Texas College is a private, historically black Christian Methodist Episcopal college in Tyler, Texas. It is affiliated with the United Negro College Fund. It was founded in 1894 by a group of ministers affiliated with the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church, a predominantly black denomination which was at the time known as the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church in America. They planned to provide for education of African-American students, who were excluded from the segregated university system of Texas. They planned a full literary, scientific and classical education for theology, normal training of lower school teachers, music, commercial and industrial training, and agricultural and mechanical sciences.

The Caldwell Zoo is an 85-acre (34 ha) zoo located in the city of Tyler, Texas. It features animals from all over the world. The Caldwell Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).

St. James Colored Methodist Episcopal Church (St. James C.M.E. Church; St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church) is a historic church at 408 N. Border Avenue in Tyler, Texas, United States. It was built in 1920 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Goodman–LeGrand house and museum is located at 624 North Broadway, in the city of Tyler, county of Smith in the U.S. state of Texas. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places listings in Smith County in 1976, and has been a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark since 1962. The Daughters of the American Revolution designated it an Historic Site in 2010.

The Tyler City Hall at 212 N. Bonner Ave. in Tyler, Texas was built in 1938. It was designed by architect T. Shirley Simons, Sr. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. The listing included one contributing building and one contributing site on 1.3 acres (0.53 ha).Construction of the building was financed by Depression-era PWA and/or WPA programs. Simons had been hired in 1936 by the City of Tyler "to provide architectural services for publics works projects." Other similar works by Simon were the Mother Frances Hospital and the new Tyler U.S. Post Office and Courthouse.: 92  It has been termed "a good local rendering of Art Deco styling".: 209 

The Discovery Science Place is a children's science museum located in Tyler, in the U.S. state of Texas. The museum is housed in an old car dealership and has been in service to the community since 1993. The museum offers an extensive array of exhibits including: A small mock television news station with working cameras and mini-control board Assorted physics-related exhibits, including a kinetic sculpture. Fish tank with assorted goldfish A large (indoor) man-made cave, with various rock/sediment exhibits built-in and an earthquake simulator. Indoor dinosaur fossil dig pit A scale representation of various public buildings located in and around Tyler, including the Smith county courthouse, Brookshire's Grocery Company, and Southside Bank.

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas (in case citations, E.D. Tex.) is a federal court in the Fifth Circuit (except for patent claims and claims against the U.S. government under the Tucker Act, which are appealed to the Federal Circuit). The District was established on February 21, 1857, with the division of the state into an Eastern and Western District.

The Blackstone Building in Tyler, Texas is an Art Deco building built in 1938. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. Fort Worth architect Preston M. Geren designed the six-story building, which is one of only two Art Deco-style office buildings in the Tyler area. The project was financed by Tyler businessman Edmond P. McKenna and intended to ease the need for office space during the East Texas oil boom. The building housed offices for oil companies, geologists, attorneys, engineers, and more. In addition, the Blackstone was a location for the Union Bus Terminal from 1938 to the 1950s. The Blackstone Hotel next door was imploded in 1985 but the Blackstone Building still stands. It is being used as office space and houses the Tyler Chamber of Commerce.The building cost about $100,000. At one time it hosted about 15 oil industry-related businesses.It was built by Tyler contractor Hugh E. White. White is also built one of few International Style buildings in Tyler, the Elks Club Building (1949), which is also NRHP-listed.

The Cotton Belt Depot Museum is a museum located in the historic railroad depot in Tyler, Texas.

The William M. Steger Federal Building and United States Courthouse is a historic government building built in Tyler, Texas. It was built during 1933–1934 in a restrained Classical Revival style. It served historically as a courthouse, post office, and a government office building. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001 as the Tyler US Post Office and Courthouse.It was designed by local architect Shirley Simons with supervision by the Office of the Supervising Architect under James A. Wetmore. Its materials include a dark gray mottled granite on the ground floor, light buff limestone cladding the first floor, salmon-colored brick on the second and third floors. Acroterions appear at each corner of a parapet.

Marvin Methodist Episcopal Church, South (also called Marvin United Methodist Church and Marvin Church) is a historic church at 300 W. Erwin Street in Tyler, Texas. It was built in 1890 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
