Essen West station is situated in Essen on the Witten/Dortmund–Oberhausen/Duisburg railway in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is served by lines S1, S3 and S9 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn.

Altendorf (lit. "old village") is a northwestern borough of the city of Essen, Germany. It was incorporated into the city on 1 August 1901. The University of Duisburg-Essen (German: Universität Duisburg-Essen) is a public research university in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. In the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the university was awarded 194th place in the world. It was originally founded in 1654 and re-established on 1 January 2003, as a merger of the Gerhard Mercator University of Duisburg and the university of Essen. It is based in both the cities of Duisburg and Essen, and a part of University Alliance Metropolis Ruhr. With its 12 departments and around 40,000 students, the University of Duisburg-Essen is among the 10 largest German universities. Since 2014, research income has risen by 150 percent. Natural science and engineering are ranked within the top 10 in Germany, and the humanities are within the top 20 to 30. Especially, the physics field is ranked in the top 1 in Germany.

Bamlerstraße is an underground station of the Essen Stadtbahn on the boundaries of Altenessen and Nordviertel, both being boroughs of Essen. Lines U11 and U17 call the station, as well as bus line 196. It is located at the crossroads of Bamlerstraße and Riedingerstraße. The station has two tracks. There is a lift in operation.The station opened on 24 May 1998.

Stratmanns Theater Europahaus is a theatre in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Kennedyplatz is a plaza in the German city of Essen. It was laid out on a previously densely-built site which had been destroyed in the Second World War. Today, the area serves as an inner-city event space. Previously known as the Gildenplatz, the square was renamed on 17 December 1963 in memory of US president John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated the previous month.

Grillo-Theater is a theatre in Essen, Germany. Named after the industrialist Friedrich Grillo, who made the building possible, it opened on 16 September 1892 with Lessing's drama Minna von Barnhelm. The building was badly damaged in World War II; it was restored with a much simpler façade and re-opened in 1950 with Wagner's opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Notable directors included Erwin Piscator, Jean-Louis Barrault, Heinz Dietrich Kenter, Hansgünther Heyme. Caspar Neher became head of design in 1927 and designed here eight operas and 11 plays. In 1988, the role of the Grillo-Theater as Essen's major stage venue was taken by the newly constructed Aalto Theatre which also opened with Die Meistersinger. Following a major reconstruction by the architect Werner Ruhnau and a reduction of the auditorium from 670 to 400 seats, the Grillo-Theater became a flexible smaller venue; it re-opened in September 1990 with Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Essen-Bergeborbeck station is located in the city of Essen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the Duisburg–Dortmund railway of the Cologne-Minden Railway Company. The line and station opened on 15 May 1847. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station. Though it is named after nearby Bergeborbeck borough, it is located within the boundaries of Bochold, Essen. The station is served by Regionalbahn services RB 32 (Rhein-Emscher-Bahn) and RB 35 (Emscher-Niederrhein-Bahn), providing a service every 30 minutes during the day on weekdays.It is also served by tram lines 101 and 106 of the Essen Stadtbahn, operated at 10-minute intervals and bus route 196, operated by Ruhrbahn at 20-minute intervals.
