Dickson Works, also known as the Stacor Building, is a historic factory building located at 225 Vine Street in Scranton, Pennsylvania, a town in Lackawanna County. It was built about 1856, and is a long three-story, brick industrial building measuring 100 feet by 300 feet. It features a tower measuring 100 feet tall, a double pitched roof with clerestory windows, and shallow segmental arched windows. It once housed the Dickson Works, a shop to repair and manufacture mine machinery and boilers. The Stacor Equipment Company occupied the building in 1963, and manufactured library tables and furniture.In December 1977, Jerome Fink, then CEO of Pennsylvania Paper & Supply Co., purchased the Dickson works building at 225 Vine Street. It was submitted by Fink to the National Register of Historic Places in March of 1979 and entered into the register in May of the same year.The Dickson Manufacturing company built locomotives, stationary engines, and boilers. The company also provided materials to railways including gas pipes and fittings, steam and water fittings and engine furnishings.

Scranton High School is an urban high school located in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It is part of the Scranton School District. It enrolled 1,792 ninth through twelfth grade students in 2010. It is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.The school offers honors and advanced classes for motivated students. Regular classes are aimed at a wide range of students with different academic abilities. The school provides ESL (English as a Second Language) and development courses for students. The school is designated as a Title I school wide institution. The student population was Caucasian - 1,190, Hispanic - 263, African American - 184, Asian/Pacific Islander - 100 and Native American - 1. The student body included 857 females and 881 males in 2010.

The St. Patrick's Parade Day in Scranton or Parade Day is one of the largest Saint Patrick's Day parades in the United States. It is held in Scranton, Pennsylvania every year on the Saturday of the weekend before St. Patrick's Day - even if St Patrick's day falls on a Saturday or Sunday. For Example, in 2013, St. Patrick's Day was on a Sunday, and the Parade was held on the Saturday of the previous weekend - March 9. The date of the parade is commonly referred to as "Parade Day". Festivities begin with a mass at 10:00 am at St Peter's Cathedral. The mass is followed by a 2-mile footrace of the parade route at 11:00, an hour later the parade begins. Each year, thousands of people line the streets of downtown Scranton on Parade Day to take part in one of the city's greatest traditions. The city has hosted a St. Patrick's Day Parade since early in its history, with the current iteration being held annually since 1862. The Parade is sponsored and organized by the St. Patrick's Day Parade Association of Lackawanna County. Attendance for the 2008 parade, which featured appearances by Bertie Ahern, Hillary Clinton, and Andy Buckley of The Office, was estimated to be as high as 150,000 people. The parade usually involves about 12,000 participants, including bagpipers, Irish stepdancers, high school bands, local organizations and other Irish groups. The 2020 parade was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And 2021 was rescheduled to mid-September. Other cancellations were in 1917–18 & 1942–45.

The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple (formerly the Masonic Temple and Scottish Rite Cathedral) is a theatre and cultural center in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Cultural Center's mission statement is "to rejuvenate a national architectural structure as a regional center for arts, education and community activities appealing to all ages." The Cultural Center hosts national Broadway tours; professional and local musical and dramatic theatre offerings; local, regional and national orchestral and popular music, dance and opera; comedians, lecturers, art exhibits, a children's and performing arts academy and various classes as well as fundraiser galas and special events including proms, luncheons, private parties and is a popular wedding ceremony and reception venue. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Lackawanna College (Lackawanna or LC) is a private college in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It also has satellite centers in Hazleton, Hawley, Sunbury, Towanda, and Tunkhannock, and an Environmental Education Center in Covington Township.

Meadow Brook is a tributary of the Lackawanna River in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 2.0 miles (3.2 km) long and flows through Dunmore and Scranton. The watershed of the stream has an area of 2.43 square miles (6.3 km2), though it used to be considerably larger. It is designated as a Coldwater Fishery and a Migratory Fishery, but many reaches of the stream have been destroyed by mining or post-mining development impacts. The stream flows through a culvert system for much of its length. However, there are areas where it is in an open concrete channel or has a natural streambed. There are also patches of old-growth forest along the stream in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Meadow Brook has experienced significant flow loss and what flow it does have mainly consists of intermittent stormwater flows. There used to be springs, seeps, and wetlands at the stream's headwaters. However, a colliery (and later a landfill) was built over that area. The Dunmore Cemetery and the Forest Hill Cemetery are in the stream's vicinity. Meadow Brook is a first-order stream.

Florence Apartments is a historic apartment building located at Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1908, and is a six-story, U-shaped building with Colonial Revival style design details. It has a steel and concrete structure with exterior limestone on the first and second stories and brick above. The front facade features two three-story rectangular bays clad in pressed metal and the main entrance is surrounded by two Tuscan order columns supporting an entablature inscribed with the name "Florence." It was the first multi-story apartment building in Scranton.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Scranton Chamber of Commerce Building is a historic commercial building located at Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1926, and alterations were made around 1991. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Albright Memorial Library, also commonly referred to as the Scranton Public Library, is a historic public library located in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. The library is located on the corner of Vine Street and Washington Avenue. Since the library opened in May of 1893, it has served the city of Scranton and the surrounding areas by providing access to books, DVDs, computer services, and more.

The Finch Building is located on Wyoming Avenue, just north of US 11 and PA 307, in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania, United States. It is a stone building designed by William Scott-Collins in the Renaissance revival style and completed in 1899. It takes its name from the Finch Manufacturing Company, a maker of finished steel products such as manhole covers that had been based in the city for much of the later 19th century. Its first occupant was the International Correspondence School, a business that offered study-by-mail classes to the many coal miners in the Northeastern Pennsylvania region. The school, founded in 1894, had quickly outgrown its offices at the nearby Coal Exchange Building and needed the space. Later it was used as offices for the Hudson Coal Company.In 1976 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Today it has been remodeled into an apartment building called Finch Towers.

St. Peter's Cathedral is the Roman Catholic cathedral at 315 Wyoming Avenue in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Scranton. The entire St. Peter's Cathedral Complex is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSOM) is a private medical school associated with the Geisinger Health System in northeastern and north central Pennsylvania.
