South Dakota Public Universities and Research Center, also known as University Center, is a cooperative higher education delivery system in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Six universities offer classes at this site: University of South Dakota, Dakota State University, South Dakota State University, Black Hills State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and Northern State University. The site, until recently known as "USDSU," has become popular with non-traditional students living in or around Sioux Falls. In 2006, the South Dakota Board of Regents received authorization to obtain a large area in Sioux Falls to construct a new campus for its Sioux Falls offerings.University Center will become a college of the University of South Dakota named "The Community College for Sioux Falls, a branch of USD", a change approved by the Board of Regents in April 2019.

Southeast Technical College (STC), sometimes called Southeast Tech, is a two-year technical community college in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, United States. Southeast Area Vocational Technical School was founded in 1968 and first operated out of various buildings across Sioux Falls. In 1989, it moved onto its current campus and changed its name to Southeast Vocational Technical Institute. It shortened its name to Southeast Technical Institute in 1993, before adopting its current name following a statewide restructure of the technical college system in 2020. It offers associate degrees and certificates in programs related to business, technology, healthcare, trades, and other sectors. The institution is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

The Sioux Empire Fair is a fair held annually each summer in Sioux Falls at the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Attendance at the 2014 fair was 280,985.The Sioux Empire Fair includes carnival rides, fair food, livestock shows, horse shows, and art competitions daily. Special themed days feature deals for senior citizens, farmers, daycares, families, and more. Among the free family entertainments are magic shows, hands-on activities, Old Mac Donald's Farm, The Pipestone Discovery Barn, music, and game vendors. Pro rodeo and local, regional, and national headline concerts are featured and are free with paid fair admission. The 76th Annual Sioux Empire Fair will be held on July 31-August 9, 2015 with the theme being Meet Me at the Fair.

Daytime-only operation protects clear-channel stations KOKC at Oklahoma City and WWKB at Buffalo, New York. It also broadcasts on FM translator K227CZ 93.3 FM in Sioux Falls from its transmitter site near the intersection of West Madison and Marion Roads.

The Sanford Pentagon (colloquially known as The Pentagon) is an indoor arena located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Pentagon opened in September 2013 and has a seating capacity of 3,250 spectators. It hosts the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA G League. The facility is known for hosting a wide range of sporting events including: regional youth basketball tournaments, NCAA Division I basketball games, NCAA Division II basketball games and tournaments, mixed martial arts events, and occasional concerts.

Howard Wood Field is a stadium in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, constructed in 1957. Holding 10,000 people, it is one of the premier football, soccer and track facilities in the region. Field turf was installed to replace the natural grass after a renovation project in 2003.

The building is located at 1201 North West Avenue, and is connected to the Sioux Falls Arena and Sioux Falls Convention Center. The Arena's naming rights partners, and largest sponsors, are Sanford Health, First Premier Bank and Premier Bankcard.Completed in 2014, the arena has a seating capacity of approximately 12,000 spectators and replaces the DakotaDome and Rushmore Plaza Civic Center as the largest indoor venue in South Dakota. The Sioux Falls Arena hosts smaller concerts and events, while the Denny Sanford Premier Center hosts large scale concerts and sporting events.

Sioux Falls Arena is a 7,500-seat multi-purpose arena located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The facility was built in 1961. It seats 6,113 for basketball games and 4,760 for indoor football and hockey.It was the home of the Sioux Falls Skyforce basketball team (1989–2013), the Sioux Falls Storm indoor football team, and the Sioux Falls Stampede ice hockey team, as well as a variety of state high school championship events. The Sioux Falls Arena hosted the men's and women's Summit League Basketball Championship from 2009 until the opening of the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in 2014. Beginning in the fall of 2014, the Arena has been the home of Augustana University Vikings men's and women's basketball games. Elvis Presley performed one of his final concerts here on June 22, 1977.

Sogen Con was an annual three-day anime convention held during the summer months at the Sioux Falls Convention Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It was originally based in Minnesota until moving before the 2007 convention. The name of the convention is based from the Japanese word for prairie, sogen.

Sioux Falls Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It originally opened in 1941 and was renovated in 2000. It is primarily used for baseball and is the home field of the unaffiliated Sioux Falls Canaries baseball team of the American Association. It was their home stadium when they won the American Association championship in 2008. Promoting the home team, the stadium is often affectionately proclaimed "The Birdcage". The stadium has a capacity of up to 4,462 people.
