Fermoy

The Battle of Cloghleagh, Cloghlea, Cloughleagh, Cloughleigh also known as the Battle of Funcheon Ford or the Battle of Manning Water, was a battle fought between a Royalist force and an Irish Confederate force during the Irish Confederate Wars. It took place south of Kilworth and north of Fermoy between the river Funcheon and the river Blackwater in County Cork on 4 June 1643. The result was an Irish Confederate victory.

Fermoy GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association based in the town of Fermoy, Cork, Ireland. The club fields teams in competitions organized by the Cork GAA county board and the Avondhu GAA divisional board. The club plays both Gaelic football and hurling.

Fermoy Barracks (Irish: Dún Mainistir Fhear Maí) was a military installation in Fermoy, County Cork.

St Colman's College (Irish: Coláiste Cholmáin) is an all-boys voluntary secondary school, and former boarding school, in Fermoy, County Cork. The College was founded in 1856 and opened in 1858 as the diocesan college of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cloyne. Archbishop Thomas Croke, after whom Croke Park is named, became the school's first President in this year. The College is renowned for its sporting history.

Castlehyde (Irish: Carraig an Éidigh) is a townland and estate, slightly west of Fermoy in County Cork, Ireland. The estate's manor house, Castlehyde House, had been the ancestral home of Douglas Hyde's family and is one of several houses owned by Irish dancer, Michael Flatley.The townland of Castlehyde, which is c. 32 hectares (79 acres) in area, is in the civil parish of Fermoy and the historical barony of Condons and Clangibbon. It is bordered by Castlehyde East (198 hectares (490 acres)) and Castlehyde West (17 hectares (42 acres)).

Kilworth (Irish: Cill Uird) is a village in north County Cork, located about 2 kilometres north of Fermoy near the river Funcheon. The M8 Cork–Dublin motorway passes nearby. Kilworth has an army camp, located on the R639 regional road between Mitchelstown and Fermoy. Kilworth is part of the Cork East Dáil constituency.

Kilworth GAA, or Cill Úird, is a hurling and Gaelic football club located in the village of Kilworth in the north-eastern corner of County Cork, Ireland. It is affiliated to Cork GAA county board and to Avondhu GAA divisional board.

Clondulane (Irish: Cluain Dalláin) is a village in north County Cork, Ireland, 3.5m east of Fermoy, just off the Main Fermoy-Dungarvan Road. Originally built as a camp for the workers of a Cork Milling Company grain mill, it now has a population of over 400. Clondulane is part of the Cork East Dáil constituency. There are three large houses of note in the village: Clondulane, Glandulane, and Careysville Houses, the latter being owned by the Duke of Devonshire (England) and used as a lodging house during the salmon season. Along with several housing estates and many stand alone dwellings, there is a school, community centre, public house, playing fields, park, disused railway station, factory, a Protestant school, Protestant church and graveyard.

Rathcormac (Irish: Ráth Chormaic, meaning 'Cormac's ringfort') is a small town in north County Cork, Ireland. Previously situated on the main Cork to Dublin road (the N8), it was bypassed in 2006 by the M8. The former N8 through the town's main street is now the R639 regional road. Rathcormac is located in the Blackwater Valley region and is part of the Cork East Dáil constituency.

Castlelyons (Irish: Caisleán Ó Liatháin) is a small village in the east of County Cork, Ireland. It is also a civil parish in the barony of Barrymore. The name is derived from a stronghold of the Uí Liatháin - an early medieval kingdom. It is situated 6 km (3.7 mi) south of Fermoy. In the 2002 census it recorded a population of 211. Castlelyons is part of the Cork East Dáil constituency. There are two stone bridges that cross the River Bride into the village - one a small footbridge and the other a bridge which was part of the entrance into Barrymore Castle - the seat of the Earls of Barrymore. The parish has two churches at Bridesbridge and Coolagown, and also boasts a castle, two abbeys, a mausoleum, two holy wells, and many other historical sights.
