Mill Creek Wind Farm is a wind farm in the Ohariu Valley near Wellington, New Zealand.The wind farm is operated by Meridian Energy and has 26 wind turbines. The application for resource consents described the project as having a total capacity of up to 71.3MW. The wind farm covers an area of approximately 18 square kilometres (7 sq mi) and was planned to use 31 Siemens 2.3MW wind turbines. A 33,000-volt power line connects the wind farm to Transpower's Wilton substation, where the farm's electricity is injected into both Wellington Electricity's local distribution network and the national grid. The resource consents were granted in February 2009 with conditions, including a limit of 29 turbines and a maximum height of 111 m (364 ft). Local Ohariu Valley residents who opposed the development lodged an appeal to the Environment Court. In August 2011, the Environment Court approved the resource consents for the project, subject to a limit of 26 turbines.Construction began in late 2012, and the first electricity was generated in May 2014. It became fully operational in October 2014.

Ohariu (or Ohariu Valley) is a suburb of Wellington, New Zealand. It is a rural area, located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from Khandallah. The name is a corruption of Owhariu, where, according to Māori mythology, Kupe dried the sails of his canoe. The area is governed by the Mākara / Ōhāriu Community Board.The name of the locality has given its name to two general electorates: Ōhāriu (first formed for the 1978 election without macrons) and Ohariu-Belmont (which existed from 1996 to 2008).

The summit is 445 metres above sea level and is the most visible high point in the Wellington landscape further accentuated by Wellington's main television transmitter mast, which stands 122m from the summit. The city, harbour and the Remutaka and Tararua Ranges can be seen from the summit. On a clear day Mt. Tapuae-o-Uenuku and the Kaikōura Ranges in the South Island may be seen, whilst northwest is the Porirua Basin and the Tasman Sea.

Rangituhi / Colonial Knob (Māori: [ɾaŋitʉhi]) is a large hill or mountain southwest of Porirua city and west of the northern Wellington suburb of Tawa. The peak's summit stands at 468 m (1,535 ft). Kapiti Island and Mana Island can be seen from the peak, and on a clear day the inland Kaikōura Ranges to the south and Mount Taranaki to the north may also be seen.Rangituhi / Colonial Knob was formed from part of a 30–40 million year old peneplain, that has since been raised by earthquakes and eroded.The hill is the location of the Rangituhi / Colonial Knob Scenic Reserve administered by the Department of Conservation, and Te Rāhui o Rangituhi and Spicer Botanical Park both administered by Porirua City Council. These reserves include a significant amount of the remaining native forest in the Tawa-Porirua Basin.The Rangituhi / Colonial Knob Walkway makes up part of the Te Araroa national walkway.

Daisy Hill Farm House is a historic building in Johnsonville, Wellington, New Zealand. The house was built in about 1860 for Robert Bould, a pioneer farmer. He came to New Zealand with the New Zealand Company in the early 1840s and bought land for a sheep farm in Johnsonville in 1853.Between the world wars, the sheep farm became a dairy farm, run by Hayes and later Martelli. The land supported nearly forty Jerseys, brindles and Ayrshires without extra crops for feed.Built in a simplified Georgian style, it is one of the few remaining houses of this type in Wellington. The building is classified as a Category I ("places of special or outstanding historical or cultural heritage significance or value") historic place by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.

Churton Park is a suburb 1.5 km north of Johnsonville in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. It was established in the 1970s.The suburb includes Churton Park Reserve which includes a recreational sports field, two primary schools and a kindergarten. The Churton Park Community Centre, which is managed and staffed by Wellington City Council, is also located in the Village.

Ōhāriu, previously spelled Ohariu and then Ōhariu, is a New Zealand parliamentary electorate returning one Member of Parliament to the House of Representatives. It first existed from 1978 to 1993, and was recreated for the 2008 election. In 2008, it was the successor to Ohariu-Belmont, first contested at the first mixed-member proportional (MMP) election in 1996. Through its existence Ohariu-Belmont was represented by Peter Dunne, leader of the United Future party. Dunne contested and won the recreated electorate in 2008. He announced on 21 August 2017 that he would not stand in the 2017 general election.

Chew Cottage is an historic building in Wellington, New Zealand.The house, originally named "Millwood", was built in 1865 for John and Ester Chew. The cottage is one of Wellington's remaining houses from the 1860s. It resembles a traditional English stone cottage adapted for timber construction.The building, is classified as a "Category I" ("places of special or outstanding historical or cultural heritage significance or value") historic place by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.

The Johnsonville Branch, also known as the Johnsonville Line, is a commuter branch line railway from the main Railway Station of Wellington, New Zealand to the northern suburb of Johnsonville via Ngaio and Khandallah. Transdev Wellington operates the trains under contract from the Greater Wellington Regional Council. In 2001, an estimated 1,043 passengers used the line on a working day.The line has seven tunnels and eight stations. Four stations (Crofton Downs, Awarua Street, Box Hill, and Raroa) are on a curve. There are three crossing loops: at Ngaio and Khandallah stations and below Wadestown in the Ngaio Gorge.
