West Houston Airport (IATA: IWS, ICAO: KIWS, FAA LID: IWS) is a privately owned, public use airport in Harris County, Texas, 15 miles west of Downtown Houston in the Greater Katy area. It opened in 1962 and was known as Lakeside Airport until the early 1980s due to its location near the edge of Addicks reservoir. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a general aviation reliever airport. Houston Air Route Traffic Control Center in Houston is the airport's designated ARTCC.

Mayde Creek High School (MCHS) is a public high school located on Groschke Road in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, and is part of the Katy Independent School District. Mayde Creek serves the portions of the city of Houston located in Katy ISD, including Addicks. Mayde Creek also serves many unincorporated communities in Harris County. The school opened in 1984. When the school opened it had only two grades, eighth and ninth. By the 1986-1987 academic year it held 9th, 10th and 11th graders; the first class of students graduated in 1988. The school building is divided into two sections, the smaller of which serves as the "Ninth Grade Center". There is a Performing Arts Center and a Natatorium. Unusual architectural features of the Mayde Creek High School campus include an open floor-plan cafeteria, a wall, and many glass bricks.

Houston Methodist West Hospital, located in west Houston, Texas, is one of seven community hospitals that are part of Houston Methodist. It employs about 1,500 people, has an estimated 800 affiliated doctors and admits roughly 12,000 patients annually. The hospital serves the Katy community.

Barker is an unincorporated community in western Harris County, Texas, United States. It lies along local roads off Interstate 10 and is seventeen miles west of downtown Houston. Its elevation is 102 feet (31 m), and it is located at 29°47′4″N 95°41′6″W (29.7843955, -95.6849469).Barker was originally built along the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad, which built through the area in 1895; the community was named for Ed Barker, a railroad contractor. The community's first postmaster was appointed in 1898. Although Barker was originally an agricultural community, the area is now primarily residential.

Bear Creek Pioneers Park is a 2,154-acre (8.72 km2) park located in the U.S. city of Houston, Texas, at 3535 War Memorial Drive. It is sometimes called "Harris County Bear Creek Park", or simply "Bear Creek Park."

Addicks is an area of Houston that was formerly its own community. Addicks, a railroad stop for the Bear Creek community, was named after its original postmaster, Henry Addicks, in 1884. The original town site was located just south of the intersection of Patterson Road and Highway 6. The Addicks Bear Creek Cemetery contains the graves of many of the original German settlers. The town and surrounding community were destroyed by the Hurricane of 1900 but were quickly rebuilt. By 1947 the community was forced to move several miles south near the current intersection of I-10 and Highway 6 since the old location became the site for the Addicks Reservoir. Many of the old buildings can still be found. The Addicks Bear Creek Methodist Church, founded in 1879, is a historical building and can be found on the east side of Highway 6 near Addicks Dam. The church is now known as Addicks United Methodist Church [1]. Other old buildings located near the southeast corner of I-10 and Highway 6, make up a trendy area of shops, antique stores, and restaurants. The City of Houston annexed the Addicks-Barker Reservoir area in 1972.

Langham Creek High School is a high school located in an unincorporated area in Harris County, Texas, United States, near Houston. Langham Creek, which was established in 1984, is part of the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District. Several communities, including Concord Bridge, Westgate, Northglen, Copper Lakes, and parts of the Copperfield subdivision, are zoned to the school.The mascot is the "lobo", Spanish for "wolf", and the school's motto is "The Power of the Pack is the Lobo. The Power of the Lobo is the Pack." The mascot may have been selected as an homage to the red wolves that were hunted for bounty in the area during the 1950s and 1960s. Carcasses of the wolves were strung along the fences at the nearby intersection of FM 529 and State Highway 6, which became known as Wolf Corner.

Barker Reservoir is a flood control structure in Houston, Texas which prevents downstream flooding of Buffalo Bayou, the city's principal river. The reservoir operates in conjunction with Addicks Reservoir to the northeast, which impounds Mayde and Bear Creeks, two tributaries of the Buffalo. Both reservoirs were authorized under the Rivers and Harbors Act of June 20, 1938, which were modified by the Flood Control Acts of August 11, 1938; September 3, 1954; and October 27, 1965. George Bush Park, operated by Harris County, is located entirely within the reservoir.Houston annexed the Addicks area in 1972.

The Addicks Reservoir and Addicks Dam in conjunction with the Barker Reservoir prevent downstream flooding of Buffalo Bayou in the City of Houston, Texas. Both reservoirs were authorized under the Rivers and Harbors Act of June 20, 1938, which was modified by the Flood Control Acts of August 11, 1938; September 3, 1954; and October 27, 1965. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed construction of Addicks Dam and the outlet facility in 1948.

Westlake Park is a 58-acre (23 ha) office complex located in the Energy Corridor, Houston, Texas, United States. The complex, located east of Texas State Highway 6 between Interstate 10 and Memorial Drive, consists of One Westlake Park, Two Westlake Park, and Three Westlake Park. Hines was the developer of the complex, and Skidmore, Owings and Merrill was the architect of the complex. The complex, with a net rentable area of 401,000 square feet (37,300 m2) and 3,635 square feet (337.7 m2) of retail space, has BP, KBC Advanced Technologies, Mariner Energy, and Oxy Permian as major tenants.

The British International School of Houston (BISH), formerly the British School of Houston (BSOH), is a non-sectarian, co-educational college preparatory day school in the Greater Katy region of the Houston area. BISH, which opened in September 2000, offers education for ages 3 to 18 (UK Nursery to Year 13/US Pre-K to Grade 12). The British International School of Houston is a part of Nord Anglia Education; previously it was operated by the British Schools of America. It moved to its current campus in fall 2016, and was previously in northwest Houston.

Briarhills is a subdivision in western Houston, Texas. The Briarhills Property Owners Association (POA) and the Briarhills Home Owners Association (HOA) serve Briarhills, Meadowbriar, and Oaks of Parkway.
