The Hammond House is located on Grasslands Road (New York State Route 100C) in the Eastview section of the town of Mount Pleasant, New York, United States. It is a wooden building whose oldest part dates to the 1720s, with latter additions during the 19th century. In 1980 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.It is one of the oldest houses in Westchester County, and one of only two remaining tenant houses from the Philipsburg Manor. It also has a rich Revolutionary War history. Col. James Hammond, son of the original owner, commanded the Patriot Westchester Militia. Some historical evidence supports a legend that George Washington visited the house for a brief conference with Hammond in 1780, leaving just before the house was surrounded by Loyalists.During the war the Hammond family bought the land; they held on to it until the 1920s, when New York City acquired the property to protect its watershed. It was planning to demolish the structure, when the county historical society bought the deteriorating house and restored it for use as a historic house museum. It remained open in that capacity for another half-century. When the society shifted its focus to primarily serving as an archive, it sold it to New York Medical College, which used as a medical research laboratory for a decade. It was again saved from potential demolition by two brothers who bought it in the 1990s. They have been restoring it.

WXPK (107.1 MHz), branded as 107.1 The Peak, is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Briarcliff Manor, New York, and serving the northern suburbs of the New York metropolitan area. It is owned by Pamal Broadcasting and broadcasts an Adult Album Alternative (AAA) radio format. The radio studios are in White Plains and the transmitter tower is off the Sprain Brook Parkway at the Westchester County Correctional Facility in Valhalla.

The South County Trailway is a 14.1-mile (22.7 km) long rail trail stretching from the Putnam Trail in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx to the North County Trailway in East View, New York. Westchester County Parks constructed the trailway in segments beginning in 1990 and completed it on October 31, 2017.The South County Trailway was constructed mostly along the main line of the former New York and Putnam Railroad railbed in Westchester County, New York (also known as "Westchester"). In East View it connects to the North County Trailway. Much of the trail is in the Saw Mill River floodplain, although the southern portion runs along Tibbetts Brook. The Putnam Division provided freight and passenger service from 1881 to 1958 between the Bronx and Putnam County, with freight service lasting until 1962. The railroad served 23 stations in Westchester. Historic marker plaques have been placed at most of the former stations.The Trailway has become a bicycle commuter route for Westchester residents traveling to jobs in business centers in Elmsford, Getty Square in Yonkers, the Bronx, and Manhattan. The Trailway is not illuminated at night or plowed in winter, making its use difficult but not impossible. Despite initial opposition, it has become one of Westchester's most popular parks. A 2016 housing development called "The Lofts on Saw Mill River" in Hastings-on-Hudson included a pedestrian bridge over the Saw Mill River connecting it to the trailway. Westchester County Parks embarked on construction projects in 2015 and 2017 to close gaps in the trailway. and again in August 2017.The South County Trailway is also a section of the Empire State Trail, a route that leads north from New York City to Albany and thence either to the Canadian border or to Buffalo. The state trail officially opened at the end of 2020.A controversy developed in 2013 with the announcement that Westchester County planned to put sponsorship signage along the trail. This plan was canceled shortly after the announcement, after opposition arose.

The Catskill-Delaware Water Ultraviolet Disinfection Facility is a 160,000-square-foot (15,000 m2) ultraviolet (UV) water disinfection plant built in Westchester County, New York to disinfect water for the New York City water supply system. The compound is the largest ultraviolet germicidal irradiation plant in the world.The UV facility treats water delivered by two of the city's aqueduct systems, the Catskill Aqueduct and the Delaware Aqueduct, via the Kensico Reservoir. (The city's third supply system, the New Croton Aqueduct, has a separate treatment plant.) The plant has 56 energy-efficient UV reactors, and cost the city $1.6 billion. Mayor Michael Bloomberg created research groups between 2004-2006 to decide the best and most cost-effective ways to modernize the city's water filtration process, as a secondary stage following the existing chlorination and fluoridation facilities. The UV technology effectively controls microorganisms such as giardia and cryptosporidium which are resistant to chlorine treatment. The city staff determined that the cheapest alternatives to a UV system would cost over $3 billion. In response to this finding, Bloomberg decided to set up a public competitive contract auction. Ontario based Trojan Technologies won the contract.The facility treats 2.2 billion U.S. gallons (8.3 billion liters) of water per day. The new facility was originally set to be in operation by the end of 2012. The facility opened on October 8, 2013.

The North County Trailway is a 22.1-mile (35.6 km) long paved rail trail stretching from Eastview to Baldwin Place in Westchester County, New York. It is also part of the statewide Empire State Trail.

Blythedale Children's Hospital is a specialty children's hospital in Valhalla, New York, United States. It is the only independent children's hospital in New York State. The hospital is dedicated to the diagnosis, care and rehabilitation of children with complex medical and rehabilitative needs. The hospital opened a new, 56,000 square-foot inpatient hospital in December 2011. The new inpatient facility accommodates 94 patients in single or double rooms and includes a 46-bed Infant & Toddler and Post Neonatal/Post-Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for medically fragile patients, many of whom require weaning from mechanical ventilation. The new building also includes a 30-bed Pediatric & Adolescent Unit, and a (expanded, 2021) 18-bed Traumatic Brain Injury Unit.The hospital also has its own on-site public school district, the Mount Pleasant Blythedale Union Free School District.

New York Medical College (NYMC or New York Med) is a private biomedical health sciences university based in Valhalla, New York. Founded in 1860, it is a member of the Touro College and University System. NYMC offers advanced degrees through its three schools: the School of Medicine (SOM), the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences (GSBMS) and the School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP). Total enrollment is 1,660 students (including 774 medical students) in addition to 800 residents and clinical fellows. NYMC employs 1,350 full-time faculty members and 1,450 part-time and voluntary faculty. Touro College of Dental Medicine is a school of dentistry in Valhalla, New York on the New York Medical College campus. The school is a division of the Touro College and University System. The school is the fifth dental school in New York State and is the third private dental school in New York, along with NYU and Columbia.

Elmsford is a village in Westchester County, New York, United States. It is part of the New York metropolitan area. Roughly one mile square, the village is fully contained within the borders of the town of Greenburgh. As of the 2010 census, the population of Elmsford was 4,664.

Elmsford Reformed Church and Cemetery is a historic Dutch Reformed church/meeting house and cemetery at 30 S. Central Avenue in Elmsford, Westchester County, New York, United States. It was built in 1793 and is a two-story, wood-frame building. It is constructed of hand-hewn beams, shingles, and hand-wrought nails. Most of the ornamentation in the church dates to the 1820s. It is almost identical to nearby Old St. Peter's Church. The cemetery dates to the 18th century and includes the graves of a number of Revolutionary War veterans including Isaac Van Wart (1762 - 1828). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Westchester Medical Center University Hospital (WMC), formerly Grasslands Hospital, is an 895-bed Regional Trauma Center providing health services to residents of the Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey, and southern Connecticut. It is known for having one of the highest case mix index rates of all hospitals in the United States. 652 beds are at the hospital's primary location in Valhalla, while the other 243 beds are at the MidHudson Regional Hospital campus in Poughkeepsie. It is organized as Westchester County Health Care Corporation, and is a New York State public-benefit corporation.Westchester Medical Center is the primary academic medical center and University Hospital of New York Medical College. Many of New York Medical College's faculty provide patient care, teach, and conduct research at the adjacent campus. Westchester Medical Center provides diverse specialty services to patients of all ages, and hosts one of the leading Kidney and Liver transplant programs in New York, and is home to Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, the only all-specialty children's hospital in the region.

Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), is the advanced care pediatric hospital for New York's Hudson Valley region and Fairfield County, Connecticut. Maria Fareri Children's Hospital is part of the Valhalla, NY campus of WMCHealth along with Westchester Medical Center and the Behavioral Health Center. It is home to hundreds of clinical and surgical pediatric specialists in almost every medical field. The hospital treats about 20,000 patients each year. The hospital cares for infants, children, teens, and young adults age 0-21 throughout upstate New York.As part of Westchester Medical Center Health Network, an academic health affiliate of New York Medical College, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital is also a major teaching facility.
