Lordship (Irish: An Tiarnas) is a rural area and census town in County Louth, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of Ballymascanlan. The local Roman Catholic church, the Church of St Mary, was built c. 1860 and is in the parish of Lordship & Ballymascanlon of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Armagh. The local Gaelic Athletic Association club is St Patrick's. Founded in 1953, the club has won the Louth Senior Football Championship on several occasions.Lordship was designated as a census town by the Central Statistics Office for the first time in the 2016 census, at which time it had a population of 486 people.

Rockmarshall Court Tomb is a court cairn and National Monument located on the Cooley Peninsula, Ireland.

Giles Quay Lifeboat Station is a former Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station, located in the village of Gyles' Quay, on the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth, Ireland. It is one of two stations, the other being at Blackrock, that have been home to the Dundalk lifeboat, which was first stationed here by the RNLI in 1879. The Giles Quay Lifeboat Station was closed in 1912.

Gyles' Quay is an isolated stretch of beach located 1 km south of the R173/R175 road on the Cooley Peninsula in the north of County Louth in Ireland. It was named after Ross Gyles who built a wood structure there in 1780. It was later rebuilt in stone in 1824 and survives to this day. The long isolated beach with accessible hinterland made it very attractive to smugglers who used the beach for importing wine and tobacco. In 1823 the authorities constructed a coastguard watch station to limit the illegal imports. Today tourists are drawn to the area for the long beach expanse and the caravan park located overlooking the area.

Jenkinstown (Irish: Baile Sheinicín) is a village and townland in the Municipal District of Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland on the Cooley Peninsula. The population is concentrated in the south of the area in the townlands of Annaloughan, Rampark, Loughanmore, and Piedmont, with some buildings in the eastern townlands Killin, Slievenaglogh, Ballygoley, Aghameen, Mullaghattin, and Spellickanee. In the centre and the west, namely in the eponymous townland of Jenkinstown, in Rockmarshall and in Moneycrockroe there are very few buildings. Neighbouring villages are Ballymascanlan in the west, Ravensdale in the north, and Rathcor in the north and east. The area of Jenkinstown is bounded by the mountains of Glenmore to the north and Dundalk Bay to the south. The Little River, a tributary of Castletown River, forms the northeastern boundary. Notable elevations within the village area are the Round Mountain near its western boundary, Annaloughan Mountain, and Slievenalogh. The main road is R173, which is joined by R174 in Rockmarshall townland. The abandoned Dundalk, Newry and Greenore Branch of the LNWR passed through Jenkinstown. Jenkinstown Crossroads is at the centre of the village, where one can go north up to the Long Womans Grave and the Magic Hill, or south past Jenkinstown Church. Also nearby is Fitzpatrick's Bar and Restaurant, which was included in the Michelin Eating Out Guide 2010.

Cooley Distillery is an Irish whiskey distillery on the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth, Ireland established in 1987 and owned by Suntory Global Spirits, a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings of Osaka, Japan. The distillery was converted in 1987 from an older potato alcohol plant by entrepreneur John Teeling. On 16 December 2011 Beam Inc. announced plans to purchase Cooley for around US$95 million (€71 million); the deal closed a month later, and the distillery now belongs to Suntory Global Spirits, since Suntory bought Beam in 2014.

The Cooley Peninsula (from Irish Cuaille, older Cúalṅge) is a hilly peninsula in the north of County Louth on the east coast of Ireland; the peninsula includes the small town of Carlingford, the port of Greenore and the village of Omeath.

The Castletown River (Irish: Abhainn Bhaile an Chaisleáin) is a river which flows through the town of Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland. It rises near Newtownhamilton, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, and is known as the Creggan River in its upper reaches. Its two main tributaries are the Kilcurry and Falmore rivers and it enters the Irish Sea at Dundalk Bay.

Dundalk Bay (Irish: Cuan Dhún Dealgan) is a large (33 km2), exposed estuary on the east coast of Ireland. The inner bay is shallow, sandy and intertidal, though it slopes into a deeper area 2 km from the transitional water boundary. It is predominantly influenced by the sea, though several rivers drain into the bay from the west. In the northwest corner of the bay, the Castletown River cuts through the intertidal zone and the smaller River Fane flows into the southeast corner. While the shores of the bay are largely made up of intertidal flats, there is a significant area of salt marsh on the western shore. The catchment around the bay is of mixed agriculture and urban land use.

The Cooley Mountains (Irish: Sléibhte Cuaille) are on the Cooley Peninsula in northeast County Louth in Ireland. They consist of two ridges running northwest to southeast, separated by the valley of Glenmore with the Big River running through it. Slieve Foy, at 589 metres (1,932 ft), is the highest peak of the range and the highest in County Louth. It is on the eastern ridge, which is about 6 km (3.7 mi) long and also includes the peaks of The Eagles Rock (528m), The Ravens Rock (457m), The Foxes Rock (404m), and Barnavave (350m). This latter name comes from Bearna Mhéabha (Maeve's Gap), and refers to the legendary Queen Medb (Maeve), whose army is said to have dug a pass through the mountain.The western ridge is made up of Clermont Carn (510 m), Carnavaddy (475m) and Slievenaglogh (310m). The mountains are the mythical home of hurling as told in the Táin Bó Cúailnge (Cattle Raid of Cooley), when Sétanta traveled through the mountains hitting his sliothar (ball) before him on his way to Emain Macha. This feat is re-enacted every year in the All-Ireland Poc Fada Championship which takes place on Annaverna Mountain.

Adrian Donohoe (14 January 1972 – 25 January 2013) was an Irish detective in the Garda Síochána (Irish police) based at Dundalk Garda Station in County Louth, who was fatally shot in Bellurgan (near Jenkinstown, County Louth) on 25 January 2013 during a robbery by an armed gang of five people on a credit union. He was the first garda officer to be murdered in the line of duty since 1996, and was afforded a full state funeral. On 4 March 2018 at Dundalk District Court, 27-year-old Aaron Brady from New Road, Crossmaglen, County Armagh, was charged with Donohoe's murder and plead not guilty. Brady's trial began at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin on 28 January 2020. On 12 August 2020, 29-year-old Aaron Brady was found guilty of the capital murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe and was sentenced to the mandatory term of 40 years imprisonment. Brady was also sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for robbery at Lordship Credit Union. In July 2021, 33-year-old Brendan Treanor from Dundalk was charged with the armed robbery of the Lordship credit union on the night Donohoe was murdered. Also in July 2021, James Patrick Gerard Flynn or "Jimmy Flynn", 30, originally from South Armagh was arrested by National Crime Agency officers in London on foot of a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by Gardai, after the Director of Public Prosecutions approved charging Flynn with armed robbery of the credit union on the night Donohoe was murdered. It is reported Flynn had spent time in Boston after Donohoe's murder and was described as convicted murderer Aaron Brady's "best friend". Jimmy Flynn and Brendan Treanor went on trial in the Special Criminal Court in February 2023, charged with the robbery of the credit union in Lordship and also with conspiracy to enter residential premises with the intention of stealing car keys. Legal proceedings ended in May 2023 after 55 days of legal argument, with verdicts due to be delivered in September 2023. On 11 September 2023, James Flynn was found guilty of breaking into a house and stealing the keys of a car which was later used in the robbery of Lordship Credit Union and the capital murder of Adrian Donohoe. Flynn was found not guilty of the additional charge of robbery of €7,000 at the Credit Union. Brendan Treanor was found not guilty of both charges, however judge Mr Justice Hunt stated there was "clear evidence that establishes that Treanor is a member of a criminal gang along with others and was involved before during and after the robbery", but that charges of membership of a criminal gang had not been brought before the court. Flynn was remanded in custody for sentencing in November 2023.

Slieve Foy or Slieve Foye (Irish: Sliabh Feá) is a mountain on the Cooley Peninsula in Louth, Ireland. It rises to 589 metres (1,932 ft), making it the highest of the Cooley Mountains and the highest in Louth. It overlooks Carlingford Lough and the village of Carlingford, and is sometimes called Carlingford Mountain.
