Powell Library

The library system of the University of California, Los Angeles, is one of the largest academic research libraries in North America, with a collection of over twelve million books and 100,000 serials. The UCLA Library System is spread over 12 libraries, 12 other archives, reading rooms, research centers and the Southern Regional Library Facility, which serves as a remote storage facility for southern UC campuses. It is among the ten largest academic research library systems in the United States, and its annual budget allocates $10 million for the procurement of digital and print material. It is a Federal Depository Library, California State Depository Library, and United Nations Depository Library.

Royce Hall is a building on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Designed by the Los Angeles firm of Allison & Allison (James Edward Allison, 1870–1955, and his brother David Clark Allison, 1881–1962) and completed in 1929, it is one of the four original buildings on UCLA's Westwood campus and has come to be the defining image of the university. The brick and tile building is in the Lombard Romanesque style, and once functioned as the main classroom facility of the university and symbolized its academic and cultural aspirations. Today, the twin-towered front remains the best known UCLA landmark. The 1800-seat auditorium was designed for speech acoustics and not for music; by 1982 it emerged from successive remodelings as a regionally important concert hall and main performing arts facility of the university. Named after Josiah Royce, a California-born philosopher who received his bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley in 1875, the building's exterior is composed of elements borrowed from numerous northern Italian sources. While very different in their composition and near-symmetry, the two towers of Royce make an abstract reference to those of the famous Abbey Church of Sant'Ambrogio in Milan. A building of very similar form on a much smaller scale was a centerpiece of the College of California campus in Oakland in 1860, the predecessor of the University of California.

The Fowler Museum at UCLA, commonly known as The Fowler, and formerly Museum of Cultural History and Fowler Museum of Cultural History, is a museum on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) which explores art and material culture primarily from Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and the Americas, past and present. The Fowler is generally home to three to six art exhibitions and also acts as a venue for lectures on cultural topics, musical performances, art workshops, family programs, festivals and more. The Fowler is located in the northern part of UCLA's Westwood Campus, adjacent to Royce Hall and Glorya Kaufman Hall. The museum is operated under the jurisdiction of UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture (UCLA Arts).

The Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) is an American mathematics institute funded by the National Science Foundation. The initial funding for the institute was approved in May 1999 and it was inaugurated in August, 2000.IPAM is located on the UCLA campus, in close proximity to UCLA's Department of Mathematics. The building currently housing the institute was designed in 1973 by world-renowned Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry.

The Men's Gym on the campus of UCLA, now known as the Student Activities Center, is a 2,000 seat multi-purpose building in Los Angeles. It opened in 1932. It was home to the UCLA Bruins men's basketball teams until Pauley Pavilion opened for the 1965–66 basketball season. It was informally known as the "B. O. barn." In 1955, the Los Angeles city Fire Marshal declared the building unsafe for a crowd of greater than 1,300. UCLA Basketball games then also were played at the Pan-Pacific Auditorium, the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena and other venues around Los Angeles. The building was also home to and continues to house the Departments of Military Science (Army ROTC - established in 1920 when UCLA was located at the Vermont Avenue campus and known as the Southern Branch of the University of California), Naval Science (Navy ROTC - added in 1938) and Aerospace Studies (Air Force ROTC - added in 1949). The building is located at the bottom of Janss steps across Bruin Walk from Ackerman Union and below Powell Library.

The UCLA Walter H. Rubsamen Music Library is one of nine branch libraries at the University of California, Los Angeles. It serves the Herb Alpert School of Music and is housed within the Schoenberg Music Building.

The UCLA Anderson School of Management is the graduate business school at the University of California, Los Angeles, one of eleven professional schools. The UCLA Collection of Meteorites is one of the largest meteorite collections in the United States. The collection of meteorites began in 1934 when William Andrews Clark, Jr. donated a 357 lb (162 kg) fragment of the Canyon Diablo meteorite, now known as the Clark Iron. Over time, the collection grew to include over 2400 samples from about 1500 different meteorites. They have forty mostly complete meteorites. A museum exhibiting 100 specimens from the larger collection opened to the public in 2013, with a grand opening in January 2014.

The UCLA School of Education and Information Studies (Ed&IS) is one of the academic and professional schools at the University of California, Los Angeles. Located in Los Angeles, California, the school combines two distinguished departments whose research and doctoral training programs are committed to expanding the range of knowledge in education, information science, and associated disciplines. Established in 1881, the school is the oldest unit at UCLA, having been founded as a normal school prior to the establishment of the university. It was incorporated into the University of California in 1919. The school offers a wide variety of doctoral and master's degrees, including the M.A., M.Ed., M.L.I.S., Ed.D., and Ph.D., as well as professional certificates and credentials in education and information studies. It also hosts visiting scholars and a number of research centers, institutes, and programs. Ed&IS recently initiated an undergraduate major in Education & Social Transformation in addition to the minor that it has offered in Education Studies.Both of its departments have consistently ranked highly among graduate schools of education and Master's of Library and Information Science by U.S. News & World Report in every year in which the magazine has published such rankings. U.S. News & World Report does not rank doctoral programs in information studies, but the information studies faculty consistently ranks among the most productive and highly cited faculty in its field, according to a standard quadrennial peer-reviewed study by professors within that field. Ed&IS faculty are members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Institute of Medicine, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the National Academy of Education.Admission to Ed&IS is highly selective, particularly admission to the departments' doctoral programs; between 60 and 70% of those admitted enroll. Roughly 150 doctoral students in education and 8 doctoral students in information studies are admitted to the school each year. Each class in the two-year MLIS and MA programs in information studies has approximately 80 students, while each class in the one-year M.Ed. and MA programs in education has approximately 250 students. The name of the department was changed to UCLA School of Education and Information Studies (Ed&IS) in 2020 to reflect its expanding mission to serve undergraduates as well as graduate students.

Wallis Annenberg Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium located on the campus of University of California, Los Angeles. The stadium is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's soccer programs, and replaced Drake Stadium as the home venue for the two programs. Construction on the stadium was funded with private donations, and began in the Fall of 2016. Ahead of the 2018 men's and women's seasons, the stadium opened. The stadium is named for Wallis Annenberg of the Annenberg Foundation.

The Charles E. Young Research Library is one of the largest libraries on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles in Westwood, Los Angeles, California. It initially opened in 1964, and a second phase of construction was completed in 1970. Interior renovations took place in 2009 and 2011. Located at the northern edge of the campus, the building was designed by A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Earl Emmons in the Mid-Century Modern style. Jones was the dean of USC's School of Architecture from 1951 to 1967. The building features a concrete skeleton, dark glass windows and deep floorplate.The upper floors of the library are meant primarily for faculty and graduate students who wish to conduct research. The library holds resources in the humanities, social sciences, education, public affairs, government information, journals, newspapers, and maps.

On June 1, 2016, two men were killed in a murder-suicide at a School of Engineering building on the campus of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The gunman was identified as Mainak Sarkar, an Indian-born 38-year-old former UCLA Ph.D student. The victim was William Scott Klug, an associate professor who was Sarkar's thesis adviser while Sarkar was a student at UCLA. A woman, later identified as Sarkar's estranged wife, was found dead in Minnesota during the subsequent investigation into the shooting, and is suspected to have been killed by Sarkar several days before the UCLA shooting.
