University Park, Lima

The German Tower (Spanish: Torre Alemana), also known as the Clock Tower (Spanish: Torre del Reloj) or the University Clock (Spanish: Reloj Universitario), is a clock tower in the historic centre of Lima, Peru. It is located in front of the Casona de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, in the University Park at the intersection of Abancay and Nicolás de Piérola avenues. It was donated in 1921 by the German community in Lima, on the occasion of the Centennial of the Independence of Peru. At twelve in the day and at six in the afternoon, its chimes played the first stanza of the National Anthem of Peru.

The Casona of the National University of San Marcos (Spanish: Casona de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos), also known as the Cultural Centre of San Marcos (Spanish: Centro Cultural de San Marcos, CCSM), which operates in the building, is a large Spanish colonial building that hosts the cultural centre of the National University of San Marcos, located in the Historic Centre of Lima, Peru. The building, as well as its adjacent public space, known as the University Park, is part of the area and of the list of buildings of the Historic Center of Lima that were recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in 1988. Located in the old building of the Noviciado de San Antonio Abad—a Jesuit novitiate—and of the Real Convictorio de San Carlos, it became the university's headquarters between 1875 and 1966, when most of its administrative offices were moved to the campus of the University City. It serves as the main reference of the cultural and artistic activity of the university, and is one of the best preserved constructions of the colonial era in Lima, housing a theatre known as the University Theatre (TUSM), a library and directorates of ballet, folklore, music, film and television, among others. It also houses two museums: the Museum of Art (MASM), the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (MAA). It is the oldest of the seats currently occupied by the university and one of the most important non-religious historical buildings in the city of Lima.

The Javier Alzamora Valdez Building (Spanish: Edificio Javier Alzamora Valdez) is located in the historic center of Lima, Peru. It stands at the intersection of Abancay and Colmena avenues, next to the University Park. Formerly the headquarters of the Ministry of Education, it's the main location of the Superior Court of Justice of Lima, part of the Judiciary of Peru.

The Panteón de los Próceres (Spanish for Heroes' Pantheon) is a crypt inside the old Church of the Real Convictorio de San Carlos (Royal College of San Carlos) that holds the remains of the heroes of the Peruvian War of Independence. The Church originally belonged to the Jesuit novitiate of San Antonio Abad, but it was transferred after the Jesuits were expelled from Spanish territories. The Church was rebuilt after the 1746 Lima–Callao earthquake leveled Lima, and in 1876 it became the Chapel of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. In 1924, the remains of various heroes of the wars of independence (1821-1824) were transferred to a crypt just under the altar and the Church was renamed "Panteón de los Proceres". This "Panteón de los Proceres" should not be confused with the "Panteón de los Proceres" at the Presbítero Maestro cemetery. The "Panteón de los Proceres" at the Presbítero Maestro cemetery holds the remains of the heroes of the War of the Pacific of 1879.

The Sacred Heart Church (Spanish: Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús), also known as the Church of the Orphans (Spanish: Iglesia de los Huérfanos), is a Catholic church dedicated to the Sacred Heart, located at the intersection of Jirón Azángaro and Jirón Apurímac in the historic centre of Lima, Peru.

The Museum of Elections and Democracy (Spanish: Museo Electoral y de la Democracia) is a museum opened in 2005 and located in the headquarters of the National Jury of Elections (JNE), itself located next to Nicolás de Piérola Avenue in the historic centre of Lima. Its mission is to preserve, investigate, exhibit and disseminate part of the heritage related to the electoral history of Peru in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Democracy Square (Spanish: Plaza de la Democracia) is a public square in the Historic Centre of Lima, Peru. It is located on the former site of the Bank of the Nation Building, which burned down in the year 2000 during the Four Quarters March. The park's address is 1045 Nicolás de Piérola Avenue.

The Banco Comercial was a multi-purpose office building located in the historic centre of Lima, Peru. It housed the Banco Comercial del Perú (BANCOPER), after which it was named, and later the Banco de la Nación. The building was designed by Peruvian architect Enrique Seoane Ros, and built by Flores & Costa, S.A., a Peruvian construction firm. It was destroyed by a fire during the Four Quarters March caused by a bomb reportedly planted under the orders of Vladimiro Montesinos, then director of the National Intelligence Service, in order to discredit the protests against Alberto Fujimori, then president of Peru. The building was replaced by the Plaza de la Democracia, inaugurated on July 27, 2006, by Alejandro Toledo. The bank itself moved to San Isidro prior to the inauguration of its new headquarters in 2015.

The Plaza San Martín is one of the most representative public spaces of the city of Lima, Peru. It is located at the ninth block of Colmena avenue, within the Historic Centre of Lima which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1988 by UNESCO. It is located near the Plaza Mayor of Lima and is connected to it by the Jiron de la Union. Its central monument gives homage to Peru's liberator, José de San Martín.

The Lamp of the Three Graces (Spanish: Farola de Las Tres Gracias) is a sculpted lamppost next to San Martín Square, in the historic centre of Lima, Peru. It is based on a marble work of Germain Pilon, a French Renaissance sculptor, where the Three Graces are holding the heart of Henry II of France.This piece, declared as part of the Cultural Heritage of the Nation in 2018, has a height of 4.75 metres (15.6 ft), considering its pedestal, figure and luminaires. The sculpture has undergone several moves throughout its history, from its initial location in the courtyard of the old Teatro Principal, where it was possibly installed around 1874, to Union Square, then Merced Square and ultimately its final location in front of San Martín Square in 1915.The sculpture was restored by the Municipality of Lima in a four-month period in late 2019, under the Mayoralty of Jorge Muñoz Wells.

The Fort of Santa Catalina (Spanish: Fuerte de Santa Catalina) in Lima, Peru, is a Neoclassical style building that partly survives and it is in a good condition, and it is one of the few examples representative of the military colonial architecture that still exists in Peru. It dates to the 1800s decade and was built on a land called "Huerta de los Llanos" and "Huerta Perdida" or that of the "Cuero", which belonged to the Monasteries of Santa Catalina de Siena and de la Concepción respectively. The property is registered as property of the Peruvian State in the Margesí of National Heritages: Asiento 12, Foja 37, Volume I of the Book of Properties of Lima having, at present, a total area of 25,250 square meters. The Liman traditionalist Ricardo Palma, in one of his tradiciones peruanas, affirms that during the Viceroy Gabriel de Avilés's government the factory of the Barracks of Santa Catalina was started for an artillery barracks, under the direction of the then colonel, and later Viceroy, Don Joaquín de la Pezuela.

The Supreme Court of Justice is the highest judicial court in Peru. Its jurisdiction extends over the entire territory of the nation. It is headquartered in the Palace of Justice in Lima. The current president of the Supreme Court is Javier Arévalo Vela.
