Bavelse

Until 1 January 2007 Suså was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in the former Storstrøm County in the southern part of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 145 km2, and had a total population of 8,529 (2005). Its last mayor was Poul Erik Sørensen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Glumsø. Suså municipality ceased to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Fladså, Fuglebjerg, Holmegaard, and Næstved municipalities to form the new Næstved municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 681 km2 and a total population of 78,446 (2005). The new municipality belongs to Region Sjælland ("Zealand Region").

Gunderslevholm is a manor house and estate located 12 km northwest of Næstved in southeastern Denmark. Gunderslevholm has been owned by members of the de Neergaard family since 1803. The main building is located on high ground just west of the Susaa river. It was originally a Baroque-style mansion built in 1729 for Carl Adolph von Plessen but was in 1787 adapted to the Neoclassical style. Gunderslevholm covers 2,020 hectares of land and 276 hectares of lake (2023).

Glumsø is a railway town, with a population of 2,114 (1.January 2023), located on the southern part of Zealand in Denmark. Until 1.January 2007 it was the seat of Suså Municipality. Glumsø Station is located in Glumsø, serving the Sydbanen line. The station was heavily redesigned in late 2009. Before being redesigned it used to serve German ICE trains on the Copenhagen-Hamburg line, although ICE trains now just pass through.

Næsbyholm is a manor house and estate located east of Tybjerg Lake, between Sorø and Glumsø, in Næstved Municipality, some 70 km (43 mi) southwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. Since 1610, Næsbyholm and Bavelse have had the same owners. The three-winged Dutch Renaissance-style main building was reconstructed after fires in 1932 and 1947, incorporating elements from 1585. It is now used as a venue for weddings, conferences and other events. The scenic park was laid out in the 18th century. The Næsbyholm-Bavelse estate covers 1,424 hectares (3,520 acres) of land (2012), of which approximately half is forest.

Harrestedgård, also known as Harrested Manor (Danish: Harrested Hovedgård), is a manor house and estate located 1+ kilometres northwest of Næstved, Denmark. The main building, which partly dates from the Middle Ages and partly from the 1840s, was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918.

Førslevgaard is a manor house and estate located close to Fuglebjerg, Næstved Municipality, approximately 90 kilometres southwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. It has since 1803 been owned by members of the de Neergaard family. The three-winged, Baroque-style main building was built for Carl Adolph von Plessen in 1726. It was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1827. Nearby Førslev Church belonged to Gørslevgaard from 1544 to 1914. A number of former owners from the influential Beck family, who owned the manor from 1495 to 1659, are buried in the church.

Næstved Municipality (Danish: Næstved Kommune is a kommune in the Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand in the south of Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Gavnø. It covers an area of 681 km², and has a total population of 84,574 (2023). Its mayor is Carsten Rasmussen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Næstved. On 1 January 2007, Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007) merged the Næstved municipality with existing Fladså, Fuglebjerg, Holmegaard, and Suså municipalities to form the new Næstved municipality, increasing the total population to more than 80,000.

Fuglebjerg is a town with a population of 2,266 (1 January 2023), in Næstved Municipality on Zealand in Region Sjælland in Denmark. Fuglebjerg was the municipal seat of the former Fuglebjerg Municipality, until 1 January 2007.

Saltø is a manor house and estate located 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) west of Næstved in southeastern Denmark. The estate was acquired by Carl Adolph von Plessen in 1725 and had been owned by the von Plessen family since then. The main building from the second half of the 16th century and two half-timbered buildings from the second half of the 18th century were listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918. The estate covers 1,050 hectares (10.5 km2).

The Sorø derailment of 25 April 1988 happened when an Intercity train IC104 from Fredericia, Jutland to Copenhagen jumped the rails 800 meters west of the entrance of the station of Sorø, resulting in eight deaths and 72 passengers injured.
