Archives Plaza is a side platformed Sacramento RT Light Rail station in Downtown Sacramento, California, United States. The station was opened on September 5, 1987, and is operated by the Sacramento Regional Transit District. It is served by all three light rail lines: Gold, Blue and Green Lines. The station is located at O and 11th Streets (just one block south of the Capitol building). A variety of government buildings surround the station.

The California Hall of Fame honors individuals and families who embody California's innovative spirit and have made their mark on history. The hall and its exhibits are housed in The California Museum in Sacramento. The hall of fame was conceived by then–California First Lady Maria Shriver, who asked her friend artist Robert Graham to design and fabricate the award. Graham was inducted in 2008, the same award is being given today. It opened in 2006 with 13 charter enshrinees. Among the requirements, all inductees must have been a resident of California for at least five years. Furthermore, through their work and accomplishments, they should embody the spirit of California and the California Dream while also making a lasting, significant contribution to the state, nation and the world; and have inspired others to further their own dreams.

The California Museum is the state history museum of California, located in its capital city of Sacramento. It is dedicated to Californian history and the stories of California. The museum is home to the California Hall of Fame and has more than 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2) of exhibits, event facilities, and museological archives.

The Blue Anchor Building (also known as the California Fruit Exchange) is a historic building located in Sacramento, California.

The California Transportation Commission (CTC) is an independent government transportation commission established in 1978. The CTC replaced and assumed the responsibilities of four prior independent agencies, the California Highway Commission, the State Transportation Board, the State Aeronautics Board, and the California Toll Bridge Authority. The CTC is headquartered in Sacramento. The CTC consists of 11 voting commissioners and two non-voting ex officio members. Of the 11 voting commissioners, nine are appointed by the Governor, one is appointed by the Senate Rules Committee, and one is appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly. As of August 2017, the chair is Bob Alvarado and the vice chair is Fran Inman. Other commissioners include Yvonne B. Burke, Lucetta Dunn, James Earp, James C. Ghielmetti, Carl Guardino, Christine Kehoe, James Madaffer, Joseph Tavaglione, and Paul Van Konynenburg. The two ex officio non-voting members are appointed from the State Senate and State Assembly. The current ex officio members are Senator Jim Beall and Assembly Member Jim Frazier. The executive director is Susan Bransen.The CTC mission statement, adopted May 19, 2010, is as follows: The California Transportation Commission is an independent public agency dedicated to ensuring a safe, financially sustainable, world-class multimodal transportation system that reduces congestion, improves the environment, and facilitates economic development through the efficient movement of people and goods. The CTC is responsible for many aspects of transportation planning, funding, and management. The primary responsibilities of the CTC include: Programs and allocates federal and state funds for the construction of highway, passenger rail, transit, bicycle, pedestrian, aeronautics, and environmental enhancement mitigation improvements throughout California. Adopts estimates of funding expected to be available for various transportation programs. Adopts guidelines for the development of CTC administered programs as well as state and regional transportation plans. Advises and assists the California State Transportation Agency and the Legislature in formulating and evaluating state policies and plans for transportation issues in California. Actively participates in the initiation and development of state and federal legislation in matters concerning transportation issues in California.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is an executive department of the U.S. state of California. The department is part of the cabinet-level California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA). Caltrans is headquartered in Sacramento.Caltrans manages the state's highway system, which includes the California Freeway and Expressway System, supports public transportation systems throughout the state and provides funding and oversight for three state-supported Amtrak intercity rail routes (Capitol Corridor, Pacific Surfliner and San Joaquins) which are collectively branded as Amtrak California. In 2015, Caltrans released a new mission statement: "Provide a safe, sustainable, integrated and efficient transportation system to enhance California’s economy and livability."

The California State Library is the state library of the State of California, founded in 1850 by the California State Legislature. The Library collects, preserves, generates and disseminates a wide array of information. Today, it is the central reference and research library for state government and the Legislature. The California State Library advises, consults with and provides technical assistance to California's public libraries. It directs state and federal funds to support local public libraries and statewide library programs, including Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grants. The California State Library's mission is to serve as "...the state’s information hub, preserving California’s cultural heritage and connecting people, libraries and government to the resources and tools they need to succeed and to build a strong California." With the exception of the Sutro Library in the J. Paul Leonard Library at San Francisco State University, the other three branches are located in Sacramento, California, at 914 Capitol Mall, 900 N Street and at the State Capitol.

The California Capitol Christmas Tree (known as the California Capitol Holiday Tree between 1999 and 2003) is an annually erected decorated tree outside the California State Capitol in Sacramento, California, United States. Initiated in 1931, the tree has been a tradition ever since and is decorated during the second week of December each year. In December 1999, during his first Christmas season in office, Governor Gray Davis changed the name of the tree to the California Capitol Holiday Tree, a spokesperson describing this as a name that "more accurately symbolizes the diversity of what the holidays are in California". After the 2003 California recall, Gray Davis was replaced with Arnold Schwarzenegger, who changed the name back from the Christmas of 2004. A similar occurrence took place with the Capitol Christmas Tree in Washington, DC, which took on the "holiday" generic name from 1999–2005.

Plaza de California is a public plaza in Sacramento, the capital city of California, located between the California State Capitol and the Capitol Mall. Owing to its prominent location in California's capital city, the plaza is often utilized for public demonstrations or official state occasions, such as the inauguration ceremony of the Governor of California.

The California State Senate is the upper house of the California State Legislature, the lower house being the California State Assembly. The State Senate convenes, along with the State Assembly, at the California State Capitol in Sacramento. Due to a combination of the state's large population and a legislature that has not been expanded since the ratification of the 1879 Constitution, the State Senate has the largest population per state senator ratio of any state legislative house. In the United States House of Representatives, California is apportioned 53 U.S. representatives, each representing approximately 704,566 people, while in the California State Senate, each of the 40 state senators represents approximately 931,349 people. This means that California state senators each represent more people than California's members of the House of Representatives. In the current legislative session, the Democratic Party holds 32 out of the 40 seats, which constitutes a 80% majority, well over the two-thirds supermajority threshold.

The California State Capitol is the seat of the California state government, located in Sacramento, the state capital of California. The building houses the chambers of the California State Legislature, made up of the Assembly and the Senate, along with the office of the governor of California. The Neoclassical structure, designed by Reuben S. Clark, was completed between 1861 and 1874. Located at the west end of Capitol Park and the east end of the Capitol Mall, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The California State Capitol Museum is housed on the grounds of the capitol.

The California State Assembly is the lower house of the California State Legislature, the upper house being the California State Senate. The Assembly convenes, along with the State Senate, at the California State Capitol in Sacramento. The Assembly consists of 80 members, with each member representing at least 465,000 people. Due to a combination of the state's large population and a legislature that has not been expanded since the ratification of the 1879 Constitution, the Assembly has the largest population-per-representative ratio of any state lower house and second largest of any legislative lower house in the United States after the federal House of Representatives. Members of the California State Assembly are generally referred to using the titles Assemblyman (for men), Assemblywoman (for women), or Assemblymember (gender-neutral). In the current legislative session, Democrats enjoy a three-fourths supermajority of 62 seats, while Republicans control a minority of 18 seats.
