Westchester Medical Center University Hospital (WMC), formerly Grasslands Hospital, is an 895-bed Regional Trauma Center providing health services to residents of the Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey, and southern Connecticut. It is known for having one of the highest case mix index rates of all hospitals in the United States. 652 beds are at the hospital's primary location in Valhalla, while the other 243 beds are at the MidHudson Regional Hospital campus in Poughkeepsie. It is organized as Westchester County Health Care Corporation, and is a New York State public-benefit corporation.Westchester Medical Center is the primary academic medical center and University Hospital of New York Medical College. Many of New York Medical College's faculty provide patient care, teach, and conduct research at the adjacent campus. Westchester Medical Center provides diverse specialty services to patients of all ages, and hosts one of the leading Kidney and Liver transplant programs in New York, and is home to Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, the only all-specialty children's hospital in the region.

Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), is the advanced care pediatric hospital for New York's Hudson Valley region and Fairfield County, Connecticut. Maria Fareri Children's Hospital is part of the Valhalla, NY campus of WMCHealth along with Westchester Medical Center and the Behavioral Health Center. It is home to hundreds of clinical and surgical pediatric specialists in almost every medical field. The hospital treats about 20,000 patients each year. The hospital cares for infants, children, teens, and young adults age 0-21 throughout upstate New York.As part of Westchester Medical Center Health Network, an academic health affiliate of New York Medical College, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital is also a major teaching facility.

The Catskill-Delaware Water Ultraviolet Disinfection Facility is a 160,000-square-foot (15,000 m2) ultraviolet (UV) water disinfection plant built in Westchester County, New York to disinfect water for the New York City water supply system. The compound is the largest ultraviolet germicidal irradiation plant in the world.The UV facility treats water delivered by two of the city's aqueduct systems, the Catskill Aqueduct and the Delaware Aqueduct, via the Kensico Reservoir. (The city's third supply system, the New Croton Aqueduct, has a separate treatment plant.) The plant has 56 energy-efficient UV reactors, and cost the city $1.6 billion. Mayor Michael Bloomberg created research groups between 2004-2006 to decide the best and most cost-effective ways to modernize the city's water filtration process, as a secondary stage following the existing chlorination and fluoridation facilities. The UV technology effectively controls microorganisms such as giardia and cryptosporidium which are resistant to chlorine treatment. The city staff determined that the cheapest alternatives to a UV system would cost over $3 billion. In response to this finding, Bloomberg decided to set up a public competitive contract auction. Ontario based Trojan Technologies won the contract.The facility treats 2.2 billion U.S. gallons (8.3 billion liters) of water per day. The new facility was originally set to be in operation by the end of 2012. The facility opened on October 8, 2013.

Touro College of Dental Medicine is a school of dentistry in Valhalla, New York on the New York Medical College campus. The school is a division of the Touro College and University System. The school is the fifth dental school in New York State and is the third private dental school in New York, along with NYU and Columbia.

The Hammond House is located on Grasslands Road (New York State Route 100C) in the Eastview section of the town of Mount Pleasant, New York, United States. It is a wooden building whose oldest part dates to the 1720s, with latter additions during the 19th century. In 1980 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.It is one of the oldest houses in Westchester County, and one of only two remaining tenant houses from the Philipsburg Manor. It also has a rich Revolutionary War history. Col. James Hammond, son of the original owner, commanded the Patriot Westchester Militia. Some historical evidence supports a legend that George Washington visited the house for a brief conference with Hammond in 1780, leaving just before the house was surrounded by Loyalists.During the war the Hammond family bought the land; they held on to it until the 1920s, when New York City acquired the property to protect its watershed. It was planning to demolish the structure, when the county historical society bought the deteriorating house and restored it for use as a historic house museum. It remained open in that capacity for another half-century. When the society shifted its focus to primarily serving as an archive, it sold it to New York Medical College, which used as a medical research laboratory for a decade. It was again saved from potential demolition by two brothers who bought it in the 1990s. They have been restoring it.

WXPK (107.1 MHz), branded as 107.1 The Peak, is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Briarcliff Manor, New York, and serving the northern suburbs of the New York metropolitan area. It is owned by Pamal Broadcasting and broadcasts an Adult Album Alternative (AAA) radio format. The radio studios are in White Plains and the transmitter tower is off the Sprain Brook Parkway at the Westchester County Correctional Facility in Valhalla.

Blythedale Children's Hospital is a specialty children's hospital in Valhalla, New York, United States. It is the only independent children's hospital in New York State. The hospital is dedicated to the diagnosis, care and rehabilitation of children with complex medical and rehabilitative needs. The hospital opened a new, 56,000 square-foot inpatient hospital in December 2011. The new inpatient facility accommodates 94 patients in single or double rooms and includes a 46-bed Infant & Toddler and Post Neonatal/Post-Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for medically fragile patients, many of whom require weaning from mechanical ventilation. The new building also includes a 30-bed Pediatric & Adolescent Unit, and a (expanded, 2021) 18-bed Traumatic Brain Injury Unit.The hospital also has its own on-site public school district, the Mount Pleasant Blythedale Union Free School District.

Captain Lawrence Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Elmsford, New York. The brewery is owned and run by head brewer Scott Vaccaro. Vaccaro, a homebrewer since 1995, trained in brewing science at UC Davis.Many of Captain Lawrence's beers are strongly influenced by traditional Belgian ale styles, although often with an American twist. Barrel-aging and ales with sourness or flavors contributed by bacteria and wild yeasts such as Brettanomyces, are also part of their repertoire. Like many small breweries, Captain Lawrence seeks to be environmentally sensitive, including donating its spent grain to a local farmer for use as cattle feed.Their beers are fermented in stainless steel cylindro-conical vessels. The brewery takes its name from Captain Lawrence Drive in South Salem, New York, the road on which Vaccaro's childhood home is located. The street is named after Samuel Lawrence (1733–1796), a captain in the Westchester County Militia, 3rd Regiment, during the American Revolution.

Gate of Heaven Cemetery, approximately 25 miles (40 km) north of New York City, was established in 1917 at 10 West Stevens Ave. in Hawthorne, Westchester County, New York, as a Roman Catholic burial site. Among its famous residents is baseball player Babe Ruth, whose grave has an epitaph by Cardinal Francis Spellman and is almost always adorned by many baseballs, bats and caps. Adjacent to the Garden Mausoleum is a small train station of the Metro-North Railroad Harlem Division named Mount Pleasant, where four trains stop daily, two northbound and two southbound. Several baseball players are buried here.

The North County Trailway is a 22.1-mile (35.6 km) long paved rail trail stretching from Eastview to Baldwin Place in Westchester County, New York. It is also part of the statewide Empire State Trail.

Eastview (or East View) is a business district and former hamlet in Mount Pleasant, Westchester County, New York, United states, located approximately 25 miles north of Midtown Manhattan. It was primarily residential, and had a post office, railroad station, and school. In the late 1920s, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. purchased most of the hamlet's property and razed the buildings. The Hammond House, a National Register of Historic Places-listed farmhouse dating to the 1720s, is located in the district, on New York State Route 100C. Currently, dozens of commercial buildings have been developed in the area. The community is now most prominently known as the global headquarters for Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, which moved into a newly constructed campus in 2014.

Mount Pleasant station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Harlem Line, located in Mount Pleasant, New York. It serves two adjacent cemeteries, Gate of Heaven and Kensico, the latter of which had its own station until the mid-1980s. There is one train in each direction on weekdays and three trains in each direction on weekends. The station exists largely for visitors of those buried in the cemetery, in turn there is no parking available at the station and it is not intended as a commuter station. The station is located in the Zone 5 Metro-North fare zone. On February 3, 2015, the Valhalla train crash occurred south of the station, in which a Metro-North train crashed into a Mercedes-Benz SUV at Commerce Street near the Taconic State Parkway. The crash caused 6 deaths and at least 15 injuries, including 7 serious injuries.The station is the least used station on Metro-North, with only 13 passengers per week in 2018.
