850 concerning the lands that John Sutter controlled in the region and the extremely high prices that speculators set for land that they had acquired from Sutter. The influx of squatters was a consequence of the 1848 California Gold Rush; when courts began to take legal action against squatters in the area, the squatters mobilized under Dr. Charles L. Robinson and Joseph Maloney and challenged mayor Hardin Bigelow and sheriff Joseph McKinney; the conflict was ultimately resolved, and the speculation in Sacramento ended as a result.

Folsom Powerhouse Station A is a historical building in Sacramento, California. The Folsom Powerhouse Station is a California Historical Landmark No. 633.2 listed on March 3, 1958. Station A was constructed by the Sacramento Electric Power and Light Company in 1894. Folsom Powerhouse Station A is located at the northeast corner of 6th and H Streets. Folsom Powerhouse Station A was the first electricity distribution site for Sacramento. The electricity came from Folsom Powerhouse, California Historical Landmark No. 633.0. The Folsom Powerhouse Station A started operates on July 13, 1895. With the power, Folsom Powerhouse Station A was able run the first overhead wire streetcar system not just Sacramento, but the nearby California Central Valley. Folsom Powerhouse Station A, outputted alternating current (AC) produced by the Folsom Powerhouse hydroelectric power station. This AC system was one of the first AC system in the United States, as at the time other systems were DC current.

The Sacramento Hall of Justice, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a historic building located in Sacramento, California. It is a premiere local example of Beaux Arts Classicism. The inspiration for the building comes from local architect Rudolph Herold, who sought the contract for the Hall of Justice, as well as the City Beautiful movement during the early 20th century. Shea & Lofquist were awarded the contract and their design was required to be compatible with the Herold-designed Sacramento County Courthouse at Seventh and I streets.

Pioneer Firehouse was the first Firehouse in Sacramento, California built in 1854. The site of the Firehouse is a California Historical Landmark No. 612 listed on May 22, 1957. Pioneer Firehouse was run by the Sacramento Fire Department, Engine Company #1. The Pioneer Firehouse was a two-story building on the corner of 3rd Street and J Street and is the oldest fire company of California. The Sacramento Fire Department founded on February 5, 1850.

The Sacramento County Jail is one of the county jails for the Sacramento County area of the US State of California, serviced by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. It is located on 651 I Street, approximately 100 meters from Downtown Commons. Completed in 1989, the jail complex includes the Lorenzo Patiño Hall of Justice of the Sacramento County Superior Court. The jail replaces the Sacramento County Sheriff's Jail, formerly located at 620 I Street, which was demolished after the completion of this complex in 1989.The jail has been operating under a federal consent decree since 1993.

Sacramento First Congregational Church, (Pioneer Congregational Church) was the first church in Sacramento, California founded in 1849. The site of the First Congregational Church building is a California Historical Landmark No. 612 listed on May 22, 1957. The first church in Sacramento was founded in 1849 by Rev. Joseph A. Benton. Benton was the pastor from 1849 to 1863. The Church building was at 915 6th Street, built in 1854. A cornerstone ceremony was held on September 21, 1854. Before the church building was built the Church used a small one-room schoolhouse on the northwest corner of I and 3rd Streets, 303 I Street, in Old Sacramento. The attendees at the founding were mostly Swiss and German settlers of Sutter's Fort and New Helvetia. The church grew with the California Gold Rush pioneers coming to California. The site is now an office building on L Street. In 1926 Pioneer Congregational Church built a new church building, its third building, at 2700 L street, that is still in used.

Downtown Commons (or DOCO), formerly known as Sacramento Downtown Plaza, Westfield (Shoppingtown) Downtown Plaza and Downtown Plaza, is a two-level outdoor mixed-use entertainment and shopping complex operated by JMA Ventures, LLC, located along the alignment of K Street (also known as David J. Stern Walk between 5th and 7th Streets) in downtown Sacramento, California, United States, near the State Capitol building. The complex is bordered by J Street to the north, L Street to the south, 7th Street to the east and 4th Street to the west. Downtown Commons' previous format was a mainly two-level outdoor shopping mall commonly known as Downtown Plaza, despite numerous official name changes over the years. The majority of the site has been redeveloped, centering on the Golden 1 Center, home of the NBA's Sacramento Kings. The section between 5th and 7th Streets was demolished in 2014 to make room for the Golden 1 Center, as well as The Sawyer, a 250-room boutique hotel operated by Kimpton Hotels immediately north of the arena site. The remaining standing section between 4th and 5th Streets was also redeveloped a few years later in association with the arena project.

The Pony Express Terminal, also known as the B. F. Hastings Bank Building, is a historic commercial building at 1000 2nd Street in Sacramento, California. Built in 1852, it was the western endpoint of the Pony Express from 1860 to 1861, the period of the service's operation. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966. It now houses a museum dedicated to the history of Wells Fargo, and is part of Old Sacramento State Historic Park, itself a National Historic Landmark District.

Weinstock's, originally Weinstock, Lubin, and Co., was an American department store chain headquartered in Sacramento, California. It was founded by Harris Weinstock and his half-brother, David Lubin. The chain was purchased by Hale's in 1949, becoming part of Broadway-Hale Stores, later Carter Hawley Hale. In 1978, Weinstock's expanded into Utah by rebranding its sister chain The Broadway's location at Fashion Place in Murray into that name, with two stores later in Ogden and Salt Lake City. In 1991, Weinstock's operations were later assumed by its other sister chain The Emporium. In 1993, Weinstock's closed its three Utah stores, eventually bringing Dillard's to Utah for the first time with its first store in Murray's former location. The chain was later purchased by Federated Department Stores (now Macy's, Inc.) in 1995, resulting in most of the Weinstock's stores to be converted to Macy's. Some of the remaining stores were either closed or sold, with two of them to Gottschalks, at Vintage Faire Mall in Modesto and Fashion Fair in Fresno. This also brought Dillard's to California for the first time with its new store built on the former Weinstock's site at Weberstown Mall in Stockton.

Sacramento First Courthouse also, Former California State Capitol site, is historical site in Sacramento, California. The Courthouse was also the first and second California State Capitol. The site is California Historical Landmark No. 869, registered on January 11, 1974. At the northwest corner of 7th Street and I Street, 651 I Street, Sacramento was a building that served as California's State Capitol. The first period was January 16, 1852 to May 4, 1852, and the second period was from March 1, 1854, to May 15, 1854, with the California State Legislature third and fifth sessions. The 651 I Street building was the Sacramento County courthouse. The site of former California State Capitol - Sacramento County courthouse is now the Main Sacramento County Jail built in 1989. A California Historical marker was place at the site in 2007 by California State Parks working the Sacramento Trust for Historic Preservation.
