The Ferdinand Backs House is a historic home in Anaheim, California. Ferdinand and Louise Backs, early residents in Anaheim, commissioned the construction of the home in 1902 and Edward Niehaus designed it in the Colonial Revival style.

Anaheim ( AN-ə-hyme) is a city in northern Orange County, California, part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States Census, the city had a population of 346,824, making it the most populous city in Orange County, the 10th-most populous city in California, and the 55th-most populous city in the United States. Anaheim is the second-largest city in Orange County in terms of land area, and is known for being the home of the Disneyland Resort, the Anaheim Convention Center, and two major sports teams: the Los Angeles Angels baseball team and the Anaheim Ducks ice hockey club. Anaheim was founded by fifty German families in 1857 and incorporated as the second city in Los Angeles County on March 18, 1876; Orange County was split off from Los Angeles County in 1889. Anaheim remained largely an agricultural community until Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955. This led to the construction of several hotels and motels around the area, and residential districts in Anaheim soon followed. The city also developed into an industrial center, producing electronics, aircraft parts and canned fruit. Anaheim is a charter city.Anaheim's city limits extend almost the full width of Orange County, from Cypress in the west, twenty miles east to the Riverside County line, encompassing a diverse range of neighborhoods. In the west, mid-20th-century tract houses predominate. Downtown Anaheim has three mixed-use historic districts, the largest of which is the Anaheim Colony. South of downtown, a center of commercial activity of regional importance begins, the Anaheim–Santa Ana edge city, which stretches east and south into the cities of Orange, Santa Ana and Garden Grove. This edge city includes the Disneyland Resort, with two theme parks, multiple hotels, and its retail district; Disney is part of the larger Anaheim Resort district with numerous other hotels and retail complexes. The Platinum Triangle, a neo-urban redevelopment district surrounding Angel Stadium, which is planned to be populated with mixed-use streets and high-rises. Further east, Anaheim Canyon is an industrial district north of the Riverside Freeway and east of the Orange Freeway. The city's eastern third consists of Anaheim Hills, a community built to a master plan, and open land east of the Route 241 tollway.

Anaheim Town Square (originally East Anaheim Shopping Center, later East Anaheim Center, East Anaheim Plaza), is a 372,185-square-foot (34,577 m2) community shopping center, the largest center in East Anaheim, California which was built at the intersection of Anaheim-Olive Road (now Lincoln Avenue) and Placentia Avenue (now State College Boulevard). The center began with 140,000 square feet (13,000 m2) on 16.75 acres, and had amongst others, a Woolworth and a Sav-on Drug Store and in 1968-9 added a 86,800-square-foot (8,060 m2) W.T. Grant variety store, Jolly Roger restaurant, Commercial National Bank, and a Boston Store junior department store. In 1968 the center sales volume was $20,000,000.The Boston Store branch was rebuilt in 1984.In mid-2017, the Kmart closed and was replaced by a 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2) small-format Target store.The center today has 372,185 square feet (34,577 m2) of gross leasable area, with anchors Target, Hispanic-focused supermarket Northgate Market (the population was 69% Hispanic within a 1-mile radius in 2018), Ross Dress for Less, Goodwill, Pep Boys, a United States Post Office, and discount stores 99 Cents Only Stores and Five Below.

The Samuel Kraemer Building, in Anaheim, California, was built in 1924-1925 by Samuel Kraemer. It was the first high-rise building in Orange County. Samuel Kraemer 'made a fortune' from oil being discovered on his land. Kraemer invested his wealth in developing much of downtown Anaheim during the 1920s, including this six-story building for the American Savings Bank of Anaheim. The rich use of Gladding-McBean tile on the entire south and west facades arguably made it the most outstanding building in North Orange County when it was built. Designed by local architect M. Eugene Durfee, the building was the tallest in Orange County. It remained so for over four decades. The building once was the headquarters of El Camino Savings and Loan. The Samuel Kraemer Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.It was noted to be "an excellent example of Renaissance Revival architecture", and to be one of few buildings surviving in Anaheim that featured extensive use of terra cotta glazed tiles.

The Carnegie Library in Anaheim, California is a Carnegie library building built in 1908. The Classical Revival style building was designed by John C. Austin, and opened in 1909. It was a public library until 1963. During the 1970s it served as the personnel office for the City of Anaheim. It is now one of the buildings of the MUZEO, a museum of local culture, history and art. The Anaheim Carnegie Library was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.It is the only Carnegie library remaining in Orange County; others in Fullerton, Orange, Santa Ana, and Huntington Beach did not survive.

The Anaheim Packing House is a 42,000-square-foot (3,900 m2) gourmet food hall in Downtown Anaheim, California, United States. Along with the Packard Building, a renovated 1925 Mission Revival style building, and a farmer's market, it makes up a shopping center called the Anaheim Packing District. The Packing House opened on May 31, 2014, and is located in a renovated 1919 former Sunkist citrus packing house built in Spanish Colonial Revival style. It is one of the few remaining packing houses in Orange County, and the only one in Anaheim. The packing house was added to the National Register of Historic Places as the Anaheim Orange and Lemon Association Packing House in 2015.

The Gates of Anaheim are a series of gates in California that mark the historic entrance to Anaheim, California. Four city gates were built: North, East, South, and West. They were designated a California Historic Landmark (No.122) on March 29, 1933.An historic marker sits at the intersection of South Anaheim Boulevard and West South Street, at 777 South Anaheim Boulevard. The marker is to memorialize Anaheim's founding in 1857 and the city gate that was there. The early Anaheim Colony put up a barrier around the town to block out wild cattle grazing in nearby fields. The City of Los Angeles lay beyond the North gate, making it the most frequented.

Downtown Anaheim is the administrative and historic center of Anaheim, California. It is also known as Anaheim Colony Historic District and is bordered by East, West, North, and South streets. The historic center of the city is Anaheim Blvd (originally named Los Angeles Street) and Center Street.

Rancho San Juan Cajón de Santa Ana was a 35,971-acre (145.57 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Orange County, California. The grant was given in 1837 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Juan Pacífico Ontiveros. The grant encompassed the present-day cities of Anaheim, Fullerton, and Placentia.

Anaheim Ice, formerly known as Disney Ice, is an indoor ice rink complex in Anaheim, California. It is known for being one of the major works of architect Frank Gehry. It was the practice and training rink of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League until those operations were moved to Great Park Ice in 2019. Currently, the venue hosts youth hockey, figure skating events, and public skating. Additionally, it serves as the home rink for the University of Southern California club hockey team, and was the site of the 2010 PAC-8 Hockey Conference Tournament, hosted by USC.

The St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Anaheim, California, also known as The Chapel at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, is a historic church at 311 West South Street. It was built in 1876 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.It is a wood-frame building which is "a modest vernacular example of the Gothic Revival style popular in the mid to late nineteenth century." It has a gable front with a bell tower topped by a pyramidal roof. It has a Gothic arch entryway and double-lancet windows.The church was built at the corner of Emily and Adele Streets in Anaheim, and was moved within that sitein 1914, and then moved in 1955 to its present location, about 1 mile (1.6 km) away.
